Music fuels my soul—it runs through my veins like fire. Singing, dancing, and performing make me feel alive. I want to make people smile, to move and inspire them through the music I sing, play, and dance to. When I listen to my own original songs, I sometimes even see visions—moments of clarity that remind me this is my purpose. The artists who have inspired me throughout my life have given me hope and a better outlook on life, because words truly can change someone’s world—and they changed mine. I have returned to college twice now. After dropping out in 2018, I earned my Associate’s Degree in Business Administration in May 2025. Finishing that degree felt rewarding, but I knew something was missing. My heart wasn’t fully in it. I decided to return once again, this time to study Music in the Fall of 2025. When I first came back to college in 2023, I didn’t feel supported to pursue music—roadblocks appeared every time I tried to move in that direction. But during the summer of 2025, right after earning my Associate’s, I quietly made the decision to follow my passion. I am deeply grateful that I did. I need to breathe, speak, feel, and see music. I cannot go another year without it—it’s a part of who I am. Since beginning my music studies, it has taken time to adjust to being surrounded by other creative people, but I’m finally in an environment that challenges and inspires me. For years, I was around people who belittled my aspirations and told me music wasn’t practical. Even my mom implied it wouldn’t earn me enough to live on. But despite the doubt and negativity, I continued to retreat into my inner world, where music has always been my sanctuary—and my truth. In the future, I hope to inspire children to never let go of what makes them happy and to carry that joy into adulthood. Whether it’s music, building with Legos, or creating innovative technology, I want to remind them that they are always free to follow what their souls desire. I also hope to one day provide scholarships for future generations of musicians from all backgrounds, regardless of class or income. I often wish I had received piano or voice lessons as a child, because even though I’m now studying those areas in college, I believe it would have been easier if I had been encouraged to start young. Music has taught me that it’s never too late to begin again—and I want to help others discover that truth, too.

The music landscape has been changing rapidly with the rise of streaming services and social media platforms, where algorithms largely determine which artists reach listeners. While these systems can be powerful, they are also limiting, often promoting a small selection of artists while overlooking others with similar sounds or visions. As an aspiring musician, I navigate this landscape by sharing my original work online and connecting with audiences who resonate with my style. My goal is to revive the timeless sound of the 80s—through soft rock, Italo disco, Latin pop, ballads, funk, and disco—while creating music in both English and Spanish that adds nostalgia. I enjoy singing in multiple languages, including Swedish and Italian because I believe music is a universal language that connects cultures. As a Mexican artist, I want to show how music can honor traditions while reaching across borders. Prince was the artist who inspired me to create nostalgic, 80s-inspired music. While working at a thrift store, I often heard “1999” and was captivated by its energy. As my taste grew, so did my love for the greats before me. Laura Branigan has had the deepest impact on my life; her powerful voice and emotional interpretation helped me push through intrusive thoughts and gave me the courage to live and create. Without her, I may not have pursued music at all. Vocally, I am shaped by Laura Branigan, ABBA’s Anni-Frid Reuss and Agnetha Fältskog, Irene Cara, Freddie Mercury, Rocío Dúrcal. I also draw inspiration from Queen, ABBA, Earth, Wind & Fire, and from the Mexican legends I grew up with: Juan Gabriel, Rocío Dúrcal, Ana Gabriel, Joan Sebastian, and Conjunto Primavera. Growing up in Chicago’s Little Village, I remember how the sound of duranguense bands like Montez de Durango filled restaurants. Music has always surrounded me, from the Casio keyboard where I memorized Mozart’s Turkish March at age twelve to today, as I study music in college after completing a degree in Business Administration. Pursuing music hasn’t been easy—I haven’t always had family support—but I’ve gained the courage to follow my lifeline. I want to create meaningful music. Artists like Prince, Freddie Mercury, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA, and Joan Sebastian have shaped the way I think about structure, melody, and storytelling. I hope to follow in their footsteps by creating songs that uplift, unite, and endure. Beyond singing and songwriting, I aspire to be a performer. In college, I am enrolled in Tap Dance and Jazz Dance because I want to embody rhythm physically, not just vocally. Like Irene Cara once sang, “Now I hear the music, close my eyes, I am rhythm.” I strive for that same connection—allow rhythm to flow through me so when I perform, the audience doesn’t just hear the music, they see it alive in movement. I also plan to bring diversity and inclusivity into every performance. As a proud Mexican artist, I envision my shows featuring dancers of different cultures and a wide array of skin tones, dancing to cumbia, duranguense, merengue, and other genres alongside me. My goal is to share my culture in a way that welcomes everyone to be part of it. When I reach a successful point in the music industry, I plan to give back to my community college, which have been supporting me in invaluable ways on this journey. In today’s ever-changing music landscape, I see myself as a bridge and revivalist honoring the timeless sounds of the past, fusing them with my cultural identity. Sharing them in a way that unites people across borders. I hope to make a positive impact.
