Hi, I'm Hailey!
I've always had a knack for changing the way people view a certain idea or topic. I've always been able to listen and understand other's position or current situation in the world and I've been able to encourage them and help them through whatever they are struggling with. This helps me strengthen my love for helping the community, making smiles appear, and being there for anyone who comes to me with problems. I'd like to accomplish a positive change in the world. I'd like to solve disputes, inform people about solutions to issues, and make everyone feel great about themselves by providing self-help facts and tips to make them smile every day. I'm interested in journalism and media.
I enjoy literature, learning about the medical field, and marketing. I'm interested in creating a non-profit organization that helps the community.
For my education, I'd like to get my Associates in Journalism and in Marketing, a Bachelors in Business and in Communication, and a Master's in Entrepreneurship and in English Literature.
I am an excellent candidate because I believe I can make an enormous impact on the community with the right tools and support. I am confident, encouraging, supportive, and kind. I'd like to excel in the world using these traits and sharing them with others. I would be so grateful and lucky for anyone's support in my future goals in making the world a better place using the higher education knowledge I'd gain with your support.

I have a special person who has gone above and beyond to not only provide for me, but to do the extras in life that someone in her position typically wouldn't do for a child that is not their own. I'd like to share her own struggles, and elaborate on the strength it takes each and every day to overcome her challenges, the strength it takes for her to accomplish her own goals and more. This person has raised me since I was three years old, stepping into my life and supporting me, encouraging me, and providing me every opportunity for success there is in life. I'd like to dedicate the next two paragraphs to my stepmom, who has done wonders in my life to make me successful.
My stepmom has some very challenging struggles that she must overcome throughout the day to function properly. I'm not going to mention all of them, but I will mention one that I believe takes her the most strength to overcome day in and day out. One of her greatest struggles is sleeping. She simply can't sleep - and this can be dangerous. She tries, each night, to sleep. Going to bed at a decent time, settling her mind before bed, not drinking or eating anything with caffeine or sugar after four PM - she does it all, every day, every evening. But, no matter her effort, she gets barely two hours of sleep. And she's been doing this for around thirty five years now. Every day, she has to drive my siblings to school, talk to people over the phone, continue conversations over text, cook, clean, do laundry, and raise three children - ALL of this, and she is exhausted at night AND during the day; yet she still can't sleep very well.
I believe that this resilience, this determination to get everything done and actually accomplish all the extra stuff she does throughout the day is incredible. I admire her for that - she has shown me strength and resilience, to push through tough times when it gets hard, and to put others before myself, the way she does for her family, her community, and her nation. She has inspired me to go above and beyond in everything I do, to never stop achieving my educational goals, and to be caring and supportive of everyone around me.
Without her, I would not be here, filling out this application, doing my best to earn the financial aid I need to reach those educational and professional goals. I've always had really powerful vocabulary, and I've always used it for good. I've always had a knack for being able to change someone's view - no matter how strong it was/is - so I decided to strengthen my gifts of persuasion in speech and debate. I really enjoy it and my stepmom gives me tips for it almost daily. Without her, I wouldn't have the confidence I carry with me today.

No, I was not in the foster care system. But if it wasn't for my dad's fight for me in court, I could have been. My biological parents divorced after marrying right out of high school. My bio-mom didn't want me, but my dad did. Problem was I have a sister my dad wanted to take care of as well. My dad's lawyer told him that if my bio-mom said he could just have one of us, to leave it at that because there was a high chance he wouldn't get either of us if he fought for my sister as well. To save me from the foster care system, he took full custody of me, and my life has never been the same since.
Anyways, let me introduce myself!
Hi, I am Hailey! I am a homeschooler, working ahead towards early graduation. I am sixteen years old, and I start my senior year this summer. I love homeschooling and there is only one reason for it: I have more time to help my community, spread positivity, and help those who seek guidance and/or assistance in their daily tasks, current goals, and future dreams. I find myself to be very dependable, open-minded, empowering, motivating, encouraging, supporting, compassionate, and resilient. My friends and family find me to be very determined, trustworthy, confident, supportive, spirit-lifting, dependent, humorous, and creative person. I believe in equality for all, rightful action, peace, perseverance, and commitment. With these traits, I would like to share them with the world, shining a positive light and a brilliant future for all in this world who want to see it and create peace, happiness, love, and kindness around the world.
For my career goals, I'd like to make an enormous difference in the world. Firstly, I'd like to be someone who helps kids who have illnesses. I want to find a cure for them and make them smile each and every day. I'd like to be that doctor, or scientist, who changes lives positively. I have great communication skills, amazing compromising strategies, and I'm good at listening and understanding anyone's point of view and helping them through whatever they are struggling with.
I want to be that doctor that changes the youth of today (whenever that day is) and makes them absolutely LOVE the doctor! I want to make "that" change in today's society. I want to show kids that they have support if something medically wrong happens. I want to heal broken bones and make little girls and boys with cancer smile every day. What type of doctor I want to be, I'm not sure yet. But I'm going to make kids smile, make them healthy, make them happy, and make them feel supported and comforted in the doctor's office. I believe that with starting with the younger minds, I can show people that anything is possible if you just put in the effort and be the best person you can be under the circumstances. After I am in the medical field for around ten or maybe twenty years, I'd like to retire from it to become a reporter or journalist. Someone who shares the true stories, with the true facts, and life-changing solutions. Someone who shares with the world different perspectives to think on. A leader in media who helped children become healthier and happier in her previous career.

I've always had an intense calling when I saw others in need of help. Whether it was that they were having a bad day or maybe they had just received a phone call with sudden, life-changing news. Whatever the case may be, I always am here to help. Anytime I see someone in need, I stop what I'm doing and rush over to help them. Maybe I help them with all the groceries that are falling out of their hands, or I sit down with someone and listen to what they have to say. I'm here for people, no matter what is going on in my life. The personality traits I have, like kindness, humbleness, positivity, empathy, and respect, I look for opportunities to strengthen them. I go and volunteer anytime I get the chance to. I spend hours giving advice, helping with long tasks, and helping the community. The recent actions I have taken are planning events for homeschooling teens so they can have excellent memories of their teenage hood, walking dogs for the neighbors, volunteering at a horse ranch, and changing how my teachers view the world by writing a school essay on perspectives
Overall, I'd like to make an enormous difference in the world. I'd like to be someone who helps kids who have illnesses. I want to find a cure for them and make them smile each and every day. I'd like to be that doctor who changes lives positively. I have great communication skills, amazing compromising strategies, and good in listening and understanding anyone's point of view and helping them through whatever they are struggling with. Whether it's a pediatric doctor or a emotional-help therapist, I'd like to be there for the youth of the modern world. I believe that with starting with the younger minds, I'll show people that anything is possible if you just put in the effort and become best person you can be under the circumstances.

Hi, I'm Hailey! I'm a homeschooler, completing virtual school and working ahead in my classes for early graduation. This summer, I'll be completing English 12 Semester A and Semester B, and Marine Biology Semester A and Semester B, all in just two months. This will make me have only six more classes to complete before I've officially graduated high school. Right now, I have an unweighted GPA of 3.7. I find myself to be very dependable, respecting, open-minded, helpful, kind, empowering, motivating, encouraging, resilient, and accountable person. My friends and family would describe me as a very reliable, honest, understanding, accepting, supportive, kind, and dutiful person.
With my connection to the military, I must mention two topics. The first topic would be my dad, who has shined brighter than a star in his workforce. The second topic I will discuss will be about a certain program in a certain school that shaped how I viewed the military and what it means to represent America. If you'd like to read more, I encourage you to continue reading!
Firstly, my dad has been achieving his goals in his dreamed-of career field since High School. Ever since he was little, my dad would always be educating himself on planes, jets, engines, the forces that make planes fly. My dad always loved the cool Air Shows hosted each year at the Base in Las Vegas, Nevada when he was younger. As my dad grew up, he joined JROTC and then ROTC while in high school. He promoted quickly, finding his love and passion for becoming a pilot in the military. My dad knew that there was only one percent of pilots in the Air Force, and he set out to be a part of that one percent. My dad went from high school straight to basic training, promoted faster than anyone else, learned his true character, his true core values, and became a pilot for the Air Force.
My dad taught me that anything is possible if you just put in the effort and never stop reaching for your goals - even when you have reached them, you still can't stop. My dad taught me resilience, perseverance, respect, accountability, and integrity from being the person the military shaped him to be.
The second topic I'd like to talk a little about is a program at a military academy I joined for the last two months of last semester. During my short time there, I learned what it means to be an American, the importance of serving my country, and how to accurately represent what America stands for. This program is called CAP (Civil Air Patrol) and has taught me how to take action, make quick, rightful decisions, the importance of self-discipline (meaning that if I don't reach my full potential each day, with every task at hand, I am not disciplined) and how to be honorable and trustworthy in any and every situation.
The military has had a great impact on my life. From learning key core values from my dad who learned these values from the military to moving from state to state and learning new ideas and experiences. Without the military, I wouldn't have all these great memories in so many places. Also, my dad is deployed right now, and that has it's many disadvantages but also benefits, all thanks to the military.

Some of the recent actions I have taken are planning events for homeschooling teens so they can have excellent memories of their teenage hood, walking dogs for the neighbors, volunteering at a horse ranch, and changing how my teachers view the world by writing a school essay on perspectives.
I have powerful vocabulary and strong confidence that I use to help others see the world in a brighter light, in a more positive perspective. I've gotten many letters from people, saying how grateful they are to have a different view of the world that makes them smile each and every day. Once the mindsets are changed, then I can help people change their unwanted behaviors. I believe that everyone can change, no matter their age, and once people grasp onto this fact, they feel better about themselves as they take action to change their path and themselves.
To be able to do this, I've had to sacrifice my personal socialization skills. You see, I've had to take high school online in order to start helping the world in the way that I want to. To takes a lot to commit to online school, leaving my best friends and amazing teachers to be able to show the world who I am and start on the the positive impact I'm going to make. With all this being said, I'd like to state my plan for making a positive impact on the world.
Here's my plan: become someone in the medical field that heals children, making them smile and view the world in a positive light, no matter their condition, and then become a media leader. I would like to start my journey with the little kids, to make them laugh and view the world positively. Then, I'd like to share with the world my view of the world. I want to give people tips and tricks for how to change not only themselves, but also their actions. I want to show people that a little difference in action makes a huge impact on all.
After that, I'd like to create a non-profit organization that helps the community, that volunteers to clean the side roads and the polluted lakes, that makes people smile and shares different perspectives of the world with others. A non-profit organization that has leaders, like me, who jump to any opportunity to make a positive impact on the world.
These are my goals, and I would very much enjoy and be very lucky and grateful for your support and encouragement so I can reach my goals and be that difference, that leader, the world needs!

Hi, I'm Hailey! I'm a homeschool/virtual student, working ahead towards early education. I've graduated my Junior year early and this summer I will be completing four whole semester's worth of my remaining required credits for my Senior year - this means two classes (part A and part B) accomplished in just two months. I have an outstanding unweighted GPA of 3.85 and I'm working on boosting my overall GPA of 3.59 to 3.83 this upcoming summer with the AP and Honors courses I will be taking. I find myself to be a very encouraging, trustworthy, independent, understanding, sincere, positive, helpful, and confident person. My friends and family find me to be very courageous, responsible, reliable, accepting, resilient, hard-working, determined, and humble. Each day, I strengthen my character traits, hoping to one day make the world a better place by my positive words, actions, ideas, and perseverance.
Although I am still undecided about my career path, I've always had a calling towards STEAM. The summer before sixth grade, I attended a "Before & After School Kids Club" program. Being the eldest of all the little ones, I wanted to create a club for the young ones myself. So, I set out to create fun, educational activities involving science and electronics, art and engineering practices. While putting together my plans, I included a little bit of calculations the little ones could do while conducting all the experiments, paintings, designs, and creations. I presented my plan to the head counselor at the kids club, and was given approval to instruct and demonstrate all the activities I had wrote on the planning sheets. Only thing was, I needed a name for my club. I already had the schedule of hosting the club twice a week after lunchtime, but I still needed a name. After multiple internal battles of what to choose as a name, I decided to call the club, "The Kids STEAM Group". The club was a blast, and it made me see the impact I could have with the various opportunities and positive outcomes of STEAM.
Inspired, I dove into research, trying to see where I could make the most difference in the field of STEAM. I learned many things about STEAM. I learned how engineering enhances problem-solving skills, the benefits of the evolution in technology, how the concepts in the science department opens doors for many people, and how the art department in STEAM Programs creates a wonderful opening in the mind for creativity and connects all aspects of STEAM together in the mind and through projects.

Hi, I'm Hailey! I am a virtual/homeschooler at Colorado Connections Academy. I've graduated the eleventh grade early, and this summer I will officially be in my Senior year. I'm working ahead for early graduation and working on concurrent enrollment through my online school system. I have an outstanding unweighted GPA of 3.85 for these past two semesters, and I'm continuing to boost my GPA by asking for Honors courses and AP classes for my last year of high school.
I find myself to be a very reliable, honest, humorful, dedicated, independent, helpful, understanding, and accepting person. My friends and family find me to be very resilient, honorable, trusting, kind-hearted, compassionate, hard-working, and encouraging of others in going for their life dreams/goals/objectives.
This scholarship will support my educational goals for a variety of reasons. For one, the most important reason, I have no financial aid from any family or friends. I have a very straight goal that says I will not be in student debt with the career I'm pursuing, so student loans are out of the question for me. I'm relying on every scholarship I'm eligible for, and I've completed over a hundred scholarship essays in the past two weeks. I'm determined to get the financial aid I need to succeed in my educational goals.
Speaking of educational goals, I'd like to earn myself two Associates, two Bachelors, and two Master degrees. I'd love to travel the world, write, public speak, and give back to not only my own community, but also communities which are in need of support, positivity, and happiness. I'd also like to start my own small business while becoming a Journalist and globally speaking about positivity, how we can reach world-wide peace, the actions we can take each day to succeed in helping each other out, and acting myself in helping to provide the resources the world needs to achieve peace.
In conclusion, I would love your support and encouragement in providing me the tools I need to succeed in my various costly goals. I want to make a positive impact in this world, and if MLK Jr, could make a whole continent peaceful, why can't I make all who will listen and act to make global peace a reality?

