Simon Strong Scholarship
Hello my name is Grishma Mahorkar and Throughout my life, I've always been drawn to helping others, but it was a challenging experience that truly shaped the way I see both myself and the world.
Last year, my family went through a difficult financial period. My father lost his job, and suddenly, we were struggling to meet even basic needs. As a student, I felt a strong sense of responsibility. I wanted to contribute to my family, but I also didn’t want my education to suffer. This was the moment where I realized that adversity is not just something you get through—it's something that can push you to grow.
I started looking for ways to support my family and balance my education. I began working part-time in addition to keeping up with my studies. It wasn’t easy. I would wake up early to finish my assignments before heading off to work in the afternoon. The exhaustion was overwhelming at times, but my determination to succeed kept me going. I also started volunteering at a local community center, providing support to families who were facing similar struggles. Through this, I realized that adversity connects people. We all have our battles, and sometimes, helping others fight theirs can give you strength to face your own.
Working part-time and volunteering while being a student was a challenging balancing act. There were days when I questioned if I could handle it all, but I kept reminding myself that these experiences were temporary stepping stones toward a better future. I started organizing my time better, developing strong time-management skills, and creating a schedule that would allow me to manage work, school, and my volunteer commitments without falling behind.
What I gained from this experience wasn't just practical skills but a deeper understanding of myself and others. I learned the value of hard work and sacrifice, not only for my own benefit but also for my family's well-being. At the same time, volunteering opened my eyes to the fact that many families around me were going through similar struggles. Being able to assist them, even in small ways, gave me a sense of purpose and showed me that community and compassion are powerful tools for overcoming adversity.
This experience taught me perseverance and resourcefulness. I learned that when things get tough, you have to find a way, even if it seems impossible at first. It shaped me into someone who values hard work, community, and resilience.
If I were to give advice to someone facing similar circumstances, I would tell them not to be afraid of asking for help. It's easy to feel like you're alone when things are tough, but there are people who care and want to see you succeed. Also, I would remind them that hard times don’t last forever. If you keep pushing forward, you will eventually come out stronger. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn something about yourself and to grow. Don’t give up.
Throughout this journey, I also learned the importance of balance—between school, work, and personal life. It was through discipline and careful time management that I was able to excel in my studies while supporting my family. This balance is something I will carry with me as I continue to pursue my education. Ultimately, facing these challenges has strengthened my drive to achieve my goals and contribute positively to society. I want to use my experiences to inspire others, showing them that with determination, resilience, and a little support, it's possible to overcome even the toughest situations.
Once Upon a #BookTok Scholarship
When I first stumbled upon #BookTok, I had no idea it would change the way I see books and reading. What started as casual scrolling quickly turned into a deep dive into the world of literature. #BookTok has introduced me to so many books I might never have found on my own, and it’s helped me build what I would call my “ideal bookshelf”—a collection that reflects my tastes, challenges my thinking, and connects me with a global community of readers.
At the top of my bookshelf is *The Song of Achilles* by Madeline Miller. This book completely blew me away. I found it through a #BookTok video where the creator was almost in tears, talking about how deeply the story had moved them. Intrigued, I decided to pick it up. The book’s beautiful writing and its themes of love, honor, and destiny really struck a chord with me. It’s one of those stories that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page. #BookTok played a huge role in making this book popular, with countless readers sharing their emotional experiences and interpretations. The community's discussions about the characters and their arcs made me appreciate the book even more.
Another must-have on my bookshelf is *The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo* by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This novel wasn’t just a read; it was an experience. I remember watching video after video of people discussing the plot twists and the complex character of Evelyn Hugo. The way the book touches on themes like fame, identity, and the cost of ambition is something that resonated with me, and it seems to have struck a chord with the #BookTok community as well. It’s fascinating how a platform like TikTok can bring people together to dissect a book’s deeper meanings and create a shared experience out of reading.
*It Ends With Us* by Colleen Hoover is another title that has made its way onto my bookshelf, thanks to #BookTok. This book opened my eyes to the complexities of relationships and the impact of difficult choices. The conversations on #BookTok about this book were intense, with people sharing their personal stories and connecting them to the novel’s themes. It’s amazing how a book can inspire such a wide range of emotions and thoughts, and #BookTok has amplified that by giving readers a space to share and connect over these experiences.
Finally, I have to include *The Midnight Library* by Matt Haig. The concept of exploring different lives and choices through a library of books was both intriguing and comforting to me. This book resonated with so many on #BookTok, especially during times of uncertainty, because it speaks to the universal desire to find meaning and happiness in life. The discussions around this book on #BookTok were filled with hope and reflection, and it was uplifting to see how many people found solace in its pages.
These books have not only impacted me personally, but they’ve also shaped the #BookTok community in profound ways.
