Hakima Siyad is a graduate student pursuing her Master of Social Work at St. Cloud State University, with a career focus on trauma-informed care and child mental health. As a Somali refugee and first-generation college student, she is passionate about expanding equitable access to mental health services for underrepresented youth and families. Hakima currently works in the Emergency Department at Children’s Minnesota, providing crisis support and psychosocial assessments for children experiencing trauma. She hopes to become a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to culturally responsive care that empowers families and strengthens communities.
