Hello, my name is Hailey.
I have always had a passion for helping others. I am currently obtaining my Associates of Applied Science and majoring in Radiation Therapy. Here, I feel I can demonstrate my skill sets. Not only will I have the knowledge needed to perform my job, I will have the empathy. I have a desire to make a difference in others lives. Since a little girl, I have strived to be a "light". I have always been the person who can understand others and consider them first. I believe that being an empathetic person in the medical field is critical, both for the patient and the provider. I feel that I have what it takes to be what the medical field needs, and truly make a difference.
"Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek" - Dalai Lama
"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," - Matthew 5:44
I believe in standing up for what is right, morally and ethically, even when it is hard and the odds are against you.
These scholarships would mean the world to me. I am a single mother of an amazing 7 year old, and times are tough. I work full time, go to school in-person and online part time. Not only am I currently on the path to obtain my Associates in Applied Science, majoring in Radiation Therapy, I am also working on getting my Associates of Art. Once these are obtained, I will begin my Bachelors of Science degree.

Bold Perseverance Scholarship
I became a mother at the age of 18. I first found out I was expecting, a few months before I was to graduate high school. It was a very hard time in my life, not only I was I trying to graduate high school, I had to prepare to become a mother. The difficulties did not end there, I was in an abusive relationship that led to domestic violence. It felt like things would never get better. I lost many friends, and was looked at in a very negative light by most of my family. No one thought I would graduate, no one thought i could be a good mother. I was reminded often how disappointing I was. I felt very alone, depressed, and at times I wished it would all be over.
However, my son saved my life. Looking at his face, brought me such joy and determination. I knew that he was a gift from God. The struggles were still there, and they always will be. But being a mother and having my son changed everything.
I graduated high school on time, I got out of an awful relationship, got a great job, and I am in college obtaining not one, but two degrees. I have grown so much as a person. I have such a different perspective on life. I think that though these times were all but easy, it helped shape me into the person that I am today.
Bold Know Yourself Scholarship
I think that I am a great listener, with a big heart. I have a passion for helping others, even if it just means listening to them.
I am a very realistic person, and I am able to take my self out of a situation and see things from others point of views. I listen to others well, and enjoy being someone that others come to with things. I like being a good support system, who truly has the ability to be empathetic and sympathetic with a person and truly listen to them. I really love helping others, it makes me happy, but I do not do things for others with any expectations in returns. I feel that is my calling and is something I am on the earth to do.
Bold Listening Scholarship
I have a true passion for helping others, and I think in order to help others, you have to listen.
By help others, I do not only mean in a medical setting. I have a calling to simple make a difference in others lives, whether that does mean the medical field, or just being a shoulder to lean on in times of trouble. However, it starts by being a good listener.
Everyone has a story, and how can you truly help someone, if you do not know theirs? A story can tell so much about a person. It can be the gateway into who they truly are and why. Everyone has struggles and difficulties, and sometimes, they can take a toll on a person, resulting in anger, frustration, sadness, etc. Sometimes, a person just truly wants to be heard. However, until they are heard, they will not be understood. Taking the time to listen to someone, will allow you to truly hear them.
Bold Legacy Scholarship
I truly want to be remembered as the girl who stood out, by being self-less and caring.
I have a passion for helping others in various ways. I think if I could do anything in the world, it would be simply making others happy. I do not wish to be known for things like sports or looks, I want people to remember me for who I truly was. I want to spend my time, being that person who someone can lean on, even if they do not know me. I want to be the person who stands out, because of my kind heart. I want to make my patients lives, a little bit easier, by being different. I want to make others hearts smile.
Bold Gratitude Scholarship
No matter who you are, tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Everything you have. everything to know, can be gone in a blink of an eye. People spend a lot of time wanting and wishing for the "next-thing". However, it is important to learn to appreciate what is here for today.
Life is short, and I saw that in August 2020 when my best friend was murdered. One day, he was here, the next he was not. There was no warning, no last good-byes, no nothing. This was a reminder to me, to stop and appreciate what is still here, whether it is materialistic things, my health, my job, or my loves ones. Nothing promises to be here forever.
