Bio

I'm a high-school dropout. I received my GED in August of 2002. Instead of starting college, I married a guy 5 days after he was released from prison. 3 months after we were married, I found out he had been cheating on me with a 15 year old! Despite the damage this caused to my heart and mental health, I tried staying with him and fixing our relationship. Little did I know, there was no chance in fixing it. He sat infront of the Xbox, couldn't keep a job at anywhere, stole whatever he could to buy drugs and pawned everything he could that I worked do hard to buy for my children. I made it almost 10 years with him. After our youngest was born I saw the light. I was working full time, attending school full time and taking care of the boys. We were living in a hotel thanks to their father spending the rent money on who knows what. Our hotel was horrible. And he continued to do nothing. Now I'm a single mother of 3 amazing young men for the past 10 years. They are what motivates me to succeed. I refuse to let my children grow up to be men like their father. Will not happen as long as I'm still in this earth. I will do whatever I have to in order to give them every opportunity they may need to succeed.

Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
I don't, I was only bored with nothing to do. I want to be the next President of the United States. I figure why not. If Kanye West can run then why can't I? My life has gone exactly to plan. I've never ran into any obstacles in the 38 years I've been on earth.
    Interdisciplinary Technology Scholarship
My father worked at IBM before I was born. So we always had a computer in our house. I loved just needing around on it seeing what I could do. Then the internet came to be. I remember the first time we connected. It took so long to connect and it kicked us off within 10 minutes because my grandma called (we had call waiting). That's when I was hooked. The internet gave us all the knowledge in the world at our fingertips. Any questions you could think of you could find the answers online. Today, I am still the Google queen. I hear a question and I Google it. The past 20 or so years of finding answers has given me a lot of knowledge. I'm hoping to receive my Bachelor's in information technology. After that I plan to apply for law schools. The use of technology is everywhere. I believe a tech degree will help me with setting up my own law firm. My dream is to make changes to the broken corrupt justice system in America. Give those who don't have a voice a fighting chance if being heard. And shining the light on the corruption in the government. Technology will aid in communicating with other lawyers with the same goals I have, get my name out into the world to anyone who may need my help and expand throughout the US. I hope to make serious changes to the prison systems, holding corrupt officials accountable and give people who are charged by these corrupt officials a voice to say "no! You will not force me to take a plea bargain. You will have to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt." Most people charged with a crime end up taking a plea bargain instead of fighting for it. The prosecutors intimidate, bully and lie to get an easy conviction. They allow child molesters and rapist out on probation to reoffend and lock up the kid that befriended the wrong person 10-20 years for 1 mistake to impress this person. One mistake and their entire life is changed. But some sick, twisted individual turns a child's life upside down and does unspeakable things to them doesn't warrant years in prison. I don't understand that. With the help of technology and my law degree, I will be able to get to the bottom of this and change it or die trying. Technology is exploding. It has the potential to help us solve many problems we face and improve our lives. People are coming up with products that looked impossible only a few years ago. So who knows what's right around the corner.
    Supermom Scholarship
My motivation is showing my boys that they can do anything they set their mind to. I began college right after my youngest was born. I was going to school full-time, working full time and caring for 3 young boys. All while my husband at the time played video games. I realized when we were living in a mouse infested, dirty hotel room it was time to make some changes. Starting with the extra mouth to feed. I left him. Going through a divorce with young kids is not easy. It broke my heart. They were hurting and there was nothing I could do. My grades started slipping and I knew I had to take a break and focus on my children. Finally almost 10 years later, I am able and ready to finish what I started. Now my boys are teenagers. We've had our struggles but they know one thing is for sure. Mom will always be there no matter what. They know they can count on me to follow through with every promise I make and they are my world. Their dad hasn't been the best role model with being in and out of prison, on drugs and won't work to get back at me for divorcing him (he doesn't want to pay child support). On their eyes, mom is stability, a safe place and always will be there. Dad not so much. I want to finish my Bachelor's and go to law school. I've always had an interest in law but thought it would be too difficult or take to long. My oldest is 16 and dropped out of school just like I did when I was his age. I agreed he could do it but he's getting his GED and moving on to a tech school or something. I can't force him to do something that I didn't do. I received my GED but didn't start college until I was in my late 20's. And I didn't finish. So I've decided I'm finishing and going to follow my dreams of becoming a lawyer. I know my kids will be proud to say "my mom is a lawyer" instead of "my mom cleans houses". Plus I'll be able to give them the life they deserve. It would be amazing to go on a family vacation. That's something we've never been able to afford. My children are my motivation when I need it, my support and the comic relief when life gets to serious. I can always count on them for a hug, a laugh or someone to cry with. They are growing up to be very caring, thoughtful men. So I must have done something right considering the odds weren't in our favor. My mom just finished her masters degree a few years ago. She was 55 when she graduated. She is one of the reasons I decided I'm not to old to pursue my dream. I'm only in my 30's. If she can, I can. Plus none of her kids have graduated. And I'm hoping to make her dreams of watching her baby receive a diploma. She's been planning it forever and it never happened. She gave me life, so the least I can do is help make one of her dreams come true. Plus she has been there for my children and I. I don't know how we would have survived without her. I can't wait to walk across that stage with my family there!
