Bio

My life goal is to build a meaningful career in nursing where I can make a positive difference in the lives of others. I am currently pursuing my LPN and plan to continue my education through an LPN-to-RN bridge program. I want to become a registered nurse and continue growing professionally while providing compassionate, high-quality care to my patients. Beyond my career, I want to create financial stability for myself and my family, serve my community, and be an example to others who are working toward their own goals despite challenges along the way. I am most passionate about helping people and making others feel cared for, respected, and heard. After years of working as a CNA and gaining experience in healthcare, I have seen firsthand how much compassion and patience can impact a person’s experience. Nursing is more than a career to me, it is an opportunity to advocate for people when they are at their most vulnerable. I am also passionate about education and personal growth. I believe that continuing to learn and challenge myself will allow me to become the best nurse and person I can be. I am a great candidate because I am hardworking, determined, compassionate, and committed to my education. My experience as a CNA has taught me the importance of patience, empathy, teamwork, and dedication. I understand that becoming a nurse requires sacrifice and perseverance, and I am willing to put in the work necessary to reach my goals. Receiving this scholarship would help support me as I complete my LPN program and continue toward becoming an RN.

Bick First Generation Scholarship
Being a first-generation student means more to me than being the first person in my family to pursue higher education. It means having the courage to create a path that may not have been clearly mapped out for me. It means learning how to navigate college, financial responsibilities, and a demanding healthcare program while figuring things out along the way. Most importantly, it means having the opportunity to change the direction of my future and create opportunities for the people who come after me. My journey has not always been easy. I have had to balance school with work and personal responsibilities while pursuing a career in healthcare. I have worked as a CNA for several years in memory care, assisted living, home health, and hospital settings. Working while going to school has taught me how to manage my time, remain disciplined, and continue moving forward even when I am tired or overwhelmed. There have been moments when I questioned whether I could handle everything, but I reminded myself that the challenges I face today are temporary compared to the future I am working to build. My experience in healthcare is one of the biggest reasons I decided to continue my education. Caring for others has shown me that nursing is where I belong. I am currently pursuing my LPN and plan to continue into an LPN-to-RN bridge program. My ultimate goal is to become a registered nurse and build a stable, meaningful career where I can make a difference in the lives of my patients and my community. What drives me is the desire to help others while also becoming the best version of myself. I want to be someone my family can be proud of and someone who can encourage others to pursue their goals, even when the journey feels difficult. I want my education to be more than a personal accomplishment. I want it to be an example that perseverance and determination can create new possibilities. Receiving this scholarship would make a meaningful difference in my journey. As a student balancing education and work, financial support would help reduce some of the stress that comes with paying for school and allow me to focus more of my energy on completing my program. It would help me purchase educational materials, manage school-related expenses, and continue moving toward my nursing goals without allowing financial obstacles to slow me down. I do not expect my journey to be perfect, and I know there will be more challenges ahead. What I do know is that I am determined to keep going. Being a first-generation student has taught me to be courageous, resourceful, and persistent. I am proud of how far I have come, and I am even more excited about where I am going. This scholarship would not simply support my education; it would support a dream that I am working every day to turn into reality.
Catrina Celestine Aquilino Memorial Scholarship
I am a hardworking, compassionate, and determined person who has always found purpose in helping others. My journey into healthcare began with my experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work in memory care, assisted living, home health, and hospital settings. Each experience has shaped me not only as a healthcare professional, but also as a person. Caring for others has taught me patience, empathy, responsibility, and the importance of treating every individual with dignity. As a CNA, I quickly learned that healthcare is about much more than completing tasks. Patients and their families often experience some of the most difficult and uncertain moments of their lives. Sometimes, the most meaningful thing I can do is listen, offer reassurance, or simply make someone feel seen and cared for. Those experiences inspired me to pursue my LPN and continue working toward becoming a registered nurse. My current goal is to complete my LPN program, pass the NCLEX-PN, and continue my education through an LPN-to-RN bridge program. I want to build a lifelong career in nursing where I can continue learning, growing, and serving others. I am especially passionate about providing compassionate care to people who may feel vulnerable or unable to advocate for themselves. I want my patients to know that they are more than a diagnosis or a room number. They are people deserving of respect, patience, and quality care. My journey has not always been easy. Balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities has challenged me in ways that have required discipline and perseverance. There have been times when I felt exhausted or overwhelmed, but I have learned not to allow temporary challenges to determine my future. Instead, I remind myself of why I started. My experiences have taught me that success is not always about moving forward quickly; sometimes it is simply about refusing to give up. I plan to make a positive impact on the world by using my nursing career to serve others and advocate for better healthcare experiences. I want to be the nurse who takes the extra moment to explain something to a confused patient, comfort a frightened family member, or speak up when something does not seem right. I believe that positive change can happen through small, consistent acts of compassion. I also hope to inspire others who may be pursuing their education while facing financial, personal, or academic challenges. I want people to see that your starting point does not have to determine your destination. Through education, hard work, and perseverance, it is possible to create a different future. Ultimately, I do not want my career to be defined only by a title. I want it to be defined by the lives I touch. Becoming a nurse will give me the opportunity to combine my skills, compassion, and dedication to make a meaningful difference. I am proud of how far I have come, and I am excited about where this journey will take me. My goal is to leave every patient, family, and community I serve a little better than I found them.