Hi, I'm Hailey! We all have our strengths and weaknesses, our personal goals and challenges in life, our internal battles, and our personal accomplishments - basically the traits/ideas/moments that make you who you are and might cause you to self-reflect about what traits you can strengthen and what goals/differences you want to make in the world. I want to share a little about myself with you do because I share qualities of hard work, talent, and determination to expand my knowledge further as I look for ways to help myself gain a higher education and help not only my community, but also all who need it.
I would willingly work for free - and I have done so many times in the past - and help my community, expecting nothing in return. Even when I am in my dreamed-of-career, making that difference, being that leader the world needs, I would do it for free, and just might do it for free whenever I get to that point in my life. In this essay, I will mention my challenges in applying for higher education opportunities, my points of success, my career objectives/goals, the difference I WILL make in the world using my career (and my plans for when I retire) and the difference I'd like to see in myself as I accomplish these goals and make positive differences in the world. To be honest, I've always had a hard time with education. I've always loved learning new concepts, participating in the classroom discussions/activities, and growing my knowledge. It has just been harder for me than the typical person. There is one reason for this - I can't focus on one thing for very long due to my high levels of ADHD. I tend to get off topic, find other small tasks to do, and I have a harder time understanding the concepts presented to me. The good thing about ADHD is that when I can focus, I tend to go into hyper focus, overthinking the topic and wanting to go into more research with it - wanting to do more than the assigned task in front of me. This leads to spending hours researching and expanding my knowledge on a topic, which is how I have strengthened my love for learning and my memory of retaining certain facts.
When applying for a higher education, I have faced many challenges. For one, financially, I can't pay for it, so I have to rely on hard-earned scholarships and other awards to pay for even an opportunity for a higher education, for even an application for college. I've gone into research about other paths I can take that might be cheaper, but I wouldn't reach my career goals as quick as I'd like to. Trade school is one of my options. But it's still twenty-plus thousand dollars even after scholarships to attend a trade school and learn those skills. Although it would be cheaper to go that route, I've always been college bound, and I'm determined to leap over this financially difficult milestone in order to reach my career objectives and future goals.
While I have many challenges I must overcome to accomplish a higher education, I also have excelled in many points of searching for ways over-slash-through these financial obstacles. Firstly, I have had great self-reflection, thinking about who I am, what I want to do, the difference I want to make, where I am now, and what I can do in the immediate present to get to where I want to be in the future. Not only that, I've reflected on my strengths and weaknesses, and how I can maximize my strengths every day. Secondly, I've learned more about myself and what I can do to give back to the community, to become the person that I would like to be. Through this, I've found my career path, a path less taken, that I can succeed in. Thirdly, I've entered many scholarship contests, and even though I was not chosen as a winner, it taught me to never give up, to keep going until I get that/those scholarship(s) that will support and encourage me and my goals in life. For my field of study, I'd like to pursue two careers at separate times in my life.
I'd like to start making that positive difference in the world by working in the medical field, helping to cure or heal kids. I've always had a calling for helping children, and they have always loved me! So I figured that I would start by excelling by being a pediatrician, making every kid who comes my way smile with happiness and healthiness. I want to be there for children who was struggling with cancer or have an illness that is poorly affecting them. I want to be the reason they smile. After twenty or so years in the medical field, I'd like to achieve the career path of a journalist. I love sharing my personal stories, sharing my positive, spirit-lifting views of the world, and changing unwelcome view points. I want to share positivity and happiness with the world, and what better way to do that than become a journalist? I figured I could be known as "The amazing doctor who retired after remarkable work in the office to achieve her other calling of changing the world!" It's an interesting idea, and I'm going to make it my reality. I will be that leader who makes a remarkable difference in the world, who makes people's faces light up in happiness, and who never stops radiating positivity every moment of every day and night.
For myself, I plan on accomplishing a lot of goals which involve helping the community, learning new languages, and traveling the world to experience new cultures. By helping the community, I'd like to start by volunteering three times a week, donating at every chance I find, and creating a community garden. I'd like to have a garden of flowers for butterflies, lady bugs, and hummingbirds. There will also be multiple squirrel feeders for squirrels and bird feeders for small birds. I'll do this so that people have pretty flowers to look at, pretty insects and birds to watch, and have a place to sit and relax as well. Life can get stressful, and I feel like a place of nature is the best way to feel relaxed.
While doing that, I'd enjoy learning Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese, and Japanese. Once I'm fluent in those languages, I'd like to travel to ten small countries, learn their cultures, and experience their way of life. I'd like to visit each country for three months each. Then, I'd like to live in five larger countries (Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Ireland and Canada) spending two-to-four years in each country before I travel back to the United States of America.
I am willing to put aside a future partner/family, a normal relaxing life, and my own free time for this. These are my dreams, goals, and plans for the future. I would be so honored and immensely thankful for your support in helping me achieve my goals!

I go out and volunteer any time I get the chance to. I spend hours giving advice, helping with long tasks, and helping the community.
Some of the recent actions I have taken are planning events for homeschooling teens so they can have excellent memories of their teenage hood, walking dogs for the neighbors, volunteering at a horse ranch, and changing how my teachers view the world by writing a school essay on perspectives. I have powerful vocabulary and strong confidence I use to help others see society in a brighter light, a more positive perspective. With all this being said, I'd like to state my plan for making a positive impact on the world.
Here's my plan: be in the medical field that heals children, making them smile and view the world in a positive light, no matter their condition, and then become a media leader. I'd like to start my journey with kids, to make them laugh and view the world positively I'd like to share with the world my view of the world. I'll to give people tips and tricks for how to change not only themselves, but also their actions. I want to show people that a little difference in action makes a huge impact on all.
After, I'd like to create a non-profit organization that helps the community, that volunteers to clean the side roads and the polluted lakes, that makes smiles and shares different perspectives of the world with others. A non-profit organization that has leaders who jump to any opportunity to make a positive impact on the world. These are my goals, and I would very much enjoy and be very lucky and grateful for your support and encouragement so I can reach my goals and be that difference, that leader, the world needs!

We all have our struggles in life. We all have our strengths, as well. Somehow, we all learn how to persevere and keep reaching our goals in life. Whether it's our educational, professional, social, or personal goals, we all have battles inside ourselves that are temporary roadblocks we must find a way around, through, over, or under.
My battles revolve around the challenges that come with high levels of ADHD. As a female with ADHD, nobody truly knows the impact ADHD causes inside me. It takes an extreme amount of effort to keep my mind in one place, at one time. It's difficult to focus on a subject that doesn't inspire my interest, and this leads to problems when I preform academically. But difficult doesn't mean impossible, and each day I strive to focus my mind on my daily schoolwork, chores, and tasks to get everything done to my best capability. When it comes to my academic performance, my ADHD impacts me significantly.
There are good sides and bad sides to the ADHD when it comes to my educational practices. I either struggle to read the words, understand the meaning of what I am reading, focus on the topic at hand, and not overthink into other related topics of the subject, OR I am able to hyper-focus on the readings, the researches, the practices, and the quizzes or tests. I do my best to engage myself in my schoolwork, making the lessons exciting and interesting with different techniques so I am able to get a hundred percent on most assignments. No matter how hard it is to focus that day, I always do my best to not let distractions stop me from reaching my educational goals.
Relating to my personal life, I tend to forget parts of daily or weekly tasks often, and this leads to problems with my family since they rely on me so much. I do whatever I can to not upset my family due to forgetting small steps of tasks they need done by creating lists, setting named timers and detailed alarms, and checking each item on the lists before I move onto the next step. Each day I get better at it, and each day I avoid conflicts with my family by consistently checking my lists and work. It's sort of repetitive and sometimes I just don't want to do it, but if it helps my family not be so irritated, then it is worth it.
Not only do I take the steps in the paragraph above to remember things easier, I have also taken a very sacrificing leap so that I can focus on school without so many distractions. I decided, along with my parents, that the best way to develop great organization and planning habits, stay on a tight schedule, and prepare myself for success in education would be to start homeschooling for high school. I sacrificed my social life, left my friends and brilliant teachers, and sacrificed my own personal goals regarding clubs and activities so that I could focus on my academics and succeed. Within my first year of high school, I got straight A's while completing virtual school. I did this to help myself control my ADHD, even though it was hard, and I will never regret it.
For years, I have struggled with controlling my emotions, acting the age I am, and gaining the help I needed to overcome such intense emotions. For years, I missed out on a lot of opportunities, but I just couldn't seem to leap above the intense anger or sudden sadness that would change my moods throughout the day. I didn't know how and my parents didn't know how to help me either. We went to every mental health specialist, every phycologist, every therapist, and every doctor in town. No one could figure out how to help me. They gave me tools they gave everyone else; breathing deeply, counting, tapping my foot - but nothing worked. It wasn't until I was fifteen, turning sixteen, that we finally found the therapists that had an accurate diagnosis. I had an emotional delay of four years - and this explained EVERYTHING! When I found the therapist's assumption and evidence to be correct, it opened my eyes and I could finally see where I could improve, I just didn't know how to do it. So I went into research about it, asking friends and family how a normal fifteen year old acts when certain situations occur. I realized that every reaction I had was dramatic and over-the-top - and I didn't even know it. I couldn't realize I was yelling when I got angry and was trying to explain my point of view to be understood. I didn't realize I was SO extreme in my reactions. It made me take a step back and think, "Who is the person that I want to be? Extreme and unable to communicate correctly or calm, listening, and mature?" So I decided that I would listen to my tone more often, I would think about what I wanted to say and how I wanted to be understood, and that helped to shape me into a more calm, understanding person.

Hi, I am Hailey! I am a homeschooler, working ahead towards early graduation. I am sixteen years old, and I start my senior year this summer. I love homeschooling and there is only one reason for it – I have more time to help my community, spread positivity, and help those who seek guidance and/or assistance in their daily tasks, current goals, and future dreams.
I’d like to become a journalist, reporter, and photographer before I go into the fields of business and entrepreneurship so that I can gain experiences in applying what I’ve learned hands-on, working with different people in a variety of settings, travel around the world to uncover new stories, and get more experience by working on challenging and exciting projects. I believe that with the knowledge and experience gained by working in these three ‘beginning’ career fields, I will be more successful when it comes to creating, opening, managing, and maintaining a small business and non-profit organization. When it comes to entrepreneurship, the skills I’ve learned while journaling, reporting, and photographing will come in handy by helping me to reflect on my entrepreneurial journey. I believe that with the extra experience in new places, with new people and new stories, I can better handle a small business and succeed in entrepreneurship.
Here's what I need to show the whole entire world: we have absolutely no reason to have ten billion dollars and not share it with others; we have absolutely no reason to fight with one another when we can talk and communicate effectively, actually getting something done in a peaceful manner. Do you see my point? By this point in our Human Evolution, we have every right, every path, every way created to become a helpful, peaceful society. That's what people don't realize, and simply because of stressful life tasks that no one can get away from - like bills, taxes, chores, fake news, etc.. I want to show people that anyone can do anything, if they put in the effort, and be the best person they can be. I want people to realize the impact, the effect, that their words and actions have - the effect they might not know they have on others. I want them to realize that even a small smile to everyone they see throughout the day can make their self-esteem grow, which then makes a chain of positive interactions, which then leads to positive actions and helpful reactions. I believe that with this scholarship, I can reach my many goals in making the world a better place, one step at a time. I'm very supportive of my community, nation, and the world in general, and I'd like to share my traits and experiences, as well.

I'd like to learn five new languages so that I can travel to the countries I’ve always wanted to see and learn the cultures of. I’d like to use my higher education to share with the world my positive viewpoints, offer solutions to everyday issues, and become that person who makes the difference in everyone’s lives using kind phrases, helpful suggestions, clear guidance, life-changing advice, and my own eye-opening, real-life stories and experiences that made me who I am today, and can make everyone the person that they want to be each and every day. I’ve always been very creative when it comes to literature, reading, writing, analyzing, summarizing, and paraphrasing. I’ve always been able to change the mindsets of my teachers on a certain topic or even make them take a step back and think on their life. I’ve always written relatable poems and shared motivational spirit through my speeches, essays, and even my thoughts when I speak my ideas aloud. Why not take my words of positive power and share them with all who care to read/listen to them?
I hope to bring positivity and encouragement to people who want/need the empowerment, who want/need encouragement to fight for what is their right as a living creature on our planet. I want to make that difference using my peaceful words, my strong but open-minded viewpoints, and my gained wisdom to support human empowerment. I want to be that person giving speeches supporting human empowerment and the world-wide right to be heard, understood, and make the change in the world that they would like to make. I would love your support and encouragement in my journey of making the world a better, peaceful place.

