Bio

My life goals are to get a good education, start a family, and be happy. I live, and grew up in a small town in Utah, and because of this, I am very family-centered. In my free time, I like to spend time outside with my family, working on the farm. I also like to do crafts like crocheting and sewing, and cooking and baking cookies. When I graduate, I would like to go to an in-state cosmetology school.

    Nervo "Revolution" Scholarship
My biggest artistic ambition is to help women of all age and races feel and look beautiful. I know that that statement can come across sounding conceited, but I know the difference that feeling beautiful in your own skin can make you feel. When I was younger I had a hard time feeling comfortable and beautiful. I cried all the time to my mom about not feeling pretty, and finally she got sick of it and took me to get my hair done. I was in fourth grade. I just got a few highlights put in, but this made a world of difference with my self confidence. Ever sense then, I have wanted to go into a career in cosmetology. I want to help people feel beautiful. I know this isn’t the most conventional form of artistry, but there are so many different ways you can be creative in the cosmetology field. This scholarship would help me achieve my dream of boosting people’s confidence.

    Better Food, Better World Scholarship
I think that finding good sources for natural food, and healthy food in general is very important. I am also very passionate about our environment and helping to preserve and protect it. I try to eat and stay very healthy, and I am mindful of my actions and their impact on our environment. It is so important to do our best to keep the earth the healthiest it can be, not just for us but for future generations. I am a senior in high school, and for the past few years I have been very active in our school’s greenhouse program. We have a fairly large greenhouse on school property, and we learn how to grow plants and food, and all about soil. Through this I have learned how to grow my own food, and do this in a natural, sustainable way. In a plant and soil science class that I am currently in, I have learned all about the different soil layers and what each does and which nutrients it includes. Along with that, we learned about the impacts that pollution does, whether it is air, or soil pollution. I believe that we all need to do better and take better care of our bodies and this beautiful world that we live on. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn more about this through school and personal research. This year, I have taken 5 agricultural classes, centered around the earth and nature.
Gabriella Carter Failure Doesn't Define Me Scholarship
A year ago, I started hanging out with the wrong group of people, and this shifted my whole life around. My new "friends" weren't real friends at all. They weren't looking out for me or encouraging me to be my best. Instead they were helping me make poor decisions, ones that were eventually going to be very detrimental to my health, and my overall quality of life. The thing that really got me to see what I was doing was my mom. One day she came up to me and told me that she just wanted her little girl back. The one who always had a smile on her face and didn't have a care in the world. That really hit me hard. I didn't realize it, but by doing those bad things, I was changing into a person that I didn't want to be. When I stopped spending my time around them, I suddenly had no friends. It was so lonely, and a lot of times I just wanted to give up and go back to my old friends and the old decisions that I was making. But luckily I had my family and made some better friends that helped me make better decisions. It has helped me set long time goals, and really give some thought about who I want to become, and what I want to do. I am grateful that I went through this trail because it has helped me put my actions in perspective.
    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
When I was a freshman in high school, I started having a really hard time with anxiety and depression. It's something that my mom struggles with, and so does my sister, and so when I came to my mom for help she was very understanding. I feel like my relationships have definitely been influenced by my mental health. When you are feeling that way, it's hard to feel like anyone understands you. You feel alone, and how could anyone possibly help you if they can't relate to you. So because of this I started distancing myself from everyone around me. I stopped going to activities, stopped hanging out with friends, even stopped getting out of bed. Mental health is a huge factor in our overall health, and that's something that not many people understand. My career aspirations changed because I simply didn't see a future beyond this illness. I couldn't even get out of bed, let alone think about what I wanted to do for the rest go my life.
    Scholarcash Role Model Scholarship
My biggest role model is definitely my mom. My mom is the strongest person I know. She has been through so much, and she never let it get to her. Through every trial she was put through, she faced it with a whole lot of faith and bravery, and I really admire that in her. When I was younger, she went through a very abusive relationship with my dad. Every day was a battle, and even with everything going on, she didn't let it get in the way of giving her kids the childhood that we deserved. My parents got a divorce when I was five, and we moved to a different state to live with my grandparents. It was hard on my mom, but eventually we moved into a different house, and she was a single mom for a few years. She had to sacrifice so much for her children, but we never heard her complain. Sometimes she'll tell us stories about how she always worried she wasn't a good enough mom, and sometimes she wondered how we were going to turn out without having our dad around. My mom remarried a great guy, now she is really happy. They have a great relationship. When I look at my mom and stepdad's relationship, I can see how much he respects her, which gives me high expectations for my future relationships. My mom was strong enough to leave a broken relationship, even though she was scared of the uncertainty of her new life. My mom has helped shape me into who I am today, because of the person that she is. I am proud of how strong she is, and I am so thankful for the sacrifices she made for her kids, and continues to make. When I eventually get married and have kids, I hope to be half the mom and woman that she is.
