My parents are divorced now, and I don't have time to work on math problems for fun. Life got busy. The other reason why math is important is because it allows for lively discussions in the classroom with peers. I think my favorite class for the school year was my Honors Algebra 2 class. My classmates would all struggle with the same problems and complain about them together. We all worked together on questions when things got hard. We even made an online group chat to help each other with homework. This all created a deeper bond between me and my classmates and also work on challenges collectively. I think this is an important skill that math brings. In my elementary days, I was above my class math level. As of now, I am struggling to maintain a good grade in my math classes. I am now, not the best at math anymore and not the top of my class. This does not stop me from loving math. My favorite artist has got to be WLOP. This artist is known for their practices on focus and visual hierarchy. They are the first artist I saw on YouTube doing a speedpaint and it piqued my interest in digital art. Though it was around 10 years since I first saw their work, I still today find their work spectacular. Their work is truly genius at first glance, but when you take a closer look you realize how they make something so complicated look simple. WLOP uses manipulation in their art. After studying more on his art, I've seen all his illustrations consist of strong value. He creates his pieces with an idea of what he wants his viewer to look at first. This is so inspiring to me because though it doesn't seem that complicated, you soon realize how much thought and time is probably put into these ideas. The reason why I was so captivated by WLOP's work is because that is exactly what he intended. He captures your attention and engages you the moment you lay your eyes on his work. A little like love at first sight. I hope in the future to explore different techniques to learn how to grab anyone's attention with my work like how WLOP had to me. I want to create a safer future for our community and share the dangerous aftermaths it can cause. A DUI incident involving my uncle affected both his health and our family. Seeing someone you love go through the consequences of a DUI includes many painful memories. My close uncle sustained a bad injury to his leg, along with some memory loss. Witnessing my uncle forgetting my name and who I was was just heartbreaking. I became aware of how serious the consequences of DUI were. My uncle faced the consequences of both physical and mental problems, but also of how his family members had to face the hard truth of this incident. The pain of having to face my uncle left a lasting impact on my life. This experience changed my perspective on responsibility and how to make smart decisions as it can create a ripple effect. DUI can hurt an individuals whole life and it is best to avoid being under the influence at all cost. This accident sparked my fuse of wanting to create more awareness about DUI and how to prevent these accidents. More programs that provide reliable information to make you aware of the effects of alcoholism and drunk driving would be most effective. Education about DUI can bring more communities together for a common goal while also having people to keep you accountable. Organizing awareness campaigns, media posts, and community events, will encourage community members to actively engage in preventing DUI incidents and create a big impact on the community. Internet platforms provide a space for sharing personal stories, creating social media posts, and awareness advertisements about the dangers of drunk driving. By sharing my personal experience, I hope to raise more awareness about the consequences of DUI incidents and promote others to make wise decisions in the future. It exposed me to the work of a graphic designer and how the workflow of being in a company would be. This allowed me to determine my future career and helped me understand how much I truly love art.

The dream version of myself is someone who will always love, provide, and support their family no matter where they are at in life.

Math reminds me of my youth. Math has a special place in my heart. Math was the subject my parents would make me focus on the most. When I was younger, the parent that was better in math was always my father. He would teach me multiplication when we were still learning how to add in school. I still remember when we would sit at the dinner table and work on math problems. Small moments like these are core to my youth. My parents are divorced now, and I don't have time to work on math problems for fun. Life got busy. In my elementary days, I was above my class math level. As of now, I am struggling to maintain a good grade in my math classes. I am now, not the best at math anymore and definetely not the top of my class. This does not stop me from loving math. I do not have to be the best or understand what I am learning to love math. Math is just something that has so much to offer whether it be emotionally, financially, or just hot vital it is in our world. Math can be very frustrating at times and I find myself feeling disheartened of my abilities sometimes. But on the bright side, solving a difficult math problem gives a huge sense of satisfaction, and provides the feeling of doing something right. This gives me some sort of reassurance in my life. That I'm doing okay and that the future is bright because I have some sort of idea of what I'm doing. That is what always brings me back to math. It brings me back to bittersweet, but joyful times.