Hi, I'm Hailey! I'm going into my senior year this summer, completing virtual school to help with my struggle of focus. I'm on the pathway to early high school graduation, and I've been able to excel greatly in finding my dream career based on my interests and strengths. This scholarship would do wonderous things for me. I don't have any financial support from friends or family, my mental struggles keep me from working, and with that being said, I'm relying on scholarships to pay for the higher education that would benefit me. I'd be so very grateful and appreciative for your support in helping me achieve my career goals. Below is my struggles and how my mental health has shaped what I want to do as I reach the steps into these next stages of my life - higher education!
We all have our struggles in life. We all have our strengths, as well. Some of us have to work hard to push through the struggle to achieve certain strengths. For me, I have to push through intense emotions, the inability to focus on one subject at one time, and abnormal forgetfulness. Although most people minimize the effects it has on me, I have such high levels of ADHD that I can not function without proper doses of medication to control the instability going on in my mind twelve hours a day, twelve hours a night. Nobody can see my struggles, and this is why I have been able to find a career that helps others realize the impact of hidden mental issues that some people have but can't explain.
I'd like to be a journalist, reporter, editor, small-business owner, entrepreneur, global influential, motivational, and empowering speaker. I'd like to start each one of these careers in the order I listed them. I believe that I will make an enormous difference if I start by writing, then move into reporting, next do editing, create my dream business, travel the world selling my products, and then start speaking about the difference I want to make in the world. I want to make this difference, and I've wanted to since the third grade, because the world needs to hear positivity, be motivated, feel empowered in a positive light. There is so much wrong in the world, and I'm going to make it right. I'm planning on earning two degrees at each level - two associates, two bachelors, and two masters - so that I can have knowledge and experience in each field I'm pursuing.
I know it sounds like a crazy idea, and it'll be a very grand challenge for me, but this IS my dream, my goal, and will become my reality with the right tools, support, and guidance. Will you be the one to help fund my high-cost educational goals? If so, I'd forever be grateful, honored and indebted to you.

An impact moment in my life was when I realized just how much someone who didn't have to do anything for me, gave me the whole world.
Community Health Ambassador Scholarship for Nursing Students
Although I am still undecided about my career, I know one thing for sure; I want a career where I help others each and every day, making smiles appear on everyone's face, and shine a positive light on all who see me. Shall I decide to be a Nurse - and it seems I might just go that path - my career goals would be to shine in the Nursing field by not only supporting and helping to heal people, but also raising money for children who are sick in the hospital so that more cures can be made faster and with more efficiency in healing those who are sick.
I want to comfort and care for all the kids who have such great potential but who are held back by their illness - and every kid has great potential. I want to make that difference in kids lives and make them smile each and every day, make them as happy as they can be in their situation. I want to become that pediatric Nurse that parents love their kids to see because seeing me would make them smile. If there is one change I can make in this world, it will be in the Nursing field, helping to heal and care for children who are injured, sick, or in discomfort, making long-lasting smiles appear with every patient who comes to me.
While raising money for kids with illnesses or anything that keeps them in a hospital bed, I'd like to volunteer at any place I can every other weekend, helping my community by donating canned food and clothes, feeding the elderly, creating a community garden for people to enjoy, and any other opportunity that comes my way. I'm also a very motivating and empowering speaker, and I believe that with my traits of compassion, kindness, equality for all, courage, and positivity, I can make a difference in people's lives by speaking my viewpoints, sharing my solutions to daily problems, lifting people up in a positive way, and shining the positive light this world needs to feel.
Even though my field of study is still undecided, I am still doing all of the things listed above for my community and for the kids in hospitals. I feel a draw towards being a Nurse, and I just might go for it and become a Nurse. I would be immensely grateful and forever indebted to you for your support in making my goals a reality.

My whole life, I’ve always helped everyone who has come into my life. I’ve always been that supportive friend, helpful daughter, and inspirational leader of my class/friend groups. I’ve learned my traits of kindness, resilience, perseverance, helpfulness, compassion, and equality to all by watching those around me. I’ve experienced many different interactions between people, but there was one significant interaction that has really had an impact on my heart.
It was an ordinary Saturday. I was out with my amazing stepmom, shopping for the food and items we’d need for the week. It was our weekly routine to shop around for meals every Saturday, and I didn’t expect anything new to happen. I was still excited to be out of the house, out of school, hanging out with the world’s best legal guardian. We were outside the large store, looking at the flowers which were on a seasonal sale when something I never expected to happen, happened.
It was maybe noon, with busy people walking, or even running, throughout the store. It was loud and slightly crowded by the entry/exit automatic doors. I saw a lady and an elderly man come out of the store, and they had a lot going on in their lives. They had four medium-sized dogs on large leashes, a toddler in the baby-seat of the shopping cart, and what seemed to be a girl around nine years old. The elderly man was holding two of the leashes, while carrying a bunch of grocery bags in the other hand, while trying to listen to the little girl. The two dogs the man was guiding saw the group of pigeons not too far away, and ran towards them, yanking the elderly man to the ground, spilling all the food and toys that were in the bags.
Before I could help, a store employee, who was greeting customers at the door, rushed over to the man while the very concerned lady got the dogs back and cleaned up the mess. I watched as the store employee, who didn’t even know the man, assisted the man gently to his feet, got him in a chair, called the doctor when he realized the man was injured badly on the knee, and calmed the elderly man with soft words, encouraging facial expressions, and genuine understanding and sympathy.
When the ambulance arrived, the employee decided to ride with the injured man, sacrificing the hours of money the employee could have gotten had he resumed his work and not been there to support the man.
This interaction showed me what it meant to be sympathetic, loyal, and compassionate to not only strangers in need, but also anyone who wants assistance. If a stranger can help another stranger in need, why can’t I help someone who doesn’t necessarily need the help but seeks the help out of a want and not a need. Witnessing this kind of support and guidance made me realize what power I, and everyone on this planet, have when it comes to making a positive difference in someone’s life.

Hi, I’m Hailey! Like many people, I have many goals in life that I am setting out to achieve. Some of these goals include learning and becoming fluent in five new languages, traveling to ten small countries – spending three months in each country – creating my own small business and non-profit organization, becoming a journalist, photographer, and reporter in the beginning of my career, and then becoming an influential, motivational, and empowering speaker, and world-class entrepreneur. I find myself to be a very open-minded, resilient, encouraging, kind, compassionate, accountable, reliable, and responsible person. My friends and family find me to be very determined, trustworthy, confident, supportive, spirit-lifting, dependent, humorous, and creative person.

I believe that with the extra experience in new places, with new people and new stories, I can better handle a small business and succeed in entrepreneurship. I’d be very lucky and grateful for your support and encouragement in my very near future goals.
When it comes to weaknesses, I’ve had many. But what all my weaknesses really revolves around is my emotional delay. I always had poor reactions to outcomes I didn’t desire when I was younger, and I didn’t react the way a typical six, seven, or even eight-year-old did when they got sad, irritated, or frustrated. No one could figure out what was going on with me. I went to all the therapists, emotional-health specialists, counselors, and doctors in the town of Las Vegas – nobody could help me. I was given techniques for how to handle my intense, sudden emotions, but it wasn’t enough. I was given tips, tactics, advice, suggestions – nothing I tried seem to work. Until I moved to CO, and we found the best therapist who used all the facts, evidence, and her own knowledge to conclude that I had an emotional delay of three to four years.
Ever since then, I have been able to think one thought that would help me to control my emotions. This thought is, “How would someone my age act in a situation like this?” Now, I have been able to conquer three years of my emotional set-back, and I continue to do my best to watch every reaction, every word, every action, and every emotion that sweeps through me. I’ve learned that everything is a product of one’s own reaction to an outcome, and this lesson will truly help me when business gets tough.

When it comes to the environment and all the challenges that we, as humans, have created for our world, I could write pages of pages of pages on multiple different subjects - because us humans have really impacted our world in a negative way, and, in my opinion, we must act now to change our impact into a positive one before it is too late. I could talk about plastic pollution, deforestation, air pollution, melting ice caps - I could talk about it all. But I'd like to mention what I believe to be the biggest challenge yet - global warming.
Global warming is when greenhouse gases travel up into the atmosphere, and trap the Sun heat coming into Earth. This then warms our world, which causes hotter temperatures, which then causes the ice caps to melt, which then causes the beaches to become a part of the ocean, which then causes severe storms. Deforestation is also a cause of global warming because when the severe storms hit land, it causes severe drought and damage to the deforested land. It's all tied to global warming, and the crazy temperatures, the intense hurricanes, the abnormally hot summers and freezing cold winters aren't going to get any better - but we don't have to make it worse. The atoms of the greenhouse gases are radiating their trapped particles into the Sun's heat, and then the Sun's heat continues to do the same to other particles of trapped heat - it's a never-ending cycle, and by continuing to use fossil fuels, emitting greenhouse gases, and using irresponsible energy sources, we will only continue to add to global warming, making more atoms of heat and more radiating particles in our atmosphere.
I have many ideas for how to stop global warming, and I plan to take action in each effective, well-though-out plan I have created. I've spent hours each day creating these plans, and I'd like to share them with you now.
Firstly, we need to find ways to continue producing energy and products that do not involve greenhouse gases, polluting chemicals, high-environmental-risk processes, and harmful farming practices. Next, we all need to act in walking or biking to work if possible, or using the bus if your work is too far away, we all need to reduce our carbon footprint, have days were we don't use any electricity in our homes (also known as "black out" days), eating more vegetables instead of meat and dairy, recycle every day, adjusting the thermostat lower in the summer and higher in the winter, and using less hot water. Changing light bulbs and connecting to an energy-saving electricity source will also help.
If we, as the Human Species, all take these small actions every day, we can make a large impact. But it's up to the individual whether or not they want to save their planet and stop global warming from increasing.

