Bio

Ever since I was young I’ve known that I have wanted to help people. No matter what I wanted to be, I knew I wanted to make sure I had a greater impact on someone’s life. Later on, as I grew up, I decided that, given how curious I was and my desire to help people, the best career path for me was to become a Neuropsychologist, no matter how difficult or challenging the path may be. I still aspire to achieve my goal.

Ever since I was younger I knew that I wanted to achieve a higher education. However, as I grew up, I was to realize that my dreams and aspirations in relation to that higher education would appear to be nearly impossible. Both my mother's and Father’s families came from Africa due to the civil war happening in Somalia. The hardships that followed were life-altering in the way that they had decided to seek refuge in Kenya and later to come to the United States. When they came to the United States they were considered lower-class citizens. They have worked hard to achieve their dream of the children having a better education than they ever had, which was none. I wanted to be able to make my parents proud and help make this cruel and harsh world that we're all in. My experience with financial education came directly from watching my mother raising us with money being tight. Growing up I watched as my mother made sure that every dollar counted and that all the needs in the household were fulfilled. As I continued to grow I learned more about understanding finances. I learned about savings and how they can be impactful even if they are done in small amounts. My education in finance hasn’t stopped there I have taken time off to further my education in finance by taking the time to learn about budgeting, saving, and the importance of building credit. I have now understood that the importance of financial literacy especially for students like me who are planning to receive a higher education. Since I intend to major in Neuroscience to become a Neuropsychologist requires years of education and dedication. I plan to approach with responsibility by managing finances, seeking scholarships, and making reasonable financial choices. I want to ensure that my path to becoming a Neuropsychologist becomes a blessing to my life rather than a burden. Now that I am a junior in high school I have realized that those dreams and aspirations hold too much for me to just let go. I have come to realize that I need to fight for them and stick with them to better not only myself but the community as a whole. As I continue my path toward my career I plan to use the money that I can save wisely and invest in my career for the betterment of society and the future leaders of tomorrow.