In building my ideal bookshelf, I’ve realized that it’s not just about the books themselves, but about the connections they inspire. Each of these titles represents a different aspect of my reading journey, and #BookTok has been the thread that ties them all together. This community has deepened my love for reading and shown me that books have the power to unite people across the world. I’m grateful to be part of a movement that values the magic of stories and the shared experience of getting lost in a good book.
Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
Minecraft has always been more than just a game to me; it’s a world where my imagination can truly run wild. The moment I first logged in, I was captivated by the infinite landscapes, each block representing endless possibilities. But what really hooked me was the game’s combination of creativity, adventure, and the sense of achievement that comes with each new challenge.
One of my favorite aspects of Minecraft is its high-level graphics and how they play a crucial role in building my virtual world. While the graphics might seem simple to some, they allow for a level of creativity that other games just don’t offer. The blocky textures give you the freedom to create anything you can imagine, from sprawling castles to intricate redstone machines. I remember the first time I successfully built a redstone contraption—a simple automatic door. The sense of accomplishment I felt was unmatched, and it sparked a desire to keep pushing the boundaries of what I could create.
What really resonates with me about Minecraft is its ability to make you feel like you’re part of a living, breathing world. Surviving that first night, when the mobs come out and you have nothing but a wooden sword and a dirt hut, is an experience that’s both terrifying and thrilling. It teaches you to plan, adapt, and think on your feet—skills that are valuable not just in the game, but in real life as well.
Exploring the game’s vast biomes, from dense forests to endless deserts, gives me a sense of adventure that keeps me coming back. Each world is unique, and there’s always something new to discover. The thrill of mining for diamonds, the satisfaction of building a farm, or the excitement of finally reaching The End and battling the Ender Dragon—these are moments that stay with you long after you log out.
But beyond the gameplay, what makes Minecraft truly special to me is the community and collaboration it fosters. I’ve spent countless hours playing with friends, working together to build massive structures or simply surviving the night. The game encourages teamwork and problem-solving, which makes every success even more rewarding. It’s amazing how a game made of blocks can bring people together from all over the world, creating friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
In conclusion, Minecraft resonates with me so deeply because it’s a perfect blend of creativity, challenge, and community. It’s a game where you can build your dreams, explore new worlds, and connect with others in a way that’s both fun and meaningful. For me, Minecraft is more than just blocks and pixels—it’s a world of endless possibilities, and I’m grateful for the countless hours of adventure it has given me.

Jennifer and Rob Tower Memorial Scholarship
From a young age, I’ve always believed that kindness is one of the most powerful forces in the world. My parents instilled this belief in me, teaching me the importance of compassion, generosity, and the impact of even the smallest act of kindness. As I’ve grown, these values have shaped who I am and driven me to seek out opportunities to help others, particularly those who are most in need.
One of the most meaningful experiences in my life has been my involvement with *Santa Chavara Jan Kalyan Seva*, an organization dedicated to helping children who are battling serious illnesses like cancer and HIV. I began volunteering with the organization when I was 15, and it has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Seeing children, some even younger than me, facing such overwhelming odds was heartbreaking. Yet, it was also a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the profound impact that kindness and support can have on someone’s life.
During my time with *Santa Chavara Jan Kalyan Seva*, I was involved in a variety of activities aimed at supporting these children and their families. One of my roles was helping to organize events to raise funds for medical treatments, which were often beyond the financial reach of the families. I also spent time with the children in the hospital, playing games, reading stories, and just being a friend they could talk to. It was in these moments that I truly understood the importance of being there for someone. A simple smile, a game of cards, or just listening to their stories could make a huge difference in their day, bringing a little bit of joy to what was otherwise a very difficult time in their lives.
These experiences taught me that kindness isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about being present, showing empathy, and offering support in whatever way you can. I learned that the smallest acts of compassion can have a ripple effect, spreading positivity and hope far beyond what we might initially imagine.
Another significant experience that deepened my understanding of kindness and its impact was my involvement in the *Vande Digital Bharat* campaign. This initiative was particularly close to my heart because it combined my passion for technology with my desire to give back to the community. As the leader of this campaign, I worked to introduce students from slum areas to quality technology education—a resource that many of them had never had access to before.
The campaign was driven by the belief that education, particularly in the field of technology, is a powerful tool for change. In today’s world, where technology is advancing rapidly, having access to digital education is essential for success. However, many children in underprivileged areas lack the resources and opportunities to learn about technology. Our goal was to bridge this gap by providing them with the tools and knowledge they needed to thrive in a digital world.
