As a college student, the one question I get asked the most is what I want to do post graduation, and the answer is simple I want to be a songwriter and producer. I have always connected to music, and as I get older, I realize that what makes you happy is much more important than what makes you money. As the year 2022 begins to unfold, I have made the foundational plans to explorer my music talents while pursuing my education. Mixing music and my education is pivotal to my success as a student and as a future artist. I am currently a 3rd year marketing major at Morgan State University. When I first entered Morgan State, my initial passion was nursing but coming into the program; I quickly learned that nursing and other science-related topics were all things that interest me. I chose nursing because I thought that would make everyone around me happy instead of asking the most important person in my life if that was indeed what I was passionate about. The answer was no, so I took a step back. After taking a variety of career assessments and speaking with my academic advisor, I decided sophomore year that marketing was the path that I wanted to pursue. Marketing allows me to make creative, informative suggestions, and as opposed to nursing, marketing will enable me to free discover different forms of my major. Coming into my major, I began to think about exactly what I wanted to do with my degree. Although pursuing my degree is an excellent milestone, it is also essential that I find a career path that I am passionate about, which also grants me financial freedom. Growing up, I had an evident love for music and the entertainment business in general. So over the past year, my goal has been to merge my desired passions, marketing, and music. This way, when my time comes to devout;t one hundred percent of myself to my career dreams, I will have the talent and business credentials to assist me in my marketing as an artist to help me stay one step ahead of the competition. Finishing my education is important to me for various reasons, one being that has been that being an educated black woman is an honor in itself. My main reason for pursuing my education stems from my childhood. I always struggled with finishing what I started, whether it was after school activities, projects, or even assignments completed m degree will give me comfort in knowing. No matter the odds, I can do anything I put my mind to, no matter the circumstances. While coming to this conclusion on what career path I want to take the following graduation, I did have such assistance in making this decision. Academic and career sites like jobs2careers, indeed, and the universities career center all played significant factors in my decision to view my dreams from multiple perspectives has allowed me to see my future from a broader standpoint.
