I am a student at Franklin High School, part of the BSU program and serving on the board for Marketing and fundraisers. I am also a student at Seattle Central College has been an amazing experience so far. As a running start student, I am working towards my Associates degree in business. One thing I really enjoyed and would love to do more of is tutoring. Last year, I spent 2 hours every day, Monday through Thursday tutoring kids at a non-profit for immigrant and refugee youth. Being able to help these students was very rewarding. Over the summer, I was able to volunteer for their summer enrichment program. Being able to leave an impact on the youth is something I am truly passionate about and I am looking forward to doing again. In my free time, I dedicated time to learning and performing Ethiopian/Eritrean dances at other Seattle Public Schools. It was a fun and unique experience that I was able to display at schools such as Lincoln High School. All these activities have been very fun, and I am excited to see where it takes me next.

6. Get it done! (Take action)
The attribute I embody the most is the ability to take action and "get it done." I believe this quality is a big part of who I am and how I work. Whenever I set a goal, I make sure to follow through with focus and determination. For example, when I joined my school's BSU team, I quickly stepped up to organize events, manage schedules, and delegate tasks to make sure our plans happened. Instead of waiting for someone to tell me what to do, I take charge, make decisions, and keep things moving. This quality has also helped me in school. When I have assignments or group projects, I don’t wait around, I jump right in and start working. I make to do lists, set deadlines, and stick to them to get things done on time. I also don’t run away from my challenges. I break big tasks into smaller steps and get them one by one. I use this mindset in my personal growth too. For example, I wanted to get better at public speaking, so I signed up for workshops, practiced speeches, and asked for feedback. Taking these steps helped me feel more confident and clear when speaking in front of others. Getting things done isn’t just about finishing tasks. It’s also about motivating others to do the same. I try to set an example by staying focused and pushing through obstacles, and I encourage my friends to do the same. Whether I’m helping someone come up with ideas or planning a community service project, I make sure my actions match my values and goals. I believe this mindset will help me continue to grow in programs i have been in, like YEOC (Young Executives of Color) at UW. It shows that I’m serious about turning ideas into reality, helping others, and making a real impact. My ability to take initiative, stay organized, and deliver results means I’m ready to make the most of any opportunities that come my way.
5. Prioritize and manage time
Even though I’m good at getting things done, I know I need to get better at managing my time. Sometimes I take on too much for myself at once, and it can make me feel really stressed out or behind from everyone else. To fix this, I’ve made a plan to improve my time management skills. First, I started using a checklist every day. Writing down the deadlines for things and tasks in one place will help me stay on track. I’ll also set time blocks for each task so I can focus and avoid getting distracted. Second, I’ll work on focusing more on the most important tasks first. I’ll spend most of my time working on the things that matter the most instead of getting stuck on smaller tasks that are less important. Third, I’ll set boundaries to protect my time. I’ll say no to things that don’t match my goals and i will actually ask for help when I need it. I’ll also take short breaks to rest and stay productive. To keep track of my progress, I’ll check my schedule each week and see what’s working and what’s not. I’ll make changes if I need to and ask my mentors and friends for tips on how to keep improving. I believe this plan will help me get better at managing my time and balancing my responsibilities. This growth will help me stay organized and ready for programs and future leadership roles. Learning to manage my time well will help me keep making progress and reaching my goals.