We organized workshops where students could learn basic computer skills, coding, and even some robotics. We also worked to secure donations of computers and other necessary equipment, ensuring that these students could continue their learning journey even after the workshops ended. The excitement and eagerness to learn that I saw in these students were truly inspiring. Many of them had never used a computer before, but within a few sessions, they were confidently navigating the software and even creating simple programs. Watching them gain these new skills and seeing their confidence grow was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Through this campaign, I also learned the importance of leadership and collaboration. Leading a team of volunteers, many of whom were also students, taught me how to organize, delegate, and work together towards a common goal. It was a valuable lesson in the power of collective effort and the difference that a group of committed individuals can make in the lives of others.
Reflecting on these experiences, I’ve come to realize that kindness is not just a one-time act but a way of life. It’s about consistently choosing to make a positive impact on the people around you, whether through volunteering, sharing knowledge, or simply being there for someone in need. The kindness I’ve been able to show others has not only helped them but has also shaped me into a more empathetic and aware person. It has driven me to continue seeking out ways to make a difference, to be a source of support and positivity in the world.
The legacy of Jennifer and Rob Tower, defined by their kindness, love, and generosity, is something I aspire to carry forward in my own life. I believe that true kindness, like theirs, has the power to change the world. This belief motivates me to keep finding ways to help others, to continue spreading kindness, and to make the world a better place, one act of goodness at a time.
Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math has always been more than just numbers and equations to me; it’s the language that explains how the world works. I remember the first time I solved a complex problem on my own—it felt like unlocking a hidden door to a new universe. This feeling of discovery is what drives my passion for math.
At 17, I’ve found that math isn’t just a subject in school; it’s a tool that I use daily, especially in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence. Understanding these concepts allows me to create systems that can solve real-world problems, something I’m very passionate about.
Math also teaches me to think critically and solve problems creatively. Whether it's developing AI models or simply figuring out the best way to manage my time, the skills I’ve honed through math are invaluable.
What I love most about math is its universality. No matter where you are or what language you speak, math remains constant. It connects different fields and helps us make sense of the world. This universality makes me feel like I’m part of something bigger, something that transcends boundaries.
I want to continue using math to push the boundaries of technology, and this scholarship would help me do just that. I believe that with math, we can solve some of the world’s most pressing challenges, and I’m eager to be a part of that journey.
Operation HVAC
My dad is a police officer, and he's always been my hero. Growing up, I’ve watched him leave for work every day, knowing he might not come back the same way he left. It’s not exactly the same as being in the military, but I think there are a lot of similarities. He’s always put other people first, and that’s something I’ve really learned from him. The way he carries himself, with so much dedication and focus, has shaped how I see the world and what I want to do with my life.
I’m still in high school, studying computer science, but I’ve realized that the world needs people who can do things with their hands—like HVAC technicians—to keep everything running smoothly. I might be interested in technology, but I also want to make sure that I’m doing something that helps people in a real, tangible way. HVAC is one of those fields where you can see the impact of your work immediately, and that’s something that really appeals to me.
The discipline my dad has shown throughout his career has definitely rubbed off on me. I’ve always been taught to work hard, stay focused, and take pride in whatever I do, no matter how small the task might seem. I think these qualities will help me not just in school, but also in any job I end up doing. Being precise and careful is something I’ve learned from him, especially since a small mistake in his line of work can have big consequences.
I also really want to give back to the community, just like my dad has done. If I get into HVAC, I’d like to help veterans and people who might not have the means to get the services they need. I think everyone deserves to live in a safe and comfortable environment, and if I can be part of making that happen, I’d be really proud of that. Maybe I can even volunteer to help out veterans or work with organizations that focus on helping them.
All in all, my dad’s service has taught me that it’s not just about what you achieve for yourself, but how you use what you’ve learned to help others. That’s something I want to carry with me, no matter what path I choose. I’m excited to take the next steps, and I hope that through this scholarship, I can get the support I need to make a real difference, just like my dad has done.

GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
“Losing you is easier than lying to myself that you love me.” – This lyric from Olivia Rodrigo’s "GUTS" struck me like a lightning bolt. As a 17-year-old, navigating the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence, I often find myself caught between the desire to hold on and the need to let go. Olivia’s music speaks to me in a way few other artists do, capturing the raw, unfiltered essence of teenage emotions that are so hard to put into words.
Growing up in India, I’ve always been drawn to music that tells a story. When I first listened to "GUTS," it was like Olivia Rodrigo had peered into my soul and put my feelings into her lyrics. The honesty and vulnerability in her music resonated deeply with me, especially during a time when I was grappling with my own emotions. There was a moment last year when I had to confront the reality of a close friendship drifting apart. I kept telling myself that everything was fine, but deep down, I knew the connection was fading. Olivia’s lyric reminded me that sometimes, it’s better to face the truth than to cling to something that’s no longer there.
