Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship
Growing up, as an Army brat, I had to find something that would always feel normal to me. I was always surrounded by music. From growing up in a musical household, to joining my high school band and choir. Music has always been something that I've appreciated. I loved getting to know the music of past centuries through family members and discovering new sounds as I've gotten older. From Pop to R&B, my fascination with all genres continued to grow. In my sophomore year of high school, I joined my school choir. This allowed me to sing and learn a variety of songs. From classics like Ave Maria to Latin pop songs like La Bamba. I was also given the chance to compete in local competitions, earning gold twice and a silver medal.
I decided to join my school's band soon after because I knew I'd always wanted to pursue a career in music.
Thus, learning an instrument would be helpful. However, through my experience as a band kid, I'd learned that the music scene was so much more. It was community, it was fun, and it was rewarding in so many ways. Being part of both a choir and a band helped me conclude that working in music wasn't the only thing I wanted to do; I wanted to produce it. I wanted to be the one in charge of the operation. So, I began to explore that side of music more. As my senior year approached, I began planning how I would pursue my dream beyond college and become the first child in my household to attend my college of choice. My adoration for the power of music has driven me to study it in college and, hopefully, become a professional in it after I graduate. I hope to land an internship at an entertainment company that will give me a start to a career in music.
During this time, I plan to work on and explore myself as an artist. I hope to become an artist who conveys messages that encourage positive change and have an impact on minority communities. However, as I work towards this goal, I give back to my community in whatever way I can. Currently, I give back to my community by volunteering through the National Honor Society at my school. I've participated in food bank drives to help provide food to those struggling, and I've also given to people experiencing homelessness on my own time in my local area. When I enter college, I plan to continue supporting my community and working towards making the world a better place for everyone.

Vision of Music Scholarship
Growing up, I was always surrounded by music. From growing up in a musical household, to joining my high school band and choir. Music has always been something that I've appreciated. I loved getting to know the music of past centuries through family members, and discovering new sounds throughout the years as I've gotten older. From Pop to R&B, my fascination with all genres continued to grow. I began to look up to artists like Billie Eilish, who is one of the youngest starting artists in the industry, and H.E.R., who makes R&B music that I hope to use as inspiration for my own music one day. Looking up to artists like these encouraged me to work towards improving my singing talent. So, in my sophomore year of high school, I joined my school choir. This allowed me to sing and get to know a variety of songs. From classics like Ave Maria to Latin pop songs like La Bamba. I was also given the chance to compete in local competitions, earning gold twice and silver once during that time. I'd made the decision to join my school's band soon after because I knew that pursuing a music career was something that I'd always wanted to do. Thus, learning an instrument would be helpful. I hope to become an artist who conveys messages that encourage positive change and impact minority communities. Furthermore, I hope to become an artist who is remembered for my actions in the community and for my desire to make a positive impact on all of those in the world. However, as I work towards this goal, I will give back to my community in whatever way I can. Currently, I give back to my community by volunteering through the National Honor Society at my school. I've participated in food banks to help give food to those struggling, and I've also given to the homeless on my own time around my local area.
