    Novitas Diverse Voices Scholarship
Diverse perspectives in public relations have enormous influence and may have a transformational impact on molding public narratives. In today's linked world, when information moves quickly and public opinion is significantly impacted by media and communication channels, representing and including varied viewpoints is crucial for developing a more inclusive and realistic image of society. Diversity in public relations brings people from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences together. Race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, and financial position are all examples of variety. When these various voices are given a forum to express their stories, views, and ideas, prevailing narratives are challenged and a more complete picture of social issues emerges. The capacity to contest preconceptions and overcome biased media depictions is one of the main consequences of various voices in public relations. By promoting marginalized perspectives and experiences, public relations professionals may modify dominant narratives and dispel myths. This can lead to increased empathy, understanding, and respect for the depth and complexity of many cultures, identities, and points of view. Furthermore, varied public relations voices help to create more successful and genuine communication tactics. It is critical to consider the varied populations that will be targeted while developing campaigns, messaging, or material. PR professionals may guarantee that their message connects with a larger audience and avoids inadvertent biases or misrepresentations by engaging a variety of voices and opinions in the planning and execution process. The influence of varied voices goes beyond the views of companies or brands. It also has an impact on organizational culture and decision-making processes. Inclusionary public relations teams are more likely to examine a larger spectrum of viewpoints, resulting in more well-rounded plans and inventive solutions. Diverse teams bring new perspectives, ideas, and methods to the table, encouraging creativity and pushing the envelope. Furthermore, varied public relations voices may address historical and structural inequities. PR practitioners have the chance to contribute to social change and challenge the existing quo by elevating disadvantaged voices and encouraging equity in representation. They may utilize their positions to promote inclusion, social justice problems, and diversity in all parts of society. It is crucial to remember, however, that establishing meaningful diversity in public relations necessitates more than token participation. It necessitates the creation of an inclusive workplace in which various perspectives are appreciated, heard, and empowered to participate meaningfully. Individuals from underrepresented groups can benefit from mentorship, professional development opportunities, and leadership responsibilities. Finally, the impact of different perspectives in public relations is revolutionary. It changes public narratives by questioning stereotypes, encouraging empathy, and advocating for a more inclusive and realistic portrayal of society. PR professionals may establish more successful communication strategies, contribute to social change, and construct a more fair future by combining various viewpoints. Accepting and amplifying various viewpoints is not simply the moral thing to do; it is also critical for organizations' success and relevance in an increasingly varied and interconnected world.
    AI Innovators Undergraduate Scholarship
    1. My fascination with artificial intelligence derives from an intense curiosity about the confluence of human intelligence and machine learning techniques. I've been attracted by the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize numerous elements of our life ever since I first met it. I have obtained a good grasp of AI principles and methodologies via significant research and investigation, and I am eager to contribute to its growth. During my undergraduate studies in computer science, I got the chance to explore the world of artificial intelligence through academic assignments and personal projects. In one course, I focused on constructing a natural language processing (NLP) model for sentiment analysis. This encounter piqued my interest in machine learning algorithms and their capacity to understand and interpret human language. Outside of the classroom, I participated in extracurricular events such as AI hackathons and conferences to broaden my knowledge and network with professionals in the industry. My goals after graduation are twofold. I intend to take a master's degree in AI to broaden my knowledge and develop advanced talents. A solid academic basis will enable me to contribute significantly to AI research and development. Second, I want to work in a research position inside an AI-focused firm. I'm particularly interested in creating creative AI solutions that address real-world problems and positively influence society. My long-term objective is to help develop AI systems that are not just technologically advanced but also ethically responsible and inclusive. 2.One of the AI-related projects I worked on aimed to improve medical diagnostics using computer vision methods. The issue we were attempting to solve was the accurate diagnosis of skin cancer using dermoscopy pictures. Skin cancer is a major public health problem, and early identification is critical to improving patient outcomes. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs), a deep learning technology noted for their success in image identification applications, were used to overcome this difficulty. We trained the algorithm on a huge dataset of dermatologist-annotated dermoscopy pictures. To achieve the best performance, the training method included data pretreatment, augmentation, and hyperparameter adjustment. Our effort resulted in a CNN model that successfully classified skin lesions as benign or malignant with great precision and recall. Using a different test dataset, we examined the model's performance and achieved an excellent accuracy of 95%. This revealed AI's potential to aid dermatologists in making more accurate and efficient diagnoses. Our project's significance extended beyond its technical accomplishments. Our AI solution has the potential to minimize the strain on healthcare professionals by automating the basic screening procedure, allowing them to focus on difficult situations. Furthermore, the approach can enhance access to excellent healthcare, particularly in poor areas with a scarcity of dermatologists. This experiment confirmed my conviction in the transformative capacity of artificial intelligence in the medical industry. It emphasized the significance of multidisciplinary collaboration between computer scientists and healthcare professionals in developing novel solutions that can substantially influence patient care. The event also increased my grasp of the ethical issues surrounding AI use in healthcare, underscoring the importance of responsible and transparent methods. Overall, this project improved my technical abilities in AI and computer vision and strengthened my desire to use AI to solve real-world problems and improve people's lives.
    Chadwick D. McNab Memorial Scholarship
One of the projects I was able to work on and was especially enthusiastic about was building a LEGO automobile and programming it with MATLAB. This project attempted to provide a technology solution that would improve the lives of disabled people by giving them movement and freedom. My initial inspiration for the project originated from my conviction in the capacity of technology to improve people's lives. The idea that using technology might help disabled people overcome their problems and find fresh solutions to enhance their quality of life intrigued me. The initiative allowed me to merge my love of technology with my desire to improve people's lives. The project's initial phase was to construct the LEGO automobile, which needed meticulous design and attention to detail. We built the automobile with LEGO Mindstorms, a programmable robotics kit, which allowed us to tweak its features and tailor it to fit the special needs of disabled people. We created a small, strong structure that could house the essential electrical components while allowing for easy usage and agility. Then, to code the car's motions and interactions, we used MATLAB, a strong programming language, and environment. MATLAB provided a vast range of tools and functions that allowed us to manage the speed, direction, and responsiveness to external stimuli of the automobile. We developed it to listen to voice instructions and added sensors to identify obstructions, allowing the automobile to traverse its surroundings safely. The study demonstrated the transformational potential of technology and its capacity to break down boundaries, allowing individuals to overcome obstacles and fully engage in society. Throughout the research, I was always motivated by the potential impact on disabled people. I felt a feeling of purpose and determination after seeing the automobile come to life and imagined how it might help someone with restricted mobility. Working in technology motivates me in general because of its endless potential. Technology has the potential to transform our society, enhance efficiency, and solve complicated challenges. It constantly pushes the limits of what is possible and promotes innovation, creativity, and cooperation. Because the profession is fast-paced, there is always something new to learn, which keeps me interested and intrigued about the possibilities ahead.