Bold Fuel Your Life Scholarship
When I take a moment to reflect on my life and what keeps me going, I think of my son.
I became pregnant at 17 years old. It was a very difficult time in my life. I was in my senior year of high school, I was in an abusive relationship that led to domestic violence, I was very depressed and anxious, I felt alone, and often times I spent time just wishing everything would be over. However, my son saved my life.
The day that I first saw my son changed everything. I was overwhelmed with feelings I had never experienced before. The amount of love I felt, was indescribable. There was no doubt, that little little tiny baby, saved me.
There will always be struggles, and days where I may want to give up, however, I never will. My son is my motivation to wake up everyday, to go to work, to go to school, to be here. He truly gives me purpose.
Patrick Stanley Memorial Scholarship
In high school, I had big plans after graduation. I wanted to start school right away, and enter into a heath career, however, God had different plans for me.
I found out I was expecting my first child in January of my senior year. It was a very stressful time, I was trying to finish high school, while the rest of my life was changing drastically. I managed to pull through high school and graduate on time, a year early in fact, but things did not get any easier. I had hoped to have a happy family, but I ended up in a abusive relationship before becoming a single mother at 18. I went from being a excited teenager, ready to get my life started, to one that was depressed and felt very alone. If I did not have my mom there for support, I do not know where my life would be now.
Though it took longer than others, I got my life together, got out of an abusive relationship, got a good job, and enrolled in college in 2017, 3 years after graduating. I am still on the path to achieving my dreams, even if it takes me longer than others. I am determined to pursue these dreams, not only for myself, but now for my son. He gives me the motivation I need to wake up in the mornings. I refuse to give up for him.
Bold Optimist Scholarship
I have managed to stay optimistic during hard times by learning to focus on the small simple things. Though we are all facing hardships, I believe it is still possible to find the positive while living in the negative.
I am blessed in many aspects of my life, the ability to go to school, the home I live in, the career I have, my health, my friends and family, and the list goes far beyond that. When I am facing struggles, I re-direct my focus onto something positive, that gives me joy.
My faith in God has also allowed me to remain positive, despite my circumstances. I can take comfort in that fact that I know my God is a faithful God, who promised to never leave or forsake me. I know that even in tough times, that he remains the same.
Robert F. Lawson Fund for Careers that Care
Hello, my name is Hailey. I have strong desire to help others, and this is why I chose to pursue a career in the medical field. I think that I have a personality that the medical field needs. I genuinely enjoy helping others, and I aim to make a positive impact on their life. I am both an empathetic and sympathetic person, which I feel is lacking in the medical field in todays time. I have a passion for being the provider that my patients feel comfortable with, heard, understood, and etc. This scholarship would help me achieve my goals and make a difference.
Lillian's & Ruby's Way Scholarship
Hello, my name is Hailey and I have a passion for helping others. I chose a career in the medical field, because I feel it is in dire need of professionals who not only have the knowledge needed to perform their jobs, but the empathy. I believe that almost everyone ha, or know someone who has had a negative experience in healthcare. I want to be the difference. I am choosing to major in radiation Therapy, where I can truly apply my passion to patients who are probably experiencing one of the hardest times in their lives. Being able to not only provide them with excellent levels of care, but making an impact on their day is my goal. Everywhere I go in my life, I try to remember, you never truly know what someone may be going through, but your interaction with them can make a difference.
Bold Simple Pleasures Scholarship
Enjoying the simple things are important, and often times taken for granted. After losing one of my bestfriends in August of the year 2020, the fact that life is short, became very apparent to me.
So many of us spend our daily lives chasing the "next thing", with the mind set of, "when I get (insert thing here), then I will be happy.". For example, when I get the new Iphone, the new car, when I make this much money, when I look like this,... and the list goes on. The truth is, this mindset will leave you feeling just out of reach of happiness, while overlooking so many things in life to be happy about.
Find what is truly important to you. The ability to wake up, to have your loved ones, to have food on your table, your health, these are all things in which you can find appreciation and happiness. Looking into my sons eyes, and knowing that he is still here, is something that gives me such joy. Life is short, and tomorrow is not promised to everyone. We do not know when our timer is up. Spend your days appreciating the small things. Decide to be happy today.