Before I announce this life-changing book that has not only greatly impacted my life, but also shaped my life goals, I'd like to explain the book in detail. But first, I'd like to say that this book, the message of it, has really opened my eyes to the world, and has given me inspiration to research how we, as a community, can better change the world. I'd like to start by comparing the book to the movie and vice versa.
When reading the book and then watching the movie, I must agree that the book is better than the movie. The book is better than the movie because it has way more detail to all the action that takes place, the book has more chapters that the movie does not include scenes of, and, personally I think that the character's personalities are shown better in the book than in the movie due to the ability to add more detail through descriptive words and/or dialogue. The movie includes some additional scenes that the book does not cover, and this helps to engage the viewer in the storyline. The movie also includes great characteristics brought to life, which the book vaguely describes in barely engaging detail. I enjoy both the movie and the book because the author's inspiring point is very clear in both types of presentation. Next, I'd like to explain a little about the main character of the book, and why she is so inspiring.
In the book, there is Earth, Humans, and the Aliens. Aliens came down to Earth, invaded Humans' minds without very much human notice, and made the world peaceful again. But there is one alien who sticks out from the rest. She has been to seven different planets, in seven different universes. She is a hero who has saved her own species, and she is the greatest known alien of her species. She is universally respected, honored, and admired. But, when she get's down to Earth and is implanted into the human's mind, she is encounters that it isn't any human they put her in - it's a Fighting Human, a Survivor of the first waves of invasion. The Alien struggles with the human's mind, trying to unlock secrets about the Remaining Human Race. This Alien is different from her kind, feeling bad that her species took the Human's world away from them. But she can't help but think how the Human's didn't deserve their world - ruining their ecosystems, destroying their lands for war amongst their own Race, starvation, violence. The Alien, while on search for her body's true love, gets captured by the Remaining Human Race. While in captivity in a cave in the mountains, she helps the Humans with their tasks. She learns to trust the Humans and the Humans learn to trust her through time. Her careful words and unique perspectives earn her a place beside the Humans. At the end of the story, the Humans find another group of Survivors - this group having another Alien that has betrayed their own Race for the benefit of another.
This book is called: The Host.
The main point the author wants to make is: Humans are violent creatures, yes, it's true. But what can we do to save our planet and become a Species of Global Peace? If Aliens can do it universally, why can't we? This book has shaped who I am, has given me my life goal: Create a community, a nation, a world of peace, prosperity for all, and happiness for all who want it. LET'S UNITE TOGETHER!
Scholarship Institute’s Annual Women’s Leadership Scholarship
Some people walk through the world thinking they are leaders just by being popular and being able to make quick decisions, thinking they have made a positive difference in someone’s life by just a small, encouraging talk about future goals or stressful situations. Other people follow these so-called leaders, thinking they have no choice but to listen to the person who seems wiser and more knowledgeable, even when these leaders don’t quite help them with their personal goals, dreams, desires, etc. I believe that to be a leader, you must demonstrate resilience, perseverance, empowerment, motivation, inspiration, helpfulness, rightful action, communication skills, and being there for anyone and everyone who comes your way.
The traits of leadership listed above I know are accurate for every leader because I’ve been one of those followers. I tried listening to people who gave me advice for how to reach my goals and failed because of it. While in these experiences, I learned that a true leader never gives up, volunteers at every opportunity, is open-minded, avocats for peace, happiness, and positivity in everyone’s lives, and is a great friend, mentor, sibling, or partner.
I have demonstrated leadership by the traits listed above since fourth grade, when I realized the world needed a positive light shined upon it. I have been volunteering since fifth grade every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at a place called horses4heroes, where I take a group of twenty little kids, teach them fun activities and crafts, and lead them through obstacle courses and encouraging challenges. Not only this, I also participate in a program called CAP, where I learn to lead and I eventually will lead a group of high school Cadets on missions to success in the summertime. I was also the head leader at my school for social events and counseling.
I have great communication skills. I am positive and open-minded. I am kind, determined, and respectful. I believe that with these skills, the years of volunteer experience, and the leadership tools I’ve learned, I can make a difference in this world. My goals are to learn five languages, become educated in public speaking, journalism, entrepreneurship, and communication, and travel to ten small countries, public speaking and making a positive impact in countries around the world to encourage, support, and take action to lead this world to peace, happiness, and success for all. I have a very empowering voice, I use very motivational words when speaking on a topic, and I am very influential with my tone and the way I word phrases or sayings. Once ten smaller countries have heard my points of view and they have seen what I can provide for them, I’m hoping to make a difference in their lives to lead them to success.
Global peace, happiness, success, and positivity IS achievable, and I’m going to make it happen. I know I am because if MLK Jr. could create the same peaceful environment on a whole continent, I can inspire just ten small countries to do the same using my leadership skills. I would be so grateful and indebted to you shall you support and encourage my life goals.
Johnny Douglas Conner Memorial Scholarship
Eco-Warrior Scholarship
In fifth grade, when I learned about greenhouse gases, global warming, non-renewable resources, renewable resources, and the negative impact us humans are creating on our own home, I was astonished at how many people lived their lives not thinking about the impact their actions have. Almost everyone doesn’t think about what is happening to our world, the cost of what they are doing, and the environment they are unintentionally ruining. When I combined all the statistics and put them straight in a line, I figured out ways I can not only live more sustainably, but also encourage and motivate others to join me. I started daily and weekly tasks, changed many daily tasks into more sustaining processes, and wrote letters to friends and family to encourage them to do the same.
My daily tasks are more like daily routines. When I wake up, I only have the lights on for thirty minutes, which is just enough time to get ready for the day and get breakfast. The lights stay off all day long, using the windows of the house for light source. I only use twenty minutes of electricity at night. I use vinegar and natural-made soap for cleaning the floors instead of using harsh chemicals. I tend to a garden that is made of eco-friendly plants that benefit insects, birds, and animals like squirrels, rabbits, and other small creatures. Not only do I complete these tasks, but I also do all the regular stuff like recycling paper, plastic, cardboard, and other recyclable items, I have changed out the lightbulbs for those energy-saving lights, I use energy saving electricity sources, I use no more water than I need, and completing high school online to save paper and other materials from waste. I also have a plan to walk to work instead of driving, once I’m employed.
My weekly tasks include going around the neighborhood and collecting bags of trash, using non-disposable or bio-degradable kitchen items, composing old food, not using any light sources besides the natural, outdoor light on weekends, and reusing as many materials, objects, and nonrenewable resources as possible.
Not only have I excelled in staying consistent with my plans, but I have also written letters to my friends and family asking for them to do the same. I have emailed my online school principal, my teachers, and my virtual school friends’ essays on our world, global warming, our individual carbon footprint and its effects, and tiny steps every person on this planet can take to improve the quality of our world. We only have ONE WORLD! The least we can do is take care of it the way we should be taking care of each other. We only have so much time before our impact becomes permanent, and with these essays, letters, and individual actions, I am hoping to get more and more people to take rightful action to reduce our carbon footprint so that global warming can slow down, so that the weather can become more natural to its cycles, and so that us, as humans, have a world that isn’t so hot or so cold that we can’t survive.
I would like to save our Earth, but I can only do that with the help and support of people who want to save it, too. I can act on my own, but it’s up to us, as humans, to fix what we have created before it gets out of our control.
A Man Helping Women Helping Women Scholarship
Empower Her Scholarship
While empowerment can have many definitions for individuals, I believe empowerment must include the same traits. Empowerment is shown in many forms as well, but all the forms of empowerment still share the same empowering characteristics. I believe that everyone should retain and show these traits to succeed in the workplace, at home, and with the family. Without these very core values, no positive difference would be made in the world. All world leaders, motivational/inspirational speakers, and people who have influence in the lives of other each day share these exact traits to accomplish their goals. What are these characteristics I believe everyone should have to make the world a better place? I’m glad you asked because below are the core values of empowerment and how they have affected not only my life, but also my character.
These traits are: Effective Communication, Encouraging Feedback, Respect and Equality, Perseverance, Effort, Flexibility, Open-Mindedness, Action, and Organization.
Every leader who has shined a positive light in this world and has made the difference they wanted to see in society has honed in on these characteristics to empower others to do what is right, to never give up, to have justice and equality in the world, to take action in what they believe in – the list goes on and on.
To me, empowerment is much more than the traits above. Yes, empowerment is only effective with the traits above, but empowerment is rightful actions, powerful voices, encouragement and support of others and their goals in life. Empowerment is when you, as a person, chooses to be effective in the world and empower others to do the same. Empowerment is when you empower your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, or even strangers to reach their goals, to never stop fighting for what is right, to encourage and support everyone who comes their way. Empowerment is making positive differences in the world by empowering yourself, empowering those around you, and empowering society to see a brilliant light that will lead to success and happiness, peace, and resilience, every day.
I’m a very empowering person. I’ve empowered other to achieve their personal, educational, and professional goals in life. I have motivated and influenced people to go beyond in every task at hand. I’ve received letters from teachers, thanking me for doing so much in their lives simply by authoring an essay. I have given people the courage, support, assistance, and motivation to keep going and to never stop until they are content, until every box they have is check off and completed with satisfaction. Below is a letter from my tenth grade English teacher.
“Dear Hailey,
You have really changed my world-perspective, and I would like to send this letter to you, thanking you for all you have done in my life. You authored a simple essay, yes, but your points, explanations, and arguments in the essay have made me take a step back and think about my own lifestyle, my own goals, my own dreams, and my own capabilities. Without you, I wouldn't have thought much of it. But, thanks to you, I have changed as a person. I have begun to help my community more, become more active in acting for what is right, and so much more. My character has changed – and if it were not for you, I wouldn’t have the mindset I have today. Thank you for your empowering words, motivated mindset, and inspirations. You are a star, so keep that powerful, positive, and impactful voice you have known to the world and keep on shining.
All the best,
Mrs. Warner”

This was the letter I received from my tenth grade English teacher. I’m a virtual schooler (also known as online homeschooling) and, as she mentioned in her letter of appreciation, I had authored a simple argumentative essay that changed her world forever. I did not realize the power and impact I had when I drafted these essays, and this teacher proved to me just how I can have influence with a few carefully chosen words, an empowering message, and a voice of motivation.
All my life, I have always had effective communication skills, leadership skills, and I have always known how to convince people of my point of view. What I didn’t realize, before this letter, was the difference I was making. My essays had always been great, always been complimented, and I was always highly recommended to others when they needed help drafting an essay. I always figured I was just lucky with the traits I strengthened as I grew up – which is the reason I did not think it to be that big of a deal, since my essays always got the same approval.
But this teacher was different. I had never got a letter from a teacher, telling me how grateful they were of the impact I made with my writing. This made me take a step back and think about the difference I had made. The letter, the words in the letter, made me broach the question of, “if I can make this big of an impact with a simple essay, what could I do if I took my writing a step further?”
This teacher proved to me that my capabilities can go so much further than just power essays. If I made THAT big of an impact on one person with one essay, what could I do with ten people with ten empowering speeches? Twenty people with twenty motivational speeches? How many people could I be effective with and how many essays, speeches, and/or messages could I put out into the world to shape it into a better place, a better society, a better life for all?
Just like one simple essay changed my English teacher’s life, one simple letter made me realize the power my words, voice, and actions have – made me realize that everyone has those words, that voice, and the ability of rightful action, as well; it’s just how you decided to speak, what you stand for, and the actions you take to make a difference.
With that being said, I'd like to thank Mrs. Warner, for all she has done for me by just a simple letter.

“A Perfect Day”
By: Hailey Dempsey
In a perfect day,
We all get a say,
We all have our own way,
We all get to stay
To help those at bay.
In a perfect day,
We all shine a light,
We all have a sight
Where we can make it right.
Where we can fix the past,
By focusing on happy memories that last.
In a perfect day,
We all sleep at night,
We all drop the fight,
So we can focus on the brilliant light,
That shines so bright.
In a perfect day,
We all have everything,
We all live our dream,
In peace
In happiness
In love
In kindness.
We work together,
Talk as a team,
So, we each can reach our dream,
To be everything.
In a perfect day,
The sky shines so blue,
Everyone is true,
Everything is restored and new.
In a perfect day,
Flowers grow like towers,
Birds sing like a bell ring,
The grass is tall,
And I picture it all.
In a perfect day,
There is justice,
There is respect,
There is no need to correct,
Or to be upset.
In a perfect day,
There is a tree,
A tree of happiness,
Of equality,
Of compassion,
And long-lasting action.
In a perfect day,
There is happiness and cheer,
With assistance and help always near,
With someone to guide you to success,
With someone to help clean a mess.
In a perfect day,
We stand strong,
We can do no wrong
If we unite
And do not fight.
In a perfect day,
It’s not about what you give
It’s not about what you take.
It’s how you live
And what you make.
In a perfect day,
There are smiles for miles,
There is nothing to regret,
But also, nothing to forget.
In a perfect day,
People realize,
That each and every day,
There is a sunrise.
In this sunrise,
Is a new chance,
To take a positive stance,
To look at yourself at a glance,
To change this world dance,
And become enhanced.
In a perfect day,
We all are equal,
We all are known,
We all are a part of this sequel.
In a perfect day,
The sun is out,
Kids play about,
Human are
united,
excited,
delighted
to be part of one
to have equal fun
and to become a positive ton.
In a perfect day,
War is not a thing,
Because we are all being
The best and greatest of our seeing.
In a perfect day,
The sun rises.
And with every chance we get,
We do the right thing,
So, we don’t regret,
Our actions that cost us to forget,
This perfect day.

Sustainable Business Scholarship
I’ve always wanted to make a difference in the world. While there are many areas of the world that needs work, I feel like I can make the most difference by supporting and acting in global warming, relating to carbon footprints. I believe that it is very important for businesses to implement sustainable practices due to the affects global warming causes – we are literally ruining our world by ruining our spheres and destroying the natural climate cycle. Every year, the total carbon footprint grows, seasonal climates get more and more intense, and our world changes for the worst. There are many ways humans, as individuals, can lower their carbon footprint, but the real way to deal with this would be to look at business’s carbon footprint rate, what they are doing that increases their carbon footprint, the effects of business’s carbon footprint, and look for alternative solutions to reduce business’s carbon footprint. Below are three ways businesses can implement sustainable, eco-friendly practices.
The first eco-friendly practice businesses can implement to reduce their carbon footprint is to use renewable energy sources. This can be things like using online meetings and online business events, purchasing energy from renewable resources – which will also save money – and turning off all lights in the building when it’s not in use.
The second eco-friendly practice businesses can use would be the three R's. The three R's are reduce, reuse, and recycle. Businesses can reduce the amount of paper, ink, and other non-renewable resources by having a set amount of paper per week to use – and once it’s gone, complete projects online if possible. They can reuse materials, getting creative, in order to save materials and reduce the carbon footprint at the same time. Paper, old projects, plastic, trash, and other recyclable materials should be recycled in order to not only reuse the supplies, but also to reduce the amount of material bought and the amount of material being wasted.
The third eco-friendly practices businesses can achieve in the workforce can be to get the partners of the business to also start using renewable resources and use the three R's. The more companies that are included in the plan to reduce the carbon footprint, the better the chances of lowering the rate of global warming, fixing the environment as a team, finding solutions to the crazy weather global warming has caused, and, truly, uniting to create a better world and make a positive difference.
Janie Mae "Loving You to Wholeness" Scholarship
Hi, I am Hailey! I am a homeschooler, working ahead towards early graduation. I am sixteen years old, and I start my senior year this summer. I love homeschooling and there is only one reason for it – I have more time to help my community, spread positivity, and help those who seek guidance and/or assistance in their daily tasks, current goals, and future dreams. I find myself to be very dependable, open-minded, empowering, motivating, encouraging, supporting, compassionate, and resilient. I believe in equality for all, rightful action, peace, perseverance, and commitment. With these traits, I would like to share them with the world, shining a positive light and a brilliant future for all in this world who want to see and create peace, happiness, love, and kindness around the world.
Ever since the fourth grade, when I decided to be the positive difference the world needs, I have been volunteering every weekend, donating canned food, clothes, and water to shelters and soup kitchens, joined many clubs that support and act to make a positively remarkable impact on the community, environment, and even the nation. I have volunteered at every place from kids’ summer camps to soup kitchens, from babysitting for free to creating a community garden in the neighborhood park with help and support from my neighbors, and so much more.
One club, which I joined in sixth grade, was called ‘Kindness Rocks.’ In this club, I painted empowering and motivating phrases and messages on rocks, decorated the rocks, and laid the rocks out on the ground at school, in not only my neighborhood, but the surrounding neighborhoods, restaurants, sidewalks, and parks. Not only have I joined many clubs like these, but I have also empowered and motivated others to reach their current goals, educational goals, and career goals by encouraging, supporting, helping, and guiding all who come to me with goals in place. I have had letter from teachers, commenting on my essays, saying how I have changed their world-perspective and encouraged them to live to their full potential each day with a simple influential or argumentative essay. All my friends have jobs, are driving, and will soon be on their way to their dream college – and they tell me that I am the reason they are so successful. They explain how I have motivated them to do what they always wanted but thought they would never be able to accomplish.
These actions I have taken to have influence are only my beginning steps in becoming the positive difference, the leader, the world needs. As I get older, I plan on traveling the world, helping others in need, providing resources they might not have, empowering and motivating everyone who listens to my words, looks at the positive impact I have made on their community, and takes rightful action to better their lives – just like I bettered theirs.

