    Pro-Life Advocates Scholarship
My conviction that every human life possesses inherent dignity is not an abstract philosophy. It is a principle forged through my own experiences and affirmed by my work in marketing and cultural analysis. This belief compels me to advocate for the protection of all life, from conception to natural death, through a unique approach that combines empathetic storytelling with data-driven evidence. My perspective is shaped by a fundamental understanding that recognizing humanity requires seeing the profound value in every individual story, especially those that remain unheard. My pro-life position solidified during my time studying abroad in South Korea, specifically during a tour of the Amorepacific cosmetics factory. I observed the incredible scientific precision involved in formulating a single skincare product. Researchers dedicated years to understanding cellular processes and protecting fragile formulations. Witnessing this profound respect for complex biological systems at a microscopic level deepened my appreciation for the intricate miracle of human development. It became clear to me that if we assign such value to the science of skin cells, we must assign infinitely greater value to the unique, unrepeatable human life developing in the womb. This experience shifted my belief from a personal feeling to a reasoned conclusion, based on the observable marvels of human biology. I actively promote this value for human dignity through my initiative, UNIGLOW. The project's mission is to celebrate cultural beauty practices by highlighting their profound historical significance and the human stories behind them. I consciously choose to feature cultures and traditions that are often marginalized or misrepresented. By providing a platform for these narratives, I challenge the modern cultural tendency to disregard what is unfamiliar or inconvenient. I apply this same principle to my advocacy. I promote the value of the unborn by ensuring their narrative is part of our cultural conversation. I use my platform to share well-researched information on fetal development, emphasizing the scientific consensus that life begins at conception. I focus on creating content that appeals to reason and compassion, much like the educational carousels I develop for UNIGLOW that have reached thousands. Furthermore, my analytical work with the Holocaust Remembrance Association taught me how data can serve human dignity. I managed campaigns that shared the stories of individuals deemed "inconvenient" by a corrupt regime. Analyzing engagement metrics, I learned how to present brutal truths in a way that resonates with a modern audience. I apply these same skills to the pro-life cause. I use data to articulate the humanity of the unborn, sharing the number of heartbeats detected at specific gestational ages or the developmental milestones reached before birth. This strategy makes the abstract tangible. It moves the conversation beyond philosophy and into the realm of undeniable biological fact. My future actions will expand this data-driven and compassionate advocacy. I plan to partner with local pregnancy resource centers to offer my marketing skills on a pro bono basis. I will help them develop effective communication strategies that reach women in crisis pregnancies with messages of support and resources, not judgment. The most powerful advocacy meets people where they are with both truth and love. I will continue to use my voice, both online and in my community, to champion a culture that sees every life—from the womb to natural death—as a gift worthy of protection, celebration, and unwavering support.
    FIAH Scholarship
My name is Hao Phu Nguyen, and I am an honors Business and Marketing student at Lone Star College-Kingwood. I plan to make a positive impact on the global community by revolutionizing the fashion and beauty industry. My goal is to become a Creative Director who champions authentic cultural representation, utilizing data-driven strategies to replace appropriation with appreciation and to develop a visual language that celebrates diversity rather than conformity. My ambition is not theoretical; it is a direct response to the transformative experiences that have shaped my worldview and my proven commitment to action. My journey toward this goal began with a deep immersion into cultural storytelling through my initiative, UNIGLOW. This platform promotes cultural awareness in beauty by educating audiences on the historical significance behind global beauty practices. I develop detailed content that explains the origins of traditions like Korean hanbang skincare or Nigerian hair braiding, moving beyond trendy aesthetics to foster genuine understanding. This project embodies my core belief that genuine inclusivity necessitates education and respect. UNIGLOW is my first active step toward making a difference, creating a small but growing community dedicated to mindful consumption and appreciation. This hands-on experience taught me the power of narrative and the importance of building bridges between cultures through shared curiosity about beauty. However, my perspective shifted fundamentally during a study abroad program in South Korea. A tour of the Amorepacific factory provided a masterclass in ethical innovation. I witnessed the seamless integration of cutting-edge automation with a deep reverence for traditional Korean herbal medicine. I noticed that their most successful products were not only scientifically advanced but also embedded with a cultural story that gave them authentic meaning. This experience proved that global success and artistic integrity are not mutually exclusive. It demonstrated that a brand can honor its heritage while innovating for a worldwide market. This revelation became the cornerstone of my professional philosophy. I realized my impact could be magnified by working within the industry to change its standards, ensuring diverse narratives are woven into the fabric of major brands from the inside out. My plan to create impact is clear and strategic. In the short term, I aim to complete my degree in Business and Marketing, with a focus on data analytics and intercultural communication. This expertise will allow me to quantify consumer desire for authenticity and present compelling business cases for diversity. In the long term, I aim to secure a leadership role at a global fashion magazine or a beauty conglomerate. In this position, I will utilize my skills to shape the stories that are told and how they are presented. I will champion photographers, designers, and models from underrepresented communities, ensuring their voices help shape the industry's future. I will use data to track the resonance of these authentic campaigns, proving that inclusivity is not just a moral imperative but a commercial advantage. Ultimately, beauty is a universal language with the power to connect us. My experiences have equipped me with a unique blend of cultural empathy, strategic analysis, and entrepreneurial initiative. I understand that making a difference requires both the creative vision to imagine a more inclusive world and the practical skills to bring it into existence. I am not just dreaming of change; I am actively preparing to bring it about. By continuing to merge storytelling with strategy, I will work to ensure the global marketplace reflects the beautiful diversity of the world it serves, creating a community where everyone can see themselves represented with integrity and respect.