Slater Miller Memorial Scholarship
I chose to pursue a career in the trades because I wanted to build a career that combines purpose, skill, and service to others. For me, nursing is a skilled profession that requires much more than compassion alone. It requires education, hands-on training, critical thinking, communication, patience, and the ability to make important decisions when people are depending on you. After working as a CNA for several years in memory care, assisted living, home health, and hospital settings, I realized that I wanted to take the next step in my career. My experiences caring for others inspired me to pursue my LPN and eventually become a registered nurse. Working in healthcare has allowed me to see how much skilled workers contribute to people’s lives every day. I have cared for people during some of their most vulnerable moments, and those experiences have taught me the importance of treating every person with dignity and respect. I have learned that even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference. Whether it is helping someone with their daily needs, comforting a patient who is afraid, or advocating for someone who cannot speak for themselves, I want my work to have a positive impact. One social cause I care deeply about is access to quality healthcare. I believe everyone deserves to receive safe, respectful, and compassionate care, regardless of their financial situation, age, or circumstances. Too many people face barriers when trying to receive the care they need. I want to be part of the solution by becoming a knowledgeable and compassionate healthcare professional who treats every patient as a person first. I am also passionate about education and creating opportunities for people to improve their lives. I understand firsthand that pursuing an education while working and managing other responsibilities can be difficult. However, I believe education and skilled training can create opportunities for financial stability, independence, and a better future. I want to encourage others to believe that their circumstances do not have to determine where they end up. My ultimate goal is to complete my LPN program, pass my NCLEX-PN, and continue into an LPN-to-RN bridge program. I hope to use my career to serve my community, support my family, and make a lasting difference in the lives of my patients. I am proud of the path I have chosen because nursing allows me to turn my passion for helping others into a valuable skill and a lifelong career.
Bick Vocational/Trade School Scholarship
My decision to pursue a career in nursing was inspired by my desire to care for others and make a meaningful difference in their lives. I have spent years working as a CNA, caring for people in memory care, assisted living, home health, and hospital settings. Those experiences showed me that healthcare is more than completing tasks, it is about compassion, patience, advocacy, and being there for someone when they need help the most. Over time, I realized that I wanted to take the next step in my career and expand the ways I could serve my patients. I am currently pursuing my LPN and plan to continue my education through an LPN-to-RN bridge program. My ultimate goal is to become a registered nurse and build a long-term career in healthcare. I am passionate about nursing because it allows me to combine my love for helping people with my desire to continue learning and growing. My journey has not always been easy. Balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities has challenged me to become more disciplined and resilient. There have been moments when I felt overwhelmed, but I reminded myself why I started. Instead of allowing obstacles to stop me, I have learned to ask for help, manage my time, stay focused, and keep moving forward. My years of working in healthcare have also taught me that perseverance is just as important as knowledge. I believe skilled work matters because it directly impacts people’s lives and communities. Nurses and other skilled healthcare professionals provide essential care that people depend on every day. The knowledge, technical skills, and compassion required in nursing cannot be replaced by simply having good intentions. Skilled workers are needed, valued, and essential to the strength of our communities. Receiving this scholarship would help me continue my education and reduce some of the financial pressure that comes with pursuing a career in healthcare. It would allow me to focus more of my time and energy on my education, complete my LPN program, and continue working toward my RN. I have already come a long way, and I am proud of the journey I am on. My goal is not simply to earn a title, it is to become a knowledgeable, compassionate nurse who makes a difference in every patient’s life. This scholarship would help me take another important step toward that goal.