I'm also a very motivating and empowering speaker, and I believe that with my traits of compassion, kindness, equality for all, courage, and positivity, I can make a difference in people's lives by speaking my viewpoints, sharing my solutions to daily problems, lifting people up in a positive way, and shining the positive light this world needs to feel - the positive light that Evan shined on all.
Even though my field of study is still undecided, I am still doing all of the things listed above for my community and for the kids in hospitals. I feel a draw towards being a Nurse, and I just might go for it and become a Nurse.
OPTIONAL RESPONSE:
My dad is in the Air Force. He joined when he was just eighteen years old, jumping right into basic training. We have moved a lot over the past eighteen years, and my dad is on his third deployment right now. It's been hard for my family, having a great person like my dad gone on a deployment, but it's something he is doing for his job, his nation, his homeland, so we must accept it. Before his deployment, he always left for a week or two to another state or country, and we missed him then as well. Even though his multiple absences has taken a toll on the family, my dad is happy being a pilot for the U.S. Air Force and he loves his job. We are happy he lives his dream job and that he is happy as well.
Walking In Authority International Ministry Scholarship
When I was in the fourth grade, I decided that the world needed a whole three-hundred-sixty degree turn around in perspective. I saw the impact us humans can have on each other, and I decided that a grand impact of positivity, empowerment, and motivation is what our society needs. So, I set off to find out where I can make that positive impact. I started babysitting, volunteering every weekend at the soup kitchen, joined a Kindness Rocks club where I painted and wrote kind gestures on rocks, which I then put around my school, my neighborhoods, and all around every place I went. These actions were the first step in my search for shining a positive light in my community.
By the time I was in high school, I knew that there was only one inspiration in my life who kept me going, kept me helping the community with encouraging words, acts of kindness, and leading a great example for me. My stepmom was the one who drove me to all the weekend volunteer centers, all the soup kitchens, all the school community service events. She’s the one who taught me how to shine that special positive light everywhere I go. She showed me through her actions that a simple wave and smile to a stranger can make that stranger’s day. Every weekend my stepmom would be helping the community, teaching me the best way to volunteer in order to make the impact I’m looking for in the world. She had done wonders shaping me into a helpful, successfully positive person who does not stop achieving my goals of making the world a better place. My stepmom is the reason I am so successful in helping others turn their lives around in the brightest, most positive way possible. Whether it’s because I donated a bunch of varieties of canned food, clothes, sleeping bags, and water to the homeless shelter or that I wrote a letter of kindness responding to a friend in distress, I made a difference and I continue to make that difference every day, following in my stepmom’s steps.
I have start to make the influence of change in my community simply by starting with my teachers and friends from school. In my essays, I am motivational and empowering, changing many of my teacher’s mindsets. I have received many letters from my teachers, thanking me for changing their world-perspective and empowering them to do more with their lives. They have gained a more positive viewpoint of the world and how to act to solve the problems we have created for ourselves thanks to me. In some of the letters, they mention going out and helping the environment or starting a routine of volunteering or donating a certain amount of money each year to a special cause. All my friends, around forty of them, have signed up to volunteer, pick up trash, clear out dirty riverbeds, plant healthy plants in their backyards, and so much more due to my encouragement, support, and suggestions of how to make our community a better place.
Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
This might seem bias, and I’m not trying to be, but I know who the world’s biggest Minecraft Fan is, and who will always have special memories relating to Minecraft. It’s not me – I don’t play Minecraft. It’s a special little boy who is sweet and kind, who laughs and plays all day long, who learns and questions just about everything. Who is this special boy? Well, it’s my brother, Benjamin.
Although I don’t play Minecraft anymore – simply because I am busy with school, work, and chores – I watch as my brother’s face lights up every time he hears the Minecraft music. I listen to all the amazing creations my seven-year-old brother shows me each day. The excitement of his creativity and imagination coming to life! It makes me smile, seeing how happy Minecraft makes him.
It’s not about all the fun mods and activities that draws him into the game, it’s not about all the mobs and challenges in survival mode. It’s about who he plays with on Minecraft. Benjamin won’t play by himself most of the time. It’s about the person who makes Minecraft fun, who connects the little boy to the person he misses - our father. Our dad deployed five months ago, and being so young, it is extremely hard for Benjamin to be without his father. No, it’s not about the game itself. It’s about the exciting connection to his father – who is overseas – that Minecraft brings Benjamin.
To be able to fight off zombies at night and hunt for food during the day, to be able to overcome the challenges Minecraft brings is fun and all. But it’s his father’s voice he gets to hear while playing, his father’s cool Minecraft character he gets to see on the tablet. It’s his father who he is fighting these battles of mobs with. It’s his father who is bringing him smiles by building large mansions to surprise him.
Benjamin enjoys going in survival mode, building tree houses to live in, fighting mobs at night, and creating fun challenges for him and his father to do (examples can be a ‘Tiny Village’ challenge, a ‘Build a Farm in Twenty Minutes’ challenge, and/or a ‘Design a Mansion in Survival – No Respawning Allowed’ challenge).
Without Minecraft, Benjamin would be sad, wouldn’t be able to talk to our deployed father, and wouldn’t have the special connection Minecraft brings to the important father-son bond. For this, I am grateful for Minecraft and all the fun things they do together while playing the game.
Dashanna K. McNeil Memorial Scholarship
I've always had a calling to help everyone I've ever met, to heal what is broken, and to repair what is lost. Life can get tough, but with the right support and encouragement, we get through it. I believe that everyone should have that helper in their lives - that helper that listens to them, guides them, encourages their dreams and goals, and assists when they are ill or need medical attention. I've always been that helper for my family, friends, and even strangers who were in need of medical assistance or any other assistance. Throughout my journey of helping everyone who comes into my life, I've always been told that I would be a good nurse or doctor or even a therapist. Although I'm not sure I would like to be a nurse, even though I still might do it, I have many reasons for wanting to become a nurse, shall I choose that path.
For one, I would enjoy seeing the smiles on everyone's faces once they have been cured. I enjoy making smiles appear with helpful actions and kind, supportive words. I feel like the nursing field is just the place to make that smile-creating environment for all who come my way.
Secondly, I would be able to help cure and support people - something I would like a profession in doing. I would be able to make that difference, helping to heal what was broken each and every day while making people feel good.
For my third reason in becoming a nurse, it is a hint personal, but I will share it because it is what inspired me to help people. My brother, who was just two years old at the time, fell off a four-foot barstool. He was getting down and slipped. He tried to grab the table for help, but before I could reach him, he slammed into the floor on his side. I felt so bad that I wasn't fast enough to catch him. I was only eleven years old, already having that special place in my heart to help others, and it hurt my heart that I couldn't prevent his impact with the hard, wooden floor.
My step-mom and I hoped he was okay, that he was crying only because the fall scared him. Late at night, my step-mom came into my room, telling me that my brother needed to go to the hospital. We were up until one in the morning at the hospital, and I saw how the nurse soothed my brother into a calm state while the doctor took x-rays. I saw how the nurse made my brother feel better and I couldn't help but wish I was that nurse who made a crying toddler laugh within moments of entering the room. It was magical, and I want want to be that magical person in someone's lives.
I want to be a pediatric nurse, so that I CAN make giggles erupt and smiles appear for miles. So that I can make little kids feel better. What better way to do this than beome a nurse?
Raquel Merlini Pay it Forward Scholarship
For my career goals, I'd like to make an enormous difference in the world. Firstly, I'd like to be someone who helps kids who have illnesses. I want to find a cure for them and make them smile each and every day. I believe that with starting with the younger minds, I can show people that anything is possible if you just put in the effort and become best person you can be under the circumstances.
After I am in the medical field for around twenty years, I'll retire to become a reporter or journalist. Someone who shares the true stories, with the true facts, and life-changing solutions. Someone who shares with the world different perspectives to think on. A leader in media who helped children become healthier and happier in her previous career.
I deserve this scholarship because I am honest, hardworking, humble, respectful, and kind. I would like to excel in the real world while sharing these traits with all. I would like to show everyone that doing your best under any circumstance while being there for others at all times will lead to success and happiness for all. I would like to have your support in helping me reach my goals of becoming that doctor everyone loves, or that therapist that changes the mindsets of children and makes families happy. With your help and encouraging support, I can make the world a better place one child, one online article, one broadcast, at a time. This scholarship would benefit me by opening that door I've been trying to open for a while now and providing some funding for medical school. I've been told that my career choices are too much work, too much money, and that they just aren't realistic. I would like your encouragement to open this locked door, proving that I CAN be in the medical field for twenty years and still make a difference afterwards. I'd like to reach my life/career goals, to achieve them. I'd be very lucky and immensely grateful if you were to pick me as your candidate.
Snap EmpowHER Scholarship
Hi! My name is Hailey. I’m currently in my junior year of high school, going into my senior year this upcoming academic year. I am homeschooled, working ahead in my classes on the path to early High School Graduation. I have many goals in life, like many of us do, and I am determined to keep up the hard work to achieve those goals. My goals revolve around making people’s spirits soar with positivity, making smiles appear each day, and making the positive difference in the world. I believe in open-mindedness, kindness, thoughtfulness, organization, continuous effort, and perseverance. With these core values, I can share with the world where they have led me, where they are leading me, and how they continue to guide me to the road of peace, happiness, and success.
For my higher educational goals, I’d like to earn two associate degrees, two bachelor’s degrees, and two master’s degrees. I’d like to get an associate in journalism and in Marketing, a bachelor’s in communication and in Business, and then a Master’s in Entrepreneurship and in English Literature. I’ll also be learning five new languages so that I can travel to the countries I’ve always wanted to see and learn the cultures of. It’ll be a lot of money, hard work, confidence, and consistency – and I am willing to do it all to reach my goals.
I have a gift of writing, and I figured why not become a journalist and work your way up to a reporter or editor? Why not take my words of positive power and share them with all who care to read/listen to them? What better way to help the community, the nation, the world, than to give ideas, share true stories, give helpful advice and tips to those who seek it?
With my degrees and educational experiences, I hope to shine a positive light on the world in these stressful times of society. I hope to be the next influential speaker, like MLK Jr. or Malcom X. Someone who shines a rainbow in a whole new light. I hope to bring positivity and encouragement to women who want/need the empowerment, who want/need encouragement to fight for what is their right as a living creature on our planet. I want to make that difference using my peaceful words, my strong but open-minded viewpoints, and my gained wisdom to support women’s empowerment. I want to be that person giving speeches supporting women’s empowerment and world-wide right to be heard, understood, and make the change in the world that they would like to make.
Above is who I am, my educational goals, my career path, and the impact I would love to see in today’s modern world. I would love your support and encouragement in my journey.
Grandmaster Nam K Hyong Scholarship
We all have our strengths and weaknesses, our personal goals and challenges in life, our internal battles, and our personal accomplishments - basically the traits/ideas/moments that make you who you are and might cause you to self-reflect about what traits you can strengthen and what goals/differences you want to make in the world. Although I am not an immigrant, I'd still like to take the time to share a little about myself with you. I want to do this because I share those qualities of hard work, talent, and determination to expand my knowledge further as I look for ways to help myself gain a higher education and help not only my community, but also all who need it.
I figured I could be known as "The amazing doctor who retired after remarkable work in the office to achieve her other calling of changing the world!"
It's an interesting idea, and I'm going to make it my reality.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
I remember the day that I found out my best friend's personal secret. Something that was going on inside her that very few people knew. Sometimes, my best friend would do something or say something odd or surprising, but I never thought much of it until the day her secret was announced.
"Is Sierra coming today?" I had asked my mom, worried that my life-long best friend wouldn't show up to the homeschool event.
I was shocked to hear my mother's response. "No, dear, she's in the mental health center."
I had spent over thirteen years with Sierra, and I had no idea she was struggling with her mental health. From the outside, she looked just fine; healthy, friendly, even happy. I had no idea someone so encouraging, so brave, could have such a life-threatening struggle. Sierra was the greatest person I knew and for her to have this struggle opened my eyes wider, showing me that not everyone knew everything about everybody - even if they spent thirteen entire years with that person. It showed me that we all have internal battles we must face, but some of those battles are barely noticeable and can be dangerous at times.
Sierra spent four years in the mental health hospital, and it shaped how I viewed mental health assistance. They helped her significantly, enabling her to grow past her obstacles in life and overcome the challenges she faced. It made me think of my high levels of ADHD, which I had constantly blamed on everything I did. I blamed and blamed my words and actions on my ADHD, not realizing that others had way more struggles that were more important than my own.
Sierra showed me that people in the world needed help, and if I kept myself in my own little world, I would not be able to see the struggles of people to be able to help them. Sierra shaped my beliefs by showing me that every human needed support, care, and encouragement. She showed me that with the right programs, the right people, and the right support system, anyone can overcome their challenges and become the person that they want to be.
Sierra has helped me on my journey of helping others who seek support, advice, and comfort, simply by informing me about her story, her struggles, and her goals in life. She is the reason I do my best to understand people's thoughts, goals, and challenges throughout life. Without Sierra, I wouldn't be as informed, or even as understanding, of metal health issues as I am today. She changed my view of the world, and for that, I am indebted to not only her, but also the person who explained to me metal health issues, the dangers involved, and what we can do to help those people in need; my stepmom.
I also would like to mention someone I love very much, who is almost family to me, who has a mental delay. Her name is Shelby. She loves all thing Disney, princesses, and animals. She is in professional singing, dance, and more creative arts activities. The reason I mention her is because she has overcome so many challenges. She has learned to read, write, follow complex directions, text, communicate effectively, and so much more. For Shelby, all of this was a really big struggle. All doctors said she would be able to do it until she was at least thirty years old. Shelby has accomplished the tasks she was told she wouldn't be able to do by the age of twenty-two. When her brain stopped growing, I'm not sure. But Shelby, who is currently in a relationship, has taught me that anything is possible.
Due to my friends' extravagant accomplishes and overcoming of serious, difficult obstacles, I have been inspired to pursue a career that shows people that they CAN make a difference in themselves, that they CAN overcome obstacles in their way. A career that heals and cures illnesses so people CAN reach their dreams. A career that deals with mental health, so I can be that difference in people's lives. My friends have made possible for me to believe in myself, and in others. I will forever be the person I am today thanks to these three people who made a difference in my life - Sierra, my stepmom, and Shelby.
Eras Tour Farewell Fan Scholarship
"We're going to the Eras Tour concert!" My aunt said to me, smiling and excited.
I remember that day VERY clearly - it was my ABSOULTE BEST DAY EVER! I remember coming upstairs from my bedroom in the basement, my father calling me up.
I had absolutely no idea why they were calling me - it was too early for dinner and I was working on schoolwork, anyways. But the vibe of my family upstairs was happy, excited, positive, and encouraging. It was a change to the stress of the news that my dad was about to deploy for work. I enjoyed the welcome vibe radiating positivity, and was surprised to hear Taylor Swift music from the living room TV screen - I was the only one who usually listened to Taylor Swift.
That was when I saw my aunt, who had flown in from WA, on the couch, a gift bag in her hand. I hugged her, and she handed me the gift bag. My parents and siblings walked into the room then, smiling, cameras recording my every reaction. I wasn't sure what was going on - it wasn't my birthday, or a holiday, or anything like that to get a visit from my aunt, a gift, and cameras flashing in my face.
I sat on the couch next to my dad and opened the gift bag, surprised to pull out two Taylor Swift Lyric Themed shirts, light-up scrunchies, and three tickets to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour Concert. I was so excited - I squealed, jumping up and down, hugging my aunt, thanking her for buying the tickets for an early sixteenth birthday present.
I was thrilled! The very next day was the concert - and I COULDN'T WAIT! It was going to be AMAZING!
As I awaited the next day, I made concert bracelets for the Era's Tour with my aunt. I had spent the past two months listening to nothing but Taylor Swift, loving her music, her stories, her attitude and tone in the lyrics. I didn't even realize it, but I knew every word to every song Taylor Swift had released, and I was ready for the concert.
At the concert, Taylor Swift changed the way I viewed music artists/performers. I always enjoyed the shows they put on, but seeing it from a TV versus in real life, it made me see the hard work, the constant effort, the exhaustion Taylor had to be going through, and the absolute determination to keep going, to keep pushing forward, to never stop going and going and going.
Taylor Swift's music, the Eras Tour, and all the stuff I experienced that night taught me to reach my dreams, to push past the hard times, and to never give up. Taylor did it, and she continues to be my inspiration of hard work, determination, and reaching every goal, checking off every list with satisfaction. Just by her concert, it's shown me that Taylor is a SUPER STAR, and I can be too! Whether it's reaching my goals or being in my dream career, I can shine, just like Taylor.
Learner Math Lover Scholarship
I have many reasons for absolutely dedicating two and a half hours of my life a day to math. I'll narrow my reasons down to only two since I can only write four hundred words worth of why I LOVE math.
Firstly, I have excellent homeschool teachers and tutors that have encouraged me through the toughest of all math courses I have ever taken - Algebra 2. Whether it was Algebra 1, Geography, or even Algebra 2, I have always had an intense calling to overcome the challenge of math. My teachers are the reason I am so engaged in it and the reason I work on unrequired and ungraded extra math assignments for two and a half hours each day, no matter the day. I'm homeschooled, but I do Online school, so I have teachers to reach out to, but most of my completed work I did on my own.
I believe that with the right tools and the right educators, anyone can love math, just like me! The reason I say this is because I used to not like math. I have high levels of ADHD, which made it hard to work on schoolwork. But I found the right resources, the right teachers, and the right time and place to engage myself in math. I found teachers who made a game out of math, telling me stories that made me remember where the x goes and why the y turned into this or that.
My second reason for loving math is because it IS a challenge. Each day, when I sit down with my advanced math workbook for High Schoolers, I review the lesson, do the practice problems, work on the short math quiz, and the search up new practice and quiz problems, relating to the math concepts, to work on during the next hour and a half of my unrequired math study time. I challenge myself, working on thirty challenging word problems, equations, and/or 'find the solution' problems. I work every day on this, challenging my brain.
I believe that challenging your brain strengthens your mental abilities, and I am determined to strengthen every positive ability I have. I also believe that math is the best way to challenge yourself academically. I believe that with each teeth-grinding challenge in math that you overcome, you gain self-confidence and mental strength. It boosts self-esteem, as well!
I LOVE MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Redefining Victory Scholarship
Success means a lot of things to a lot of people. For me, it's three simple things that are the keys in my life that kept me going when things got hard.
Firstly, success is looking for the bright side in any situation - even is there isn't a bright side that is clear to see - and pushing forward, never giving up until you've reached that bright side. Secondly, success is being the best version of yourself, becoming that version of yourself, and sharing that best version of yourself with all the people you meet. (This includes doing your best, speaking your best words, taking your best actions, and being there for people, no matter what is going on in your own life) Thirdly, success is never stopping, never giving up, and reaching your full potential - overcoming all challenges life throws your way - every single day.
I believe these are the three keys of success - positivity, personal best, and self-discipline (self-discipline meaning you reach your full potential in all tasks, every single day) - because these are the core values that I spent years building upon to become the person I am today. I believe that your character, who you are, the amount of effort you put into yourself - whether that is holding yourself accountable each day or forcing yourself to do hard tasks - determines your success.
To me success doesn't mean having a high paying job, a nice car, a big house, and all that fancy stuff. Because you can still have all that stuff and not have the best character. You could have all the fancy stuff in the world, but not give back to your community, not smile as you walk past people at the store, not help the elderly person who is trying to cross the road.
Or, you can have a nice car, a huge house, a well-earned, high paying job while smiling and being friendly, while donating to a hospital or volunteering every other weekend at the soup kitchen, while helping the elderly cross the road.
Do you see my point? It's about your character, the traits you strengthen through every day actions, and the type of mindset you have relating to the daily obstacles in society. You can have the whole world - but how do you treat the whole world? What impact do you have on the whole world? What impression do you leave people with, relating to who you are and your personal characteristics?
This opportunity will help me because I am determined to make the world a better place, to steer it in a positive direction. I want to start with helping in the medical field, making little girls and little boys with illnesses smile each and every day. After twenty or so years in the medical field, I'd like to begin my journey in shaping the world. By becoming a journalist, I can get my ideas and views out there. I can share with the world my background that lead me to this realization of success, I can share who I am and how I want to help, and I can be that difference the world needs.
With your encouragement and support, I can achieve my goals and be that leader this world is looking for. I'd be very lucky, immensely grateful, and indebted to you if you decide to pick me your winning candidate.
Book Lovers Scholarship
Before I announce the life-changing book I would have everyone read, I'd like to explain why I believe this book is life-changing and go into details about the book.
This book has a special point that the author drove home when writing the book. The reason this book is so special to me is because it shaped my personal goals in becoming a better human - without this book, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
But, when she get's down to Earth and is implanted into the human's mind, she encounters that it isn't any human they put her in - it's a Fighting Human, a Survivor of the first waves of invasion.
The book is called: The Host. The main point the author wants to make is Humans are violent creatures, yes, it's true. But what can we do to save our planet and become a Species of Global Peace? Let's UNITE TOGETHER to become a world of peace and positive action.
Law Family Single Parent Scholarship
Although I'm not a parent, I'd like to share my struggles of living with a single parent.
"We just don't have that type of money," my mom told me at age eight.
At the age of eight, I discovered I wanted to become someone in the medical field AND someone in the media field. I wanted to do this because, for one, I always am inspired by the miracles doctors make in people's lives, for two, I want to be that miracle-creating doctor, and for three, well, I have many positive, encouraging, and helpful traits and skills I'd like to share with the world. When I asked my bio-mom what I had to do to become THAT doctor everyone loved and eventually become THAT media star that helped the world change positively, she said I needed to get great grades (straight A's), get into a bunch of extracurriculars when in High School, and go to college.
At eight years old, college wasn't a very known thing to me. All I knew about it was that it was an accomplishment to get into it and that if you graduated from it, you'd be successful in life - or so I was told at the time. What I was also told by my bio-mom - who was raising three other children on her own, working full time, and has no higher education - was that college was going to be way to expensive to be able to be something I could do. Surprisingly, this setback made encouraged me throughout the years to continue looking for alternative opportunities for higher education. I would not settle on the fact that my parent didn't have the ability to provide me aid. And I didn't expect her to, either - she was busy just trying to pay the bills and afford new shoes every couple years for the four children of the house.
Therefore, I was determined to find my own way of getting that financial aid. I got a babysitting job at age ten. I saved up my birthday money from other relatives every year so that I could reach my dreams. I didn't let anything stop me, either. When I came of age to look into colleges and scholarships, truly able to understand how things work better than at age eight, I still didn't have an amount of money even close enough to support myself. So I reached out, asking parents of friends about financial aid and the processes and requirements I would need. I continued to reach out and gain new information like free scholarship websites, special scholarship requirements, and really anything and everything I needed to know about scholarships. I enrolled in Online/Virtual School for High School so I could help my mom with my siblings. I went to all social events that located within reach of my home, volunteered wherever I could, and am continuing to meet all Test requirements of my potential field of study.
Coming from a single-parent household, I saw the difficulties and financial issues it comes with. I saw see my parent struggling, so I gave her my saved money, even though she tried to refuse it, and I continue to help her day in and day out. My mom's strength in handling every day life has shown me the struggles of not having a high-paying job because she couldn't get the degrees. I don't want to tell my children they can't go to college because I can't pay for it. This scholarship will help me achieve my goals of making the world better.
Donald Mehall Memorial Scholarship
For years, I have struggled with controlling my emotions, acting the age I am, and gaining the help I needed to overcome such intense emotions. For years, I missed out on a lot of opportunities, but I just couldn't seem to leap above the intense anger or sudden sadness that would change my moods throughout the day. I didn't know how and my parents didn't know how to help me either. We went to every mental health specialist, every phycologist, every therapist, and every doctor in town. No one could figure out how to help me. They gave me tools they gave everyone else; breathing deeply, counting, tapping my foot - but nothing worked. It didn't help that, even to this day, I have severe ADHD that makes things even harder.
While overcoming the intense reactions I wasn't even aware I was doing when I responded, I realized that if I just listened, I would be understood. I didn't need to be heard, but if I listened, I was understood. If I took a step back, slowed down, opened my eyes and ears, and just breathed for a moment, I could communicate in a way that I was actually understood. I missed out on a lot of opportunities because of my reactions - because it's not what you do, it's how you react that changes the course of a situation. It was important for me to learn this, to recognize this, and to practice this concept. It's all in the reactions - not the actions, but the RE-actions.
In the future, I plan on strengthening my calm, mature reactions. I set out to help others whom I see struggling with their emotions, to talk to them and explain how they can overcome what I had to overcome - so that they don't have to miss out on as much as I've lost in the past. I share my stories, to show people that they are not alone and that everyone and anyone can have whatever they desire, if they just controlled their reactions. Yes, life gets tough, and not everything will go your way, but if you react correctly, you'll get through it faster. This is the lesson I learned.