    Neal Hartl Memorial Sales/Marketing Scholarship
I chose marketing because it is the perfect intersection of analytical strategy and human understanding. For me, this field is about listening to what people value, then creating solutions that resonate. My inspiration crystallized during a tour of the Amorepacific factory in South Korea, where I watched a global brand integrate cutting-edge technology with respect for traditional Korean herbal medicine, known as hanbang. Standing there, I smelled the earthy aroma of fermenting herbs destined for products—a sensory experience that cemented my understanding of authentic brand storytelling. That moment showed me how marketing can honor heritage while driving innovation—a balance I strive to achieve. Through my initiative, UNIGLOW, I apply the same principle of cultural respect, using marketing to build bridges between communities and products they trust. At Amorepacific, I observed marketers who served as cultural translators rather than salespeople. They knew every product must balance scientific efficacy and cultural storytelling to build lasting trust. I watched technicians operate advanced extraction machines while explaining how each formula connected to centuries-old Korean beauty rituals recorded in historical texts. The marketing team spent months researching regional customs before launching, ensuring that their messaging reflected a genuine understanding of the local culture, rather than simply asking for a sale. This approach requires curiosity and discipline—a combination that drives my work and reflects the dedication Neal Hartl demonstrated. His ability to connect with people came from the same patient commitment to understanding first and selling second, a philosophy I’ve adopted as my foundation. I launched UNIGLOW to bring these ideas to life, creating a platform that explores cultural beauty practices worldwide. Our content covers everything from the geometry of Nigerian braiding patterns to the seven-step methodology of Japanese skincare. Each post is the result of thorough research, often involving interviews with practitioners and academic sources. I remember one message from a follower in Vietnam who wrote, "Seeing our traditional ao dai styling techniques presented with such respect made me proud of my heritage in a new way." This feedback confirmed marketing succeeds when it serves people’s desire for authenticity and belonging rather than pushing products. The trust we’ve built with our community comes from prioritizing education over promotion, a lesson I learned from Amorepacific’s approach. My work with the Holocaust Remembrance Association refined my sense of responsibility as a marketer. I managed campaigns that increased engagement by 40% by striking a balance between content accuracy and compassionate storytelling. This growth meant educating people about history while honoring the experiences of survivors. I learned to handle profound narratives with care, using data not just to maximize clicks but to deepen understanding and foster dialogue. This experience proved effective marketing balances analytical rigor with ethical empathy—a balance I strive to bring to all my projects and one that reflects Neal Hartl’s integrity. Looking forward, I aim to become a marketing director who leads with cultural intelligence and strategic insight, helping brands create campaigns that respect audiences while driving growth. The Neal Hartl Memorial Scholarship resonates with me because it recognizes that lasting success in sales and marketing comes from building genuine connections rather than closing transactions. This scholarship would support my education as I continue developing skills through courses in intercultural communication and consumer psychology. I am committed to building a career that honors Neal Hartl's legacy of meaningful connections, using marketing not to sell products but to create understanding and value. His example inspires me to pursue business with ambition and heart, measuring success not just in revenue but in relationships and trust earned.
