Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
I plan to make a positive impact on the world by pursuing a career as an architect, a role that I believe can significantly influence not only the built environment but also the lives of those who work within it. My father, Patrick Stanton, has dedicated his career to working for A&M Drywall Inc., and I have seen firsthand the challenges faced by construction workers who strive to do their best in their jobs. My goal as an architect is to create designs that consider the needs of workers, ensuring that they can access safe and efficient work environments without unnecessary interference. I want to bridge the gap between construction and design so that those who build our communities feel respected and empowered in their roles.
Community service is also a cornerstone of my plan to make a difference. I am passionate about taking action to clean up public spaces, as I believe that a tidy environment contributes to the well-being of communities. Organizing clean-up events not only beautifies our surroundings but also brings people together, fostering a sense of pride and responsibility for our shared spaces. Additionally, I enjoy sending cards to nursing homes and hospitals, offering words of encouragement and support to those who may feel isolated or in need of a kind gesture. I believe that sometimes, simple acts of kindness can have a profound impact on someone's day.
Moreover, I am committed to supporting charitable foundations that focus on helping children reach their full potential, especially those facing significant obstacles in their lives. My own experiences growing up with dwarfism have profoundly shaped my perspective. My brother and I had to undergo numerous surgeries to correct our club foot, and I also faced challenges due to hydrocephalus. These medical journeys were tough, and I witnessed my father struggle as a single parent trying to care for three children while also managing the financial burden of our medical needs. It was a challenging time for our family, and it taught me about resilience, compassion, and the importance of support systems.
Because of these experiences, I am particularly motivated to help families like mine. I want to ensure that children in need have access to necessary medical care and educational opportunities. I plan to actively participate in fundraising initiatives and drive awareness for organizations that assist families facing similar challenges. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering time, or advocating for policies that support these causes, I am determined to be a voice for those who may not have one.
Ultimately, I aspire to create a lasting legacy of positivity and support in the world, whether through my professional work as an architect, my community service efforts, or my dedication to helping children and families in need. I believe that every action, no matter how small, can contribute to a brighter future, and I am ready to make my mark in any way I can.

Many important issues in our world require our attention. One issue that matters to me is the poor planning of buildings and infrastructure in our communities. This concern stems from witnessing the challenges that construction workers face, particularly my dad, who works at A&M Drywall Inc. I want to help workers like him. He spends all his time trying to build for the community to be better. When the architects give him trouble, his company loses time and money trying to fix the mistakes of the architects trying to stay as professional as possible. I want to change these problems by becoming a sufficient architect.
Inadequate building planning can lead to serious problems, such as safety risks and increased costs. I have seen my dad deal with many architectural issues that not only make his job harder but can also create dangers for others. This motivates me to seek solutions.
To address poor building planning, I plan to use my education and skills in architecture and urban planning. By studying architecture or civil engineering, I can learn about design principles and how to construct durable structures. I want to collaborate with local governments and communities to advocate for stronger building codes and better planning. My goal is to create designs that truly meet the needs of community members.
I am also interested in incorporating technology into construction. Tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM) and virtual reality can transform how we plan and build. By utilizing these technologies, I can enhance accuracy and improve communication among everyone involved in a project. This teamwork can help reduce the challenges that workers like my dad face on the job.
In addition to skills and technology, I believe it is essential to listen to the people affected by building plans. It’s crucial to hear from workers like my dad during the planning process. By including their feedback, I can help develop better solutions that work for everyone.
My goal is to ensure that construction projects are carried out carefully. I want to build safe and durable structures. By addressing local planning issues through education, technology, and community involvement, I hope to make a positive impact. I envision a future where workers, architects, and community members collaborate to create buildings that effectively serve their needs.
Through hard work and dedication, I aim to improve our construction approach. I want to support workers like my dad while enhancing the quality of life for everyone in our community.