You know how we all have emotions? Some of us are not as good as handling these emotions, but others have a little bit of a better grasp on them, right? Let me get straight to the point here: I was one of those people who couldn't control their emotions very well. My emotions ruined everything for me. It didn't help that I blamed everyone else, took negative actions over and over, and did all of the above to make my situation worse. I didn't mean to make it worse, but I didn't feel good about myself - so my actions were negative - I didn't look my life straight in the eyes - so I didn't find the problem, even when people told me. I was stubborn and I refused to follow directions simply because I didn't like the task I was supposed to do.
As the years rolled by, I got sick of the stress, the anger, and the tension in my family. After years of blaming everyone but the real culprit, I truly couldn't find a way to stop the negativity. I had repeatedly disappointed my parents, failed at doing my chores correctly, and I simply didn't like my life.
But what was the problem? I was told who the problem was many times, but it wasn't until I actually stopped in my tracks, looked at the experienced people around me, and listened with a heart of willingness to change. It was me. I WAS THE PROBLEM. Not me, my BEHAVIOR. I realized in those three minutes that the people around me STILL cared - even after 14 years of negativity - that they were doing their best to help me. But the only person that could have the potential power to help me was . . . ME. Because I am in control of my thoughts - not the weather - I am in control of my words - not my brother - I am in control of my actions - not my mother - I am in control of my reactions - not the ant on the side of the road.
Not only is, my parents, my FAMILY STILL CARED!!!! After all I put them through, they still helped me, guiding me to success. When I realized that I was my only shortcoming, that my behavior was making me fail over and over and over, I decided to search for some help to overcome the years of negativity I created in my head, to heal some of the damage I created, and to become the person, adult, and example I want to see in the world today. My shortcoming, my failure was myself. I was my only limit to reaching my potential. This realization made me change myself to better change the world. I am in control, not my emotions, not my teacher, not the computer. I am me, and I strive everyday to be the best me there is.
I'm Hailey Dempsey, and I would do anything to help every person on this planet not only realize, but USE the key to controlling emotions and living peacefully - realize it's YOU who has the control. By overcoming the failure of intense emotion, I have succeeded in more ways that do not even relate to emotion or human interactions. This realization turned my world around. If you try it out, what might it do to your life, your family, and your potential?