Art is my calling. I have always been interested in art my whole life, but digital art was something that I fell in love with. I have grown to enjoy graphic design and creating something unique. I started doing digital art when I was 10 and I have grown so much in my technique and skills that I have even started an Etsy business, a YouTube channel, a WEBTOON comic, and an Instagram page dedicated to my art. Digital art is a passion of mine and I enjoy every project I work on. For the past 3 years, I have been taking graphic design classes at school and I am now in AP Studio Art. I have won the last two contests for creating a design for our school play and creating a logo. The art piece that is most special to me is my art piece, "She Kills Monsters" theater poster. It is so special to me because the creative process is something I am proud of. I included parts of the story in the design. I was lucky enough to know the concept of the theater play, "Dungeon and Dragons" as I love to play it with my family. This allowed me to expand my design even more with my knowledge and create a unique and beautifully crafted poster design. The project presented me with a unique challenge that required me to think outside of the box. It was incredibly rewarding to see my project also get the recognition it deserved. This poster was a competition against other high school students and I am proud to say, I won. This piece of art also has a special place in my heart because it allowed me to win silver in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. My art has led me to experience so much exposure to the art world. I was given the chance this year to be an intern for the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. I was assigned a company to work with and create a product design. It exposed me to the work of a graphic designer and how the workflow of being in a company would be. This allowed me to determine my future career and helped me understand how much I truly love art. After completing my degree in graphic design, I hope to work as a professional graphic designer. Maybe not exactly a graphic designer, but anything art related and financially stable would make me happy. My wish is to be able to provide for my family and be there for my single mother and autistic younger brother. I hope to explore different design fields, such as motion graphics, web design, product design, and animation. I always want to continue to challenge myself and improve my work as a designer. I want to be able to impact my audience with my art and I am confident in my abilities for the future.

“We’re all useless alone. It’s a good thing you’re not alone.” Immediately when I think about the movie that has had the greatest impact on my life, I think, "Everything Everywhere All At Once." As an Asian American, I constantly feel a void of never being enough. I grew to become bitter about my parents and their divorce. This caused me to become a very cold person and push away the many people I cared for. My heart was hardened and it came to a point where I couldn't even understand what love was. I continued to struggle in my relationships, but as time passed. I learned how to love. The heart of the movie is the care and love the characters have for each other. That is why this film truly hits so close to home. The movie, "Everything Everywhere All At Once," is not just about a mother fighting her way through different multiverses, but it is about her relationships with her family members. My favorite character, Waymond, showed me the power of love and how important it is in this day and age. He constantly showed throughout the film how love can truly fix anything. This character is so beautifully written because Waymond fights against a cruel world and chooses to fight with kindness. He sees the good in others and fights through the world's hate with his empathy in return. The main protagonist, Evelyn, finds that the way to restore a purpose in life is to create it from sacrificial relationships with the people around her. I think many people tend to not understand the idea of what being alive means, but I think this film perfectly encapsulates those philosophical thoughts. We are alive and called to be present with each other and to love each other. That is what this film's most important theme to me is. The most impactful aspect of the film for me was the way it highlighted the importance of family and community. In the Asian American community, family is everything, and this film beautifully captured that. The Wang family goes through conflicts of understanding each other throughout the film, but in the end, learn that unconditional love will solve it all. This kind of love is not a passive affection or a feeling to do good, but it is unconditional. It is a love that goes on forever no matter what. This film made me get up and appreciate my family for the things they provided for me. This film made me go and treat everyone with kindness. Stranger or family, I pushed myself to show love to everyone. The gossip girls at school I despised, I showed them love and threw away any feeling of distaste I had toward them. The friends that betrayed me. I forgave them and moved on. My father lost his family because of some bad decisions. I still love him and couldn't ever find myself stop loving him. "Everything Everywhere All At Once" left a lasting impression on me, reminding me of the unique challenges and opportunities that come with being an Asian American. It gave me a sense of pride in my heritage and inspired me to love all. Everything I do matters; my love, kindness, empathy, forgiveness, and care. Be kind and empathetic in a world that isn’t.
