Bold PointsBio
I am an avid equestrian, and I'm currently training my friend's dressage mare up the levels. My eventual goal is to compete at the international level. As of now, I ride training/first level. I've always struggled to afford riding, because in my area there are few opportunities to work off lessons; however, I've managed. Because it is difficult to juggle riding, school, and work, I plan to pay forward the kind opportunities given to me by starting my own scholarship fund for lower-class equestrians. To do that, I will need a well-paying job.
"You’re so amazing, and you still have your whole life ahead of you. The amount of work that I see you doing in life and in writing is one of the reasons why I can no longer settle for the life I have and work to build a better life for myself." - A friend
In my spare time, I write. My current writing project is an epic fantasy novel. Late 2021, I founded a writing critique group. Members are from all over the world - from the US to Sri Lanka. Every single member is extraordinary in their own right and I'm honored to interact with all of them every day.
Regarding my educational plans; I will transfer to Emory & Henry in the Fall and pursue a Biology degree. After that point, I will continue my education to get a DVM PhD.

Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
1. I lack funds but have brains.
2. I want to get a DVM-PhD so that I can finally do that experiment on my cat. It would be for science.
3. I grew up near a roller-blading ring. I loved to spend time there. Once a week, we had a limbo night. Usually, I struggled. I was one of the first people out and it always frustrated me. However, a friend pointed out that I could wear roller blades on my hands - it was not against the rules. So, one night, I got two pairs of skates. I finally won.
Bold Study Strategies Scholarship
I do not study in the traditional manner. I've never re-read the textbook, used flash-cards, or studied my old notes. However, I make a concerted effort to gain a full understanding of my course material without re-doing the same things.
I'll never look at my notes after I write them. Rather, I expand upon my notes from class by making graphic-organizers and flow charts. By sorting the information in a manner that seems logical helps improve the recall. While cultivating my notes, I ask myself, "does this make sense?" If the information confuses me, I research further and make specific notes to clarify that section.
Before tests, I go to YouTube and find videos on the subject material to watch. I never watch the same video twice; however, I often watch multiple videos on the same topic. This helps me see the information from different angles, and helps me gain a more full understanding. That's the main objective during my study sessions; improve comprehension of the material.
Mental Health Movement Scholarship
I was born into a broken home. My father was a narcissist and my mother was an insomniac. I used to love learning. I was a teachers pet. One day on the bus an older student pushed me down and messed up my back. I became afraid of school. I would run out of the building at 6 years old. Teachers didn't know how to help me and so they pushed me away. I was put into an alternative education program when I was 9. From the time I was 9 to the time I was 14 I was heavily bullied. I was depressed and wanted to commit suicide. When I was 10 my mother put me into therapy. Slowly but surely, I learned how to be 'normal.' I learned to love myself.
I cry when I look back on it, but I love my story. It's my badge of honor. One day, I'd like to write a book on my experiences in alternative education. I'd like to talk about my road to recovery and perhaps add some insight regarding what it takes to rehab a mentally damaged individual. I believe that sharing this would help others who're going through their own struggles. Because they can draw parallels between my story and their own. It provides hope that things will get better. I also believe that this sort of insight could garner compassion towards mentally ill individuals from the larger community which would indirectly help. The more understanding we are, the better off we will be.