Big Picture Scholarship
Before I announce this life-changing movie that has not only greatly impacted my life, but also shaped my life goals, I'd like to explain the movie in detail. But first, I'd like to say that this movie, the message of it, has really opened my eyes to the world, and has given me inspiration to research how we, as a community, can better change the world.
Next, I'd like to explain a little about the main character of the movie, and why she is so inspiring. In the movie, there is Earth, Humans, and the Aliens.
This movie is called: The Host.
The main point the author wants to make is: Humans are violent creatures, yes, it's true. But what can we do to save our planet and become a Species of Global Peace? If Aliens can do it universally, why can't we?
This movie has shaped who I am, has given me my life goal: Create a community, a nation, a world of peace, prosperity for all, and happiness for all who want it. LET'S UNITE TOGETHER!

For my career goals, I'd like to make an enormous difference in the world. Firstly, I'd like to be someone who helps kids who have illnesses. I want to find a cure for them and make them smile each and every day.

I'd like to nominate my stepmom, who is the reason I am shaped into this willing, helpful, courageous character. Without her, I wouldn't be able to pursue my dreams listed above. Let me tell you how she made the most enormous impact in my life.
She has shown me with her kind actions and perceptive thoughts that we, as a community, can make the world a better place - one step at a time. She showed me patience, and the rewards of it. She shows strength, even when she is suffering from a sleep disorder. Every day, she has never given up. She has graduated college, earned a masters degree, created a non-profit, and is raising three children by herself since my dad is deployed. Her strength to overcome her exhaustion, her commitment to daily tasks that aren't required of her, her kindness and patience to all - even when she's having a hard time - has shown me what it means to be the best person you can be, under any circumstances.

It seems to me that from the start of the day my dad was born, he was destined to be in the military. As a kid, he would always be educating himself on airplanes and jets. My dad was always fascinated by the air shows the Air Force displayed in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he grew up to be part of that one percent of awesome pilots! At sixteen years old, he joined JROTC, at eighteen years old, he was in basic training for the military, and now, at thirty seven years old, he is deployed in Kuwait, living his dream job. He accomplished many missions, reached many goals, and is still in the Air Force, doing wonders for our nation.
You might ask yourself, "Well, what does your dad being in the Air Force have to do with YOU?" I have a good answer for you that might even slightly shock you. Personally, I never had an interest of being in the Air Force, or even any of the Armed Forces - until I joined a program called CAP (Civil Air Patrol) at a Military Academy called CMA (Colorado Military Academy). CAP changed how I viewed the military and it's benefits. CAP showed me leadership, respect, responsibility, and accountability. The program engaged me in Aerospace and I learned a lot about what it means to represent America.
Due to my high ADHD levels, I am not eligible to be in the military unless I go two years with the medication I've been on since I was three years old. Here's my goal: Overcome the distractions, be able to think about one thing at a time, and excel in all I do under the circumstances I have - all without medication. It might seem easy to do, but, like a lot of things in life, it's not quite that simple. But I want to be that leader, that representor, that PILOT, that accomplishes, achieves, and encourages others to do their best using my future accomplishes as examples for what other people can achieve. To never give up. I want to rise and overcome this ADHD to be able to show people that while yes, it is a struggle, you can do wonders when you believe in not only yourself, but also your ability to do anything.
This is what CAP has taught me and encouraged me to do. I want to be in the military to represent America, to change the world for the better, and to encourage people to be disciplined; to reach their highest potential every single day, no matter what life throws at them. That is my goal after graduation, I'm reaching it one step at a time.

I believe that with this scholarship, I can reach my many goals, one step at a time. I'm very supportive of my community, nation, and the world in general, and I'd like to share my traits and experiences, as well. With this scholarship, I would be able to achieve my goals, making my dreams a reality. I would be so grateful, lucky, and appreciative if you were to choose me as your winning candidate!

The reason I am a non-traditional student is simple. Read below to find out why exactly that is.
I want to be that leader the world needs! Confused? Let me explain. All my life, I've seen the negativity that continues to grow as society gets more and more challenging and confusing. I've seen the impact of unnecessary violence, hurtful words, and anger we humans have inside of us.
I want to be that influential speaker, that powerful true-story writer, that amazing leader the world needs to start growing in a more positive direction. There are other leaders out there, and I'm ready to join them.
To accomplish this, I'd like to get an Associates in Creative Writing, a Bachelors in American / English Literature and in Influential Speech, and a Masters in Debate and Communication. I also have the plan on attending a trade school to learn some trades in case I would like to travel around the world to become an influential speaker. While doing all of this, I'd like to pick up three languages: Spanish, French, and German. I plan on taking online language courses to complete this goal. I have a very positive outlook on life, and I'd like to share it with the world. I'd love for people to understand my perspectives and use the advice I give them to succeed in life.
I believe that with this scholarship, I can reach my many goals, one step at a time. I'm very supportive of my community, nation, and the world in general, and I'd like to share my traits and experiences, as well. With this scholarship, I would be able to achieve my goals, making my dreams a reality. I would be so grateful, lucky, and appreciative if you were to choose me as your candidate.

I'm here for people, no matter what is going on in my own life.
The personality traits I have, like kindness, humbleness, positivity, empathy, and respect, I look for opportunities to strengthen them. I go out and volunteer any time I get the chance to. Dr. Edward V. Chavez Athletic Memorial Scholarship
When I was little, my parents divorced. I never got to spend a single year with my bio-mom. I don't even know if she IS alive - my bio-dad won't talk about her. What isn't so great about this is the fact that I have an emotional delay of four years, and no one knows how I got it or how to help me. I have a feeling my bio-mom would know. I only say this because I was told that my emotional delay, based on the evidence, is because of trauma experienced at a very, very, VERY little age - the age I could have been. I'll never know my answers, and that's what nags at me - because how could I have the condition and not have any way of knowing my answers for where this condition took place?
I also have very intense ADHD, and sometimes I need someone to talk to about how I'm focusing and what I'm thinking about - but I don't have anyone to listen to me. Sometimes, I wish she was here, talking to me, giving me advice, actually listening to me. I imagine what it would be like, what I would say to her, and her possible response. I wish she could pick me up from activities. I wish she could meet my friends and be the one doing my hair for school Prom. Better yet, I wish I could get to know her, get to know and understand the person who made my existence possible.
When I was maybe three years old - maybe even four years old - my bio-dad put me in Gymnastics. I'm still not at a competing level, but gymnastics helped me when I was younger, and even today it still helps me. It gives me something intense, exhausting, and rewarding - all at the same time - to focus on. The other gymnasts I have become friends with throughout my basic training, and they also help to distract me.
I work hard in gymnastics and sometimes I have this belief that if I worked hard ENOUGH, my bio-mom would walk in and see my accomplishments and incredible progress. It's a silly thought, dream, reality - whatever you want to call it - but it helps me push through tough times. The energy I put into my sport is rewarded, but, at times, I feel that the only reward would be to SHOW my bio-mom who I am and what I can do.
Even though I have these thoughts and random feelings relating to my bio-mom, I've learned from them as well. I've learned what it means to be there for someone, and I've learned what it means to be supportive, encouraging, and understanding of someone - traits I wish someone I knew had in my life, so that I could be encouraged and supported, so that I could be understood and listened to.
Here's how I pay this forward: I am the very best person I can be, no matter the circumstance. I help and listen and don't seek to be understood until I understand the person. I'm the person I want in my own life, someone who is positive and kind and resilient and understanding.
Dimon A. Williams Memorial Scholarship
"We just don't have that type of money," my biological mom told me at the age of eight.
I got a babysitting job at age ten - charging ten dollars an hour per kid.
I enrolled in Online / Virtual School for High School so I could help my bio-mom with my siblings. I went to all social events that located within reach of my home, volunteered wherever I could, and am continuing to meet all Test requirements of my potential field of study.
Coming from a single-parent household, I was able to see the difficulties and financial issues it comes with. I was able to see my parent struggling, so I gave her my saved money, even though she tried to refuse it, and I continue to help her day in and day out.
My bio-mom's strength in handling every day life has shown me the struggles of not having a high-paying job because she couldn't get the degrees. I don't want to tell my future children they can't go to college because I can't pay for it.
This scholarship will help me achieve my goals of making the world better.

Bookshelf to Big Screen Scholarship
Twilight is my absolute favorite book series to read. I know it's older than other series, but when comparing the Twilight Books to the Twilight Movies, I've got a LOT to say.
I've been reading Twilight every night since I was fourteen years old. As soon as I opened the book and read the first ten pages, I was automatically hooked - and to this day, I can not put the Twilight Series books down. I've been able to use the events in Twilight and build on them, creating novels using the Twilight Characters and Character Personalities. Twilight boosted my love for reading and writing and expanded my creativity and imagination. Without Twilight, I wouldn't be able to imagine, create, and write about so much or analyze the character's experiences and perspectives as well as I can today.
Not only has Twilight boosted my skills in literature and the imagination, Twilight also taught me that with enough practice, thought, effort, and positivity, you can create anything and turn it into a work of wonder. Thanks to Twilight I have be able to create twelve books using the writing, reading, and literature skills I learned from Twilight. Some of these skills include intense-energy Dialogue and simple but unique character traits and perspectives. Other skills include thinking about who I want to be as a person and implanting that into a character, or even multiple characters. Twilight is very special to me, and I recommend it to anyone who is a huge bookworm like me.
When talking about the gap between reading and viewing experiences, the Twilight Book Series and the Twilight Movie Series are two very different but equal experiences. What I mean by saying that the viewing experience is different than the reading experience is how I interpreted the scenes/chapters, the character looks, and how the characters expressed their personality. When I say that the movie viewing experience versus the book reading experience is equal, I mean that most everything in the books happens in the movies - it's just a different scene/background in the movies than I had imagined while reading the books.
For example, with the 'bad' vampires, the movie has different character perspectives that are not shown in the books. But then with the books, there are some words/phrases that I believe should have been in the movie to tie the movie closer to the books.
Although I couldn't watch the movies until I turned sixteen, I read reviews about it and gained a better understanding of it throughout the years. This helped me compare what was being said about the movies to what I was reading in the books. This helped my analyzing and compare and contrast skills.

