      As the captain of my majorette team and recording secretary, I am deeply involved in various services within my high school organizations and community. I hold the role of Head Captain on Renaissance’s Prancing Phoenix Majorette team. Within my role, I led by example, fostering teamwork, discipline, and dedication among my team mates. I organize and coordinate team practices, performances, and events, ensuring smooth operations and promoting a positive team culture. Additionally, I serve as Recording Secretary for the AKATeens of Detroit. I play a crucial role in documenting important information, meeting minutes, and organizational records. I maintain accurate records of meetings, correspondences, and membership rosters, facilitating effective communication and decision-making within the organization. Outside of my organizational roles, I actively participate in community service initiatives, volunteering my time and efforts to support local causes and organizations. Whether it was participating in community clean-up efforts, organizing charity fundraisers, or volunteering at local shelters and food banks, I was committed to making a positive impact in my community. Through my involvement in these organizations and community service, I developed valuable leadership, communication, and organizational skills.       My name is Halaya Vann, and I am a recent Class of 2024 graduate from Renaissance High School. I plan to attend the illustrious Howard University in the fall as a Chemistry major. Though there is no doubt in my decision of attendance, I have an immense gap in financial aid which may carry a heavy burden while obtaining my degree. This scholarship can significantly alleviate my financial burden at Howard University by covering costs in tuition, therefore reducing my need for future student loans. This scholarship can enable me to focus on my studies without worrying about the financial strain, ensuring I can make the most of my educational experience at Howard. In my aspiration to further my education at Howard University, my career and life goals are deeply rooted in my desire to become a chemical engineer and make a positive impact on my community.
