This poem is a painful expression of the way I felt after a person who I had considered to be one of my best friends betrayed me by spreading rumors about me. I feel like this poem relates to everyone who has ever felt betrayed or hurt by someone they cared about.
Left
When you left it burnt me through and through
But you didn’t really care, did you?
You turned your back and walked away,
Leaving me to burn in the fray,
But I walked through the fire,
No thanks to you,
And I rose even higher,
stronger than that girl you knew.
Pain and suffering have always followed me
But they just burn all around like a fire around a tree
So go ahead,
Walk away,
Leave me for dead,
But I'll live another day.
The pain you caused means nothing to me,
Because you are but a weed at the foot of this great tree.