One type of technology that inspires me is the Cell Phone. Not only does the Cell Phone enable human beings to share stories, document memories / take pictures, communicate with others, and so much more, the advances in technology of the Cell Phone has increased / evolved so much that it's evolution is well past our own evolution as the Human Species. The Cell Phone has given us wonders for our Society and there are MANY benefits we have thanks to the Cell Phone.
One thing I find so amazing about the Cell Phone is that just a hundred years ago, we didn't have ways of easy communication, of calling for help in an emergency, or even posting a story online - we didn't even have a thing called "online". Now, our Cell Phones give us the power to share influential stories that make people feel good about themselves, to share real news that informs people about topics, to call or text in an emergency.
Not only that, but Cell Phones give us tools we can use to get creative. It has drawing apps, photography apps, writing websites. It gives us the ability to share tips and tricks for every day tasks. With Cell Phones, we are able to make the world a better place by sharing these stories, by calling for assistance in times of trouble, of talking to loved ones over the phone.
Speaking of talking to loved ones over the phone, I'd like to share a little story.
My dad, who is currently deployed, is having a hard time away from us, his family. Without Cell Phones, I wouldn't be able to talk to my dad. He wouldn't be able to see us or talk to us without the many benefits of the Cell Phone. Whoever created this amazing creation, whoever keeps advancing it's many tools, I would love the opportunity to say the words, "thank you for creating the Cell Phone. I wouldn't be able to communicate with my dad or call for assistance without it. So, thank you."
Without the Cell Phone, Society would be different and communication would be a struggle. That is why I nominate the technology of the Cell Phone that makes the world a better place.
Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Women in Healthcare Scholarship
I've always had an intense calling when I saw others in need of help. Whatever the case may be, I always am here to help. Anytime I see someone in need, I stop what I'm doing and rush over to help them. I'd like to be someone who helps kids who have illnesses. I want to find a cure for them and make them smile each and every day. I'd like to be that doctor, or scientist, who changes lives positively. I have great communication skills, amazing compromising strategies, and I'm good at listening and understanding anyone's point of view and helping them through whatever they are struggling with. Whether it's a pediatric doctor or a emotional-help therapist, I'd like to be there for the youth of the modern world. I believe that with starting with the younger minds, I can show people that anything is possible if you just put in the effort and be the best person you can be under the circumstances.
Ever since I was little, I've been interested in the medical field. I loved going in to get my blood drawn simply because I enjoyed the equipment. I loved check-ups simply because the doctor would have me follow their fingers or other small tests like that. As I got older, I started diving into medical research. I bought books about human beings, memorized every bone, muscle, disease, illness, treatments, and medicine there was throughout human history. I spent a good four years reading, taking notes, and creating models relating to medicine and treatment plans. I learned some medical procedures while on summer camp field trips. I have several composition notebooks full of detailed notes and drawing regarding medical stuff in a memory box collected over the years. My point being, I've always had a natural draw to the medical field, and I'm ready to pursue it. At age twelve, I realized I could use what I've learned and make a positive impact. I could be that doctor that saved lives or that medical scientist that created THE cure that healed a person from cancer. Therefore, I set out to find programs that would better educate and prepare me. My parents found an online program that had actual scenarios and simulations with activities, informational passages to read, and quizzes to test what you've learned. The program taught me everything, from atoms to the human body, from science experiments to medical procedures, from diagnosis's to treatment plans. I learned a lot, and I've retained that information over the years. With the knowledge I hold today, I want to pursue my medical career, becoming someone who makes other people feel better, who shapes their live in a more positive way. I want to help kids become healthier and make them loss the fear of 'the doctor' at a young age. Starting with the younger generation, shaping them to LOVE becoming healthy and happy with themselves, I can make a huge impact with one happy, healthy child at a time.
Bald Eagle Scholarship
You know how we all have that hero that saved us? Whether it was your parents who got you out of financial debt or even a best friend you changed your way of thinking, someone changed your life for the better, whether they - or even you - realized it or not, you were a better person because of them. Right? I have someone special that I would like to nominate most influential in my life. This person has helped me through the ups and downs, through the struggles of childhood, through the times of stress and anxiety. This person has changed who I am; has made me into a stronger, resilient, positive, and helpful person. I would not be able to reach my goals, think in a positive direct in stressful moments, or even function correctly without this person in my life. I want to nominate my stepmom, for going above and beyond in changing the reality of my world, and for changing who I am today.
You see, my stepmom has done things for me that she would do for her own children and MORE! She has shown me with her kind actions and perceptive thoughts that we, as a community, can make the world a better place - one step at a time. She showed me patience, and the rewards of it. She showed me strength, even when she continues to suffer from a sleep disorder. Day in and day out, she has never given up. She has graduated college, has her masters degree, created a non-profit, and is currently raising three children on her own since my dad is deployed on a military work trip.
Her strength to overcome her exhaustion, her commitment to daily tasks that aren't required of her, her kindness and patience to all - even when she's having a hard time - has shown me what it means to be the best person you can be, under any circumstances. She has given me so much advice for life, so much happiness, and so much love that it has made me learn this: if my stepmom can do it for me, when I'm not even her own child, even when she's struggling to stay awake during the day, every human can do it too.
From her kindness, patience, and resilience has shown me that even when we are struggling, we can overcome anything. We can rise over our personal challenges, focus on what needs to get done, what issues we need to solve, and make the world a better place.
This is my goal, and I wouldn't have had this goal, this view on life, if it wasn't from the internal experiences my stepmom has shown me. If it wasn't for her struggles but also her strength every single day and every single night, I wouldn't know what it requires to be understanding, kind, patient, and accountable. From her experiences that she has shared with me, my stepmom is the most influential in my life; teaching me to never give up when things get hard, to always look to the future while remembering the past, and to make every day better than yesterday. She has shaped who I am today into a leader, a listener, and a world changer. For that, I am indebted to her.

These are my goals, and I would very much enjoy and be very lucky and grateful for your support and encouragement so I can reach my goals and be that difference, that leader, the world needs

I want to be that leader the world needs! Confused? Let me explain. All my life, I've seen the negativity that continues to grow as society gets more and more challenging and confusing. I've seen the impact of unnecessary violence, hurtful words, and anger we humans have inside of us.
Youth Equine Service Scholarship
For my volunteer service, I have mainly worked with an organization that is called, horses4heroes, all lowercase, with the number four in the middle for the word 'for'. During my volunteering time at horses4heroes, I created fun, excited games and crafts for little kids, created outside games for the little kids, told the older kids who signed up for the horse-riding how to walk a miniature horse, educated them about the shedding of fur and how it relates to the seasonal changes, how to become a horse's friend versus how the horse sees you as an enemy if you come at them from in front of them or behind them, and how to correctly ride a horse. Every Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday, I would volunteer at horses4heroes, learning something new each and every time I was there.
My mom, who stays at home to homeschool me and my siblings, created a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization called Homeschool Teens of CO. I have volunteered in this organization as well, in fundraisers, helping to set up homeschooler social events, and gaining immense support for the organization almost overnight!
I have also participated in writing an informative article on the Global Warming Crisis, giving people tips, tricks, and facts all about how we, as a whole human community, can slow down the warming of our planet if we just take little steps each week to prevent the CO2 in the air. This article most people loved and commented on, enjoying the idea that if we just took easy, small actions, we can save the Earth, our one and only home.
Now, I'm going to tell you what each of the volunteering experiences from above taught me, and how it shaped my view of the world.
First up, horses4heroes! One day, when I was watching the kids at horses4heroes, a girl got trampled in the bouncy house. When I heard her cry, I dove into the bouncy house and carried the injured girl out. This experience taught me that I can do anything I desire, if I put in the effort and be the best person I can be. The reason for this experience is because I didn't think I could fit into the tiny opening at the stairs of the bouncy house, let alone carry an eighty pound nine year old whose ankle had twisted. But I did, and I saved the girl from becoming more injured. The lesson of this experience: I can do anything, I just have to put in the effort and go for it while being the best person I can be!
Next, I'll tell you about what volunteering for Homeschool Teens of CO has taught me about myself. For one, it has taught me about the expenses of organizations, the hard work and enormous effort it takes to create the organization, and the willingness, resilience, and commitment it must take to uphold the organization. It opened my eyes to new opportunities and showed me how hard people had to work to achieve their dreams. Lesson of this experience: Hard work, determination, and the push to keep moving forward is rewarding, you just have to DO it to be successfully!
The third thing I'd like to mention is that article I wrote that got positive feedback. While it's not quite volunteering, it shaped the eyes and views of the people that read it. I made that difference - a difference I didn't realize I made - and I'll continue to make more!

VonDerek Casteel Being There Counts Scholarship
For my career goals, I'd like to make an enormous difference in the world. Firstly, I'd like to be someone who helps kids who have illnesses. I want to find a cure for them and make them smile each and every day. I'd like to be that doctor, or scientist, who changes lives positively. I have great communication skills, amazing compromising strategies, and I'm good at listening and understanding anyone's point of view and helping them through whatever they are struggling with. Whether it's a pediatric doctor or a emotional-help therapist, I'd like to be there for the youth of the modern world. I believe that with starting with the younger minds, I can show people that anything is possible if you just put in the effort and be the best person you can be under the circumstances.
I deserve this scholarship because I am a very honest, hardworking, humble, respectful, and kind person.
I've been told that my career choices will be too much work, too much money, and that they just aren't realistic. I would like your encouragement to open this locked door and prove that I CAN be in the medical field four twenty years and still make a difference afterwards. I'd like to reach my life / career goals, to achieve them, and I'd be very lucky and immensely grateful if you were to pick me as your candidate.

Throughout my whole life, I struggled with my emotions. My parents found it a problem, so they found every therapist in the city to help me. As I went to appointment after appointment, nothing seemed to be working to help me. We finally found a certified, professional therapist that came up with the right diagnosis and strategies to help me. I had a four year emotional delay due to early childhood trauma. This was my struggle - overcoming the intense anger or sudden sadness, overcoming the abrupt mood swings and extreme reactions I didn't realize I was radiating when I got super emotional.
As I began to conquer this challenge that seemed to bleed into every aspect of my life, it shaped my character. It made me more self-cautious of not only my words, body language, and moods, but also my surroundings. It made me see other people's perspectives clearer. It helped me see that others struggled with more important issues. It opened my eyes up to a world of suffering, of pain and loss that I wasn't aware of because I was inside my own little world.
Therefore, I decided to find a career where I could do my best to solve those health issues, to cure those diseases, and to see the world turn into a better place.
Most of what I witnessed came down to illnesses and mental health issues - serious stuff - and I immediately convinced myself that I could cure these problems. That I could pursue a career in medicine, accomplish my educational goals, and become that scientists, or doctor, that made cures for the world.
Without my emotional delay, I don't think I could have opened my eyes to the real world around me. I have a goal of curing the hurt that illnesses cause in the world. My emotional delay, conquering it, made me see that others had problems too, and that they were suffering way more than I was. That they could be fine one moment, and in a crisis the next. This showed me strength and resilience in people who were internally, or even externally, suffering. Seeing how people dealt with their struggles in such a brave, mind-blowing way shaped my frame of mind. It made my dream of a career in medicine turn into a search of reality.
My pursue of a career in medicine with become my reality, and I will turn the world into a better, healthier, and happier place.

While I am not sure I want to participate in a public service field, I'm thinking more on it and researching more about it. Shall I choose the path of public service, I know I would do wonders in helping and giving back to not just my community, but also other communities. I know that if I were to make this option a future for myself, I would complete meaningful work, improve the quality of life in and near my community, and feel good not only about myself, but also about the people I helped out. A career in the field of public service would strengthen my character traits of working hard when it's hard to work hard, giving a helping hand, supporting and encouraging a healthier and cleaner way of life, and providing resources that people in the community can enjoy.
If I were to pick a public service career field, I would pick a career in education. I believe that, out of all the options I would have, education I would go with because I would be able to shape the amazing mindsets of the modern world. I would be able to give little kids, or even high schoolers, a different way of looking at learning. I would make learning fun and engaging. I would teach students facts that they would remember for life! I would be that teacher that everyone loves because not only would the students leave the school with a load of information presented in a fun way, they would also be taking with them valuable information that they can use in the real world.
I believe that by starting with shaping the modern mindsets of learning in a new, exciting way, I can make a difference in the world. I can make that difference by presenting students with a new way of learning, a new way of presenting information, a new way of thinking. Starting with changing the attitude students have with learning, I can then move onto creating organizations that help the community.
I could create an organization that includes student participation, free activities and events, and fun, exciting, and new ways to learn. This is what I would do with the education I would learn in going to school to be apart of the public service career field of education.
Just to recap, I would use the knowledge I learned in my own schooling to change the idea of learning into something engaging, fun, creative, and noteworthy - helping students remember informational facts, fun learning activities, and amazing social skills that they would bring into the world, confident and positive in their goals and dreams. Then, I would create an organization that took all of the learning experience and share it with the community to help create powerful, creative, positive, and confident mindsets throughout the world - one step at a time.
These are my goals and I'm determined to reach them if I decide that a career in public services is best for me.

Around the age of twelve, I realized I could use what I've learned and make a positive impact. I could be that doctor that saved lives or that medical scientist that created THE cure that healed a person from cancer or chaotic illness. Therefore, I set out to find programs that would better educate me, since I was educating myself.
Staring with the younger generation, shaping them to LOVE becoming healthy and happy with themselves, I can make a huge impact with one happy, healthy child at a time.

I know that this scholarship is prompted for mental health setbacks, but I'd like to share setbacks that have to due with my emotional health.
J.Terry Tindall Memorial Scholarship
You know how we all have emotions? Some of us are not as good as handling these emotions, but others have a little bit of a better grasp on them, right? Let me get straight to the point here: I was one of those people who can't control their emotions very well.
Evan T. Wissing Memorial Scholarship
I'm sure many people say this, but I've been through the ups and downs of life - and not in the way you think. You see, I wasn't born in a good situation. My parents married right out of high school - not the best idea, as I'll explain why exactly this was NOT the best plan in a second - my dad had spent his whole teenage life working, and my mom wasn't responsible in anything. My half-brother, Mathew, was already born, mind you, when they married. My dad took Mathew in, and supported him like it was his own son. Soon enough, I was born. But my dad didn't want another child, for he had just got out of basic training, was working 2 jobs just to keep water and bread on the table, and my mom didn't clean so he came home to a messy house - after working all day, no one wants to clean a house, you know? My mom lied about having me and it caused much stress. My mom didn't even want me, either. I was neglected. Locked in my room at 2 years old by my mom the second my dad left the house for the day.
Between the fighting of my parents and my needs not being met until my dad came home, it caused my emotional development to decrease in years. I'll explain more about this in a second.
When my parents divorced - everyone knew it was going to happen one way or another - my dad won me and we set out into the world! Indeed we struggled, but we survived. Then, one day, my dad found a women he also went to high school with. She moved in after a year or so, and I met her at 2 years and 364 days old. She is my hero, my dad's savior, and has built us a good life. She is the only reason I am here today, the only reason I have the money for this computer, the only reason I am happy.
But I have a lot of guilt, I must confess. You remember that emotional delay I was talking about earlier? Yes, well, growing up, I had intense anger no therapist could solve, I took unruly actions that has backtracked my future goals, I caused a lot of anger and stress in my family members - stress and anger they didn't deserve. As the years have gone by, I have learned to listen to the people around me, to communicate in a peaceful manner even when upset, to believe that I CAN change, that I AM changing, and that I everyday I MAKE change in myself.
I used to be a total tornado of dangerous emotion, and I've emotionally wounded others who've tried to help me. When I realized that I AM the one in charge, that I control my thoughts, words, actions, and reactions, my whole world turned around.
Now, I am getting my first job - I got hired at the interview, actually - volunteering any chance I get, helping others through the struggles that were once my own, and changing not only myself, but others who decide that they want to get to were they are now, to reaching their potential every day.
I'm hoping to go to a college, start a career, and help others who are experiencing what I overcame with determination. My name is Hailey Dempsey and this was the story of how I got from a hole I buried myself in, to flying higher than the sky.
