Bio

Despite how young I am I have many plans and goals to achieve and follow through with. I'm interested in engineering due to how using math and physics can create something that can be beneficial for people. It's truly where math and art come together to make something entirely new. Growing up I was diagnosed with apraxia and dyspraxia at the age of 3 I have been in numerous speech therapy classes, and have always been left out because of my motor skills. Yet, despite that I work hard everyday to prove to myself that I can create something. And, that something can hopefully help people. In my free time I love to draw and make music with my piano and saxophone. After all, creation is the thesis for life and innovations. I have taken AP and Dual enrollment classes, and I'm apart of the Early College program in my high school. Meaning by the time I graduate I will also get my associates degree in art. Some more information about me is that I'm Hispanic, my mother was from Mexico and my dad is from the U.S, and that I'm an lesbian. Because of me both being Hispanic and Part of the LGBTQ community I'm an passionate advocate for racial equality and human rights.

    Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
My simple pleasure in my life is to create art. To be honest I always had an complicated relationship with making art and my whole creative process on general. This is all started when I was diagnose with dyspraxia at 4 years old. Because of this neurological disease making my motor skills worse than the average person this stopped me from ever creating art in the first place. After all what was the point of even trying if it was going to be lesser than an normal person's creation. Yet, despite these thoughts in the spring of 2019 I suddenly got the need to create something. At first I ignored it scoffing at the stupid idea, but after at least three days of this mental struggle I gave in. At first when I made an simple doddle of an human face I of course immediately hated it, yet despite that I continued this journey. Over time I soon realized that despite my "failings" as an artist I grew to love the process of it. Every day I drew something at least for thirty minutes, and to be quite frank I always looked forward to those thirty minutes. Soon, those thirty minutes became forty, an hour, and now two hours. Drawing in an way made me proud of myself. To create something all on your own while using your imagination it made me really appreciate my existence despite my disorder. It gave me the power to create, to fully live my life, it stopped me from giving up my passion and to seek out the wonderous colors of humanity.
