Helping others-that is what life is all about to me. I plan on helping the two most important people in our society-mothers and infants. I have developed a passion for childcare while working as a teacher, children's event coordinator, nanny, librarian's' assistant, and now a cafeteria worker. I think my genuine, loving spirit will be of aid in keeping new mother's littlest ones healthy. Investing in me will bring a smiling, nurturing face to a hospital setting. I am the oldest of seven. Caring for others has been built into me and has shaped who I am. I want to be a positive influence on the world that my siblings are growing into.

Being away from blood and guts is what drew me towards my field. It all started when I went about researching healthcare fields that weren't bloody. I was actually researching for a friend. However, something caught my eye. It was lactation consultant. The description entailed details about assisting nursing mothers with nursing and spreading valuable information. I was ready to pursue a career working with babies. I started thinking about how happy I was entertaining my youngest siblings as babies. Showing love is what I strive to do and that has the most affect on a baby. You can spark a twinkle in their eye with a silly noise. It is truly magical. On top of that, I can work in the healthcare setting without getting my hands dirty in ways I'm not comfortable with. I've always admired nurses, however I never felt up to the task. Now, I can help people in a similar way.
I plan on being the bright, nurturing energy a mother needs after giving birth. My mom has given birth six times. While she's had negative encounters with staff, she always tells of at least one person who guided her and made her feel supported. That staff member can range from the nurse at her bed to the person who took her blood. There's a lot of cogs in the birthing machine. I plan on being the one that shines with warmth and compassion. I have a natural way with babies. I know how essential every action made with a baby is. I want to be apart of their brain that signals safety. I will make sure every baby feels unconditional love in my arms. Everything done with a baby should be done with love and care. I will exemplify this through the thousands of babies I will encounter. I will take my natural caregiving essence and combine that with hospital procedures to give mothers and and babies a joyful experience.
I plan on being a resource of valuable information for moms. I will use my knowledge I gain outside of work in my career. I will listen to mother's troubles and ails as I guide them to resources. I will also spread what I learn outside the hospital to my friends who will be new mothers and to anyone I encounter who needs aid. I want to eventually teach nursing and baby care classes. I will stay up to date on the latest information at all times so that every patient of mine gets the most satisfactory care.
Change can start at birth. I will ensure that every baby and mother I encounter feels a difference when I leave the room. For me, change is as simple as kindness. I will show the upmost kindness to my patients to show them the greatness in the world and make a mom a bit less stressed.
