Stranger Things is one of the most popular science fiction shows of today. Through the use of the 80s style, supernatural beings, and the horrific trials faced by the characters, this show has become quite a phenomenon. Therefore, the ultimate cast of three characters I would choose while facing supernaturals would be Dustin, Eleven, and Hopper. These characters are unique and would serve as the optimal power group when danger is present. When in danger, Dustin Henderson is a must-have. He may not be the best at fighting or have superpowers, but his brain makes him a necessary member. Dustin is extremely quick at problem-solving, as he once helped figure out a Russian transmission. Besides his skills in math and science, he is also always there for his friends in need. Even in a moment that seems permanently sad, he is there to cheer everyone up with his good-natured spirit. Overall, Dustin is the glue that strengthens the squad. While Dustin has the intelligence, Eleven, like the mitochondria, is the powerhouse in all forces of supernatural beings. Eleven is one of the strongest characters; she has incredible telekinetic abilities. Even though Eleven is only a teenage girl, she can defeat anything with determination. Since she has been in solitude for so long, she has a strong mentality and does not succumb to hardships. Even if she were to lose her powers, she would still be passionate and a much-needed asset to the team, as she is very loyal and has a lot of perseverance. Hopper may not be the smartest or most powerful, but he has the strength and bravery a team needs. Since he is a former detective, he has many years of experience in knowing the brains of criminals. He is also skilled in combat. As the oldest, he will lead the way through whatever terrain ahead while protecting Eleven and Dustin. Hopper truly cares for others and will shield them, even if his rough exterior makes one think otherwise. So, when danger lies ahead, the most fit squad to complete the job would include Dustin, Eleven, and Hopper. Cooperatively, they are clever, steadfast, and strong, all qualities that produce a perfect team for defeating challenges in the Upside Down. Together, their courage provides a sense of security in a terrifying world of the unknown.

On December 26, 2023, I was mindlessly scrolling through TikTok and abruptly paused. There was a video featuring 7 young men standing there accepting some award for their group: Stray Kids. I am not sure what drew me in. Maybe it was the Australian accent from Felix that hypnotized me, or maybe it was the fact that all the members looked so incredibly thankful to be getting an award, but whatever it was, I knew I had to see more. In my discovery, I realized they could not only make me smile but also make others happy and shape the world of K-Pop. Since their debut in 2018, Stray Kids has made a significant impact on my life as my favorite group as well as globally through their music, strong messages, and authentic connections with fans everywhere. Stray Kids’ music is constantly making cultural impacts because of its versatility. The members write and produce their music. They create songs that range in a multitude of different genres, like rock, pop, and even EDM, which all create quite a distinct discography. For example, one of their new albums, ROCK-STAR, features an upbeat rock song such as, “LALALALA” and a sad heartbreak song such as, “Leave.” Since Stray Kids has such a diverse range of music, they are setting new standards for K-Pop. After all, they are the first K-Pop group to attend the Met Gala. Overall, they inspire many by changing norms in the world of K-Pop. While the versatility of Stray Kids’ discography is influential, so are the messages they put out in their songs. The members of Stray Kids are consistently releasing songs that deal with major topics. One song, “Young Wings,” conveys messages that I and other teens fear: the idea of becoming an adult. This song means a lot to me, as it convinces me I am not the only one with these feelings. This is just one of the many songs that convey similar ideas that have pushed me to be determined and think more positively. In an interview, Stray Kids’ member Changbin even expresses that the point of their music is for young adults and teens to be “... questioning and figuring out their life.” Stray Kids strives to make people like me feel appreciated by relating and putting personal experiences into their music. This originality stimulates a feeling that all people, even Stray Kids, are on a journey of growth. The messages of Stray Kids are very important and lead to authentic connections between the group and their fans around the world. I can only speak English, but despite this obvious language barrier, it never stops others and me from staying engaged. Stray Kids’ motto is “Stray Kids everywhere all around the world, you make Stray Kids stay.” This expression insinuates Stray Kids are appreciative and want to show gratitude for the support they receive from fans in all parts of the world. As global ambassadors, they donate to charities and use their money for good. Through the multiple amounts of fan meetings, world tours, and social media livestreams, there is no boundary Stray Kids cannot cross. In conclusion, Stray Kids has manifested as an impactful K-Pop group with the use of creativity in mixing genres, providing deep morals, and developing genuine connections with fans. Stray Kids have not only filled me with joy but also have given hope to new K-Pop trainees and listeners around the world. They have left a remarkable legacy on the world and will continue to do so for generations to come.
