Hello, my name is Hazel González, I am 19 years old and I am from El Salvador. I have two children, a girl and a boy. My childhood in El Salvador made me love art from a very young age. I enjoy creating and experimenting, and I am open to learning and exploring art and its history. I have the most experience in drawing and painting, but I am still learning. I know how to work with leather, making laptop bags, notebooks, and bookmarks. I have made art videos with my audiovisual arts, poetry, and theater teachers. I want to study at university to deepen my knowledge and skills in the visual arts and surround myself with other artists and professionals who share my passion. I am excited and very grateful for this opportunity. Thank you very much for considering me my son Jacob Morales is 8 months old, born on 04/15/2025.

I'm Hazel Gonzalez, an 18-year-old artist from El Salvador. The reason I want to continue my education is that I enjoy learning new things every day. In addition to ensuring a good financial future for myself and my children, I believe that I also contribute something to society. I aim to expand my knowledge of the arts in a professional setting, while also developing my English and artistic skills. Education is important to me because I believe it prepares individuals for many things, such as overcoming our fears, pushing us out of our comfort zone, and allowing us to fail and try again.
I believe that continuing my education benefits my son, Jacob, by providing him with a better economic future and offering him more opportunities, as well as sharing my experience in the arts. By expanding my knowledge in the arts, I believe it’ll allow him a slightly more creative and colorful development, giving him experience in the arts and history, etc. If you’re curious about what might have been the most difficult obstacle I have faced as a mother studying? When my 8-month-old baby got sick with a common virus. It was very difficult to put my studies aside when I was so close to graduation, but my baby needed me. I stopped going to school for a week, just as the Christmas holidays were beginning. It was frustrating because I love to learn, and that meant falling behind with my grades, assignments, etc. While at home, my baby just wanted to be held by me, immobilizing me almost completely. I spent sleepless nights studying and cleaning up vomit so I wouldn't fall behind with my grades. When my baby showed the slightest improvement, I went back to school. It hurt to leave him because I knew he needed me a lot, but what got me through was knowing that I was making the right decision to ensure him a better future.
My motivation to continue studying is my mother, who gave her best years working so that I could study and get a university degree. I want my mother to see that her sacrifice was not in vain and to feel honored. She instilled in me a love of art from an early age and taught us a lot about the artistic world.
I believe that as mothers, we have fewer opportunities to continue studying or to obtain a university degree. I would like to be one of the few young mothers who manage to start and finish university. I truly feel that it is a goal that is worth the effort. I would like my son to feel honored in the future that I have the strength to continue my studies. I want him to feel proud to know that he has a mother who has fought for what she has. My child's name is Jacob Abdel Morales G., and he was born on April 15, 2025.
