For me, earning a nursing degree means so much more then finding a new job in a new field. it represents stability, opportunity and the chance to build something different from what I grew up with. my parents were separated and growing up wasn’t always the easiest. there was time where money was tight and I learned that life wasn’t always gonna be easy at a young age. those experience going up has taught me resilience independence, and the importance of never taking opportunities for granted. As the oldest I grew up taking care of my siblings, so my mom could go to work and wait tables night and day to make sure that ends meet. I would wake up at 6am and get out of bed and become a junior Mom role so that my mom made sure that we had food and everything we needed on our back. taking on these responsibilities at such a young age, made me realize that it taught me patience, compassion, and the importance of putting others needs over yours. Looking back, those moments were key to the beginning of my passion for caring towards others. They showed me the value of selflessness and gave me a sense of purpose in life.
Growing up without much made me appreciate the value of hard work. I watched my mom sacrifice so much and her own life to make sure that we had everything we needed. and even though we didn’t always have everything we needed, but we had each other and that’s what I realized what mattered the most. those challenges made me realize I want a career that will give me opportunities but also will better the future and not only create a better future for myself but also making a difference in my patients lives. A nursing degree will change my life by giving me financial stability that I’ve really never experienced in my lifetime and the ability to provide for myself and my future family. I want to break the cycle of financial stress and creating a environments where my kids will not have to worry about the stuff that I worried about at such a young age I also want my kids to know that never giving up and education will open a bunch of opportunities for you in the future. I want to accept that example for my future kids. Beyond financial stability nursing will fulfill my passion for caring for others. some of the hardest moment, patient lives nurses, and the people who provide comfort and hope and reassurance. I would love to be that person for these people going through such a hard time. because of my experiences in life, I realize how so much compassions and kindness can mean when someone is going through a rough time. earning my nursing degree, would also be a source of pride for my family. it will prove that where you come from doesn’t determine the outcome of your life. my childhood may have presented obstacles. but it also gave me the strength to persevere and get through every exam and every class I’ve taken so far.