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
First I was told it's depression. Then I was told I'm too sensitive. Then it was :you don't express your feelings". Now it's "your bi-polor". I believe it's high functioning autism on top of some traumatic experiences that has made me who I am today. In not a doctor. All I've done is research. You would think I would know my self better than any professional and they would listen to what I have to say. But since they have the degree, they know better than I do. I've always been aware my mind works differently. And I'm OK with that now. That what this world needs is different perspectives. Maybe one day I will finally figure it out but I'm not to worried about it anymore. I will love my life the way I want to. My mind doesn't need to work like everyone else's. I can still accomplish anything I want to. I might have to work at it a little harder but that's OK to. It's what makes me who I am.
    Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship
After losing my grandma I didn't know how I was going to continue living. She was my rock and kept me grounded. But before she passed she made me promise I wouldn't give up. It took some time learning to live in this new world without her right there but I'm getting there. I want nothing more than to finish my degree for her and my children. I know she's watching from wherever she is. And I know it will show my kids that anything is possible once you set your mind to it. Like my grandma always said "you have to fight for what you want or die trying". And that is exactly what I intend to do.
Snap Finance “Funding the Future” Scholarship
I've been a single mother of 3 boys for 10 years. I am returning to school in order to finish my IT degree. After I receive my Bachelor's I plan on applying for law schools. I've always been interested in law and technology. In my lifetime I've seen so many injustices. The amount of money you make, the color of your skin or the title or position you hold shouldn't be the deciding factor of whether you are guilty or innocent. With my law degree I hope to help change the justice system. There is so much corruption throughout the entire system. And many people are being locked up for many years who don't deserve to be punished to that extent. Their crimes didn't hurt anyone else but their entire lives are ruined for 1 mistake. Then there are monsters who don't deserve to be breathing, getting little to no punishment and free to hurt their next victim. The system is broken and I hope to help repair it. And that's where my technology degree comes in. I believe technology is the answer to many of the problems we face. With my technology degree, I want to be a part of the breakthroughs we are making everyday. Technology is everywhere and it's only the beginning. There is so much more we have to discover.
    Women in Tech Scholarship
Technology is changing the world. The progress we are making with technology amazes me. I never thought I'd see cars that drive themselves when I was a little girl. I thought that was only in movies. Or holding a world of knowledge in the palm of your hand. I believe this is only the beginning. At the pace we are going, who knows what will be possible in 30 years... 10 years... even next year. And I want to be a part of that. Leave our children and grandchildren with the foundation to reach the stars.
    Bold Career Goals Scholarship
I dream of becoming a lawyer to help make changes to the injustices many Americans face everyday. I will be the lawyer bold enough to go up against the big cooperation and governments. I have seen the system fail so many. I am determined to take the corrupt down so our children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy the freedoms and rights they are born with.
    Bold Bravery Scholarship
I am raising 3 boys as a single mom. They are now teenagers. There is nothing more brave than walking into a home full of teen boys without hesitation. Did I mention I began homeschooling them this year as well? The school district would not listen to us about following their IEP and I didn't agree with how they handled conflicts.
    Bold Great Books Scholarship
When I was 18, on a Caribbean cruise with my family, I brought a bright orange book with me. The author was Harlan Coben. It stood out at the book store and I figured why not. Once I read the first couple of pages that was it. I couldn't put it down. He can get you within the first page. Not many authors have the ability to do that. I finished it in 2 days! I hated reading while in school so this is very unusual for me. After my mom saw that she had to read it. She's hooked as well. Now I have read everything single book he has written.
