Pursuing a career in nursing is not just a professional ambition for me; it’s a calling rooted in my deep desire to care for others. Currently, I am in my second semester of nursing school at Southern Union State Community College in Opelika, Alabama and I also take online BSN classes through Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
My journey toward nursing began during high school when I was awarded a clinical internship at East Alabama Health in Opelika, Alabama. There, I shadowed surgeons, nurses, doctors, and techs, and I was profoundly moved by the compassion and dedication of the nursing staff. I witnessed firsthand how nurses not only provided medical care but also offered emotional support and comfort to patients during some of their most challenging moments. This experience ignited my passion for nursing, as I realized how much I wanted to be part of a profession that prioritizes kindness and empathy.
I find immense joy in caring for others, whether through my volunteer work with my church, where I help distribute meals, visit the homebound, or engage with the youth group. Each interaction reinforces my belief in the importance of compassion. I remember a specific instance when I volunteered at a homeless shelter and said hello to a homeless man. He was so happy that I came up to him and asked him how he was. He said, “usually people don’t even treat me as a human.” Just listening to him for a few hours, hearing his story and offering support made a big difference in his day, reminding me of the impact we can have on others’ lives by doing something so “small.”
Recently, I received the “Nursing Apprenticeship” award at East Alabama Health, allowing me to gain hands-on experience while working alongside an experienced nurse. This opportunity will equip me to become the best nurse I can be! I love the dynamic environment of the hospital, where every day presents new challenges and opportunities to provide care and kindness to patients. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that I can help provide comfort, and foster a sense of security in individuals during their most vulnerable times.
My goals as a nurse revolve around treating each patient with love, dignity, and compassion. I believe in building trusting relationships and creating an environment where individuals feel valued and supported. I am aware of the financial burdens that can accompany higher education, which is why I am seeking scholarships to ease my financial pressures and allow me to focus on my studies.
When I graduate, I plan on gaining two years of experience in medical-surgical nursing at East Alabama Health. I then plan to pursue further education and become a Nurse Practitioner. This path will enable me to provide comprehensive care and ultimately establish my goal which is starting a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the poor and homeless in my community. By offering accessible services, compassion, and support, I hope to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who often go without.
Ultimately, my purpose is to love, know, and serve God by caring for His children and being His “hands and feet.” I feel called to embody this mission through nursing. I am committed to being a source of hope and healing in my community, and I look forward to making a lasting impact through my work as a nurse. As Mother Teresa says, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Love and compassion will change the world. Thank you so much for considering my application.

Pursuing a career in nursing is not just a professional ambition for me; it is a calling that I believe will significantly impact my local community. I am a senior in my second semester of nursing school at Southern Union Community College in Opelika, Alabama. I also take online BSN classes through Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
I am originally from Auburn Alabama and I attended Auburn High School. In high school, I was awarded the clinical internship with East Alabama Health, there, I shadowed surgeons, nurses, doctors, and techs in different areas of the hospital. Growing up, I always wanted to be a doctor, but after my high school internship, I decided to pursue a degree in nursing. I saw how caring and compassionate the nurses were and how much time they spent with the patients, I knew I wanted to be a part of that.
My passion for caring for others has been a driving force in my life. I love to volunteer at different organizations with my church such as handing out meals, visiting the home bound and volunteering with the youth group for three years. Recently, I have received the prestigious award, the “Nursing Apprenticeship” with East Alabama Health (EAH) in Opelika Alabama, where I presently work as a Nurse Apprentice. This award has allowed me to gain hands-on experience and enhance my skills in a real-world setting. As an apprentice, I work along side a nurse, where I am taught 1 on 1. This opportunity has reinforced my commitment to becoming the best nurse I can be!
My goal as a nurse is to treat each patient with the love, dignity, and care they deserve. By fostering trusting relationships and providing compassionate care, I aim to create an environment where individuals feel valued and supported during their most vulnerable moments. This personal connection is crucial, especially in healthcare, where the human touch can make all the difference!
Financially, I am aware of the burdens that student debt can impose. That’s why I am seeking scholarships through Bold.org, not only to alleviate my own financial pressures but also to ensure I can focus on my studies and professional development. My goal is to graduate debt-free, enabling me to save for my future, such as advancing my career.
I plan on gaining experience in medical-surgical nursing for two years at EAH. Then, I plan to pursue further education to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP). This role will allow me to provide comprehensive care and, ultimately, to establish my own practice. My dream is to create a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the poor, homeless and those in need in my community (Auburn/ Opelika). By addressing healthcare disparities and providing accessible services, I hope to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who often go without.
My ultimate purpose is to love, know, and serve God by being His hands and feet to His children. I believe that through nursing, I can embody this mission by offering care and compassion to every patient I encounter. I am committed to being a source of hope and healing in my community, and I am excited about the possibility of making a lasting impact through my work.
Thank you for considering my application. I am eager to contribute positively to my community as a nurse and to continue my journey of service and care.