    Sangha Support Scholarship
“Compassion is the foundation of a peaceful heart.” This teaching from my grandmother, a lifelong Buddhist practitioner, was the constant refrain of my childhood. Raised by my grandparents, my early life was steeped in the rhythms of the temple—the scent of incense, the sound of chanting, and the profound quiet of meditation. While my grandparents embodied a traditional path of devotion, my own relationship with Buddhism has evolved into a modern interpretation of these ancient principles. My Dharma is not found in a monastery, but in the marketplace, and my practice of compassion is expressed through my work, using strategic marketing to build inclusive communities and give a voice to those who have been overlooked. My grandparents’ faith was my first teacher. They showed me that Buddhism is not a passive belief system but an active practice of mindfulness, empathy, and right action. From my grandfather, I learned the value of quiet contemplation before making a decision. From my grandmother, I learned that genuine compassion requires action to alleviate the suffering of others. These lessons became my moral compass. However, I also witnessed the financial constraints they and their small temple faced, a clear example of the funding challenges this scholarship seeks to address. This early exposure taught me that spiritual work requires practical support to thrive, a lesson that informs my ambition to create sustainable systems for community care. This understanding of practical compassion shapes my future goals. I do not aspire to become a traditional priest, but rather a different kind of community caretaker. My goal is to become a Creative Director in the beauty and fashion industry, a field that profoundly influences cultural norms and self-perception. The principles of Right Livelihood and compassion must enter this global conversation. I plan to leverage the analytical skills from my business studies to deconstruct harmful beauty standards and the storytelling skills from my marketing education to build campaigns that celebrate diversity rather than conformity. My visit to the Amorepacific factory in South Korea was a revelation; I saw how a major corporation could integrate respect for traditional Korean hanbang medicine with cutting-edge innovation. This is the model I wish to emulate: a business that honors cultural roots while moving forward. My initiative, UNIGLOW, is the first manifestation of this goal. It is my Bodhisattva vow in action—a platform dedicated to educating others on the cultural significance of global beauty practices. Every Instagram carousel I create featuring Ojibwe beadwork or Filipino tattooing is an act of reverence and education, designed to combat cultural appropriation and foster a deeper understanding. This work benefits my community by creating a digital sangha, a community of learners who support and educate one another. It provides the representation that I, and so many others, craved but rarely saw in mainstream media. Upon graduation, I plan to expand this work. I will use my degree to secure a leadership role where I can influence brand ethics on a larger scale, advocating for marketing budgets to support campaigns that promote mental well-being and diverse representation. I also plan to launch a formal mentorship program within UNIGLOW, offering pro bono marketing strategy sessions to small, spiritually minded businesses and nonprofits that lack resources. This is how I choose to serve. I will use my skills to build bridges, leveraging the tools of the modern world to meet timeless human needs for connection, understanding, and compassion. My practice is to make a table where everyone has a seat, ensuring the peaceful heart my grandmother taught me to cultivate is reflected in the world we all see every day.
Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship
My story begins not on a tennis court, but in the space between cultures. As a first-generation student from a low-income background, I learned early that the most valuable games are often played off the court, in the quiet determination to create opportunities where none seem to exist. My journey has been shaped by the challenge of building bridges—between my Vietnamese heritage and my American future, between financial limitations and big dreams, and between global beauty traditions and a more inclusive industry. This pursuit has forged in me a resilience and community-focused drive that mirrors the very values Sloane Stephens champions through her foundation. My first major obstacle was the daunting world of college applications. My family, while deeply loving, was unable to guide me through the complex processes of financial aid and scholarships. We lacked the resources and the generational knowledge. I became my own coach, spending countless hours in the public library researching opportunities. This taught me a powerful lesson in self-advocacy and relentless perseverance. The discipline required to navigate this alone was my first taste of the resilience Sloane’s grandparents instilled in her. I learned that sometimes, you have to create your own court to play on. That hard-won opportunity led me to a study abroad program in South Korea, an experience that fundamentally reshaped my perspective. A tour of the Amorepacific factory was my match point. I witnessed the beautiful synergy between cutting-edge technology and deep respect for traditional Korean herbal medicine, known as hanbang. I saw that innovation does not erase tradition; it elevates it. This was a revelation. In that moment, I understood my life's work: to become a cultural translator in the global beauty industry, ensuring diverse traditions are celebrated with authenticity and respect, not appropriation. This vision gave birth to my initiative, UNIGLOW. Much like the Sloane Stephens Foundation creates safe spaces for youth to learn and grow, UNIGLOW is my platform to create a respectful space for learning about cultural beauty practices. Through carefully researched Instagram content and animated tutorials, we educate our audience on a wide range of topics, from the history of Nigerian hair braiding to the significance of Korean skincare rituals. UNIGLOW is my way of leveling the playing field, ensuring that these rich cultural narratives are understood and appreciated correctly, empowering others with knowledge and confidence. My passion for this work is deeply personal. Navigating my own gender identity in a traditional environment taught me the profound importance of self-care and authentic expression. This struggle for self-belief directly connects to the mission of Doc & Glo. Your brand empowers everyone to face each day with confidence and care; my work with UNIGLOW seeks to empower individuals through cultural understanding and self-knowledge. Both are rooted in the belief that true confidence comes from within and is nurtured by community and respect. I aspire to become a Creative Director who leverages this philosophy to build brands that are both innovative and deeply inclusive. The Doc & Glo scholarship would provide crucial support for the next chapter of my education, enabling me to develop further the data analytics and strategic marketing skills necessary to scale UNIGLOW’s impact. This investment would empower me to continue building bridges, creating more spaces where everyone feels seen, respected, and confident in their own skin—honoring the legacy of Doc & Glo by helping others move through life with purpose and care.