Listening to Olivia Rodrigo has become my way of processing these complex emotions. Whether I’m feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of school or trying to figure out who I am and where I belong, her music is like a guide through the storm. The way she captures the intensity of teenage emotions—love, jealousy, heartbreak, and confusion—makes me feel less alone in my experiences. It’s comforting to know that someone out there understands exactly what I’m going through, even if I’ve never met them.
Olivia Rodrigo’s music has also taught me the importance of embracing vulnerability. In a world where we’re often expected to have it all together, her lyrics remind me that it’s okay to feel deeply and express those feelings. It’s okay to be confused, to hurt, and to be unsure of what comes next. Through her music, I’ve learned to be more honest with myself and others about what I’m going through. It’s helped me to connect more genuinely with my friends and family, and to be more compassionate towards myself.
The "GUTS" album, in particular, has been a source of strength for me. Songs like “get him back!” and “love is embarrassing” show the messy, imperfect side of love and relationships, something I’ve experienced firsthand. They remind me that it’s okay to make mistakes and to learn from them. Olivia’s courage in sharing her own experiences has inspired me to be more fearless in facing my own challenges.
I’m applying for this scholarship because I believe that Olivia Rodrigo’s music has profoundly influenced my perspective on adolescence. Her lyrics have given me a voice when I struggled to find my own. They’ve helped me navigate the ups and downs of growing up, and they continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration. As I look ahead to the future, I know that the lessons I’ve learned from her music will stay with me, guiding me as I continue to grow and discover who I am.
In conclusion, Olivia Rodrigo’s "GUTS" album is more than just music to me—it’s a reflection of my own journey through adolescence. Her ability to capture the complexity of teenage emotions has given me the courage to face my own experiences with honesty and strength. This scholarship would not only support my education but also allow me to continue exploring the ways in which music, like Olivia’s, can inspire and empower others.

Vegan Teens Are The Future Scholarship
Two years ago, I made a decision that would transform not just my diet but my entire perspective on life. Adopting a vegan lifestyle wasn't just a choice; it was a commitment to living in harmony with my values—respect for all living beings, care for the planet, and a desire to make a meaningful impact on the world around me.
The journey began when I first learned about the environmental and ethical implications of animal agriculture. The more I researched, the clearer it became that my personal actions could contribute to a larger cause. I realized that by choosing a vegan lifestyle, I could actively fight against the climate crisis, reduce global water misuse, and stand against the cruelty inflicted on animals. Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
When I was 12 years old, I experienced a dark period that lasted for nearly two years, a time marked by intense feelings of sadness, loneliness, and confusion. At such a young age, I didn't have the words to describe what I was going through. I only knew that I felt disconnected from the world around me. This period of depression was brought on by a series of events, including bullying at school and the pressure to succeed in an increasingly competitive academic environment.
I come from a family where mental health was not openly discussed. My father is a police officer, a man of great strength and resolve, who serves our country by protecting civilians. Growing up in such an environment, I learned early on that showing vulnerability was often seen as a sign of weakness. So, I tried to hide my pain, bottling up my emotions and pretending that everything was fine. However, this approach only deepened my feelings of isolation.
It wasn’t until I confided in a close friend, who had noticed the changes in my behavior, that I began to understand that what I was experiencing was not something I had to go through alone. My friend encouraged me to speak with a school counselor, who provided a safe space for me to express my feelings without judgment. This was the first step in my journey toward healing.
Therapy became an essential part of my recovery. Through regular sessions, I began to unpack the trauma of being bullied and the overwhelming pressure I felt to succeed. The counselor helped me understand that my worth was not solely defined by my academic achievements or by the opinions of others. Slowly, I learned coping mechanisms to manage my anxiety and depressive thoughts. I also began to engage in activities that brought me joy, such as playing video games and exploring the world of computers, which had always fascinated me.
As I started to feel better, I found myself drawn more and more to the world of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI). I was amazed by the potential of AI to solve complex problems and to create systems that could learn and adapt. It became a passion that not only gave me a sense of purpose but also became a source of inspiration and motivation. I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in computer science, with a focus on AI, to contribute to a field that has the power to change the world.
However, my journey was not without challenges. The stigma surrounding mental health in my community made it difficult to fully embrace my experiences. I often felt like I had to keep my struggles a secret, fearing that others would see me as weak or incapable. But as I continued to learn and grow, I realized that my experience with depression had given me a unique perspective on life. It taught me the importance of empathy, resilience, and self-compassion—qualities that I now carry with me in all aspects of my life.
In college, I hope to use my passion for AI to develop technologies that can make a difference in people’s lives, particularly in the field of mental health. I envision creating AI-driven tools that can help identify early signs of mental health issues, provide support to those in need, and reduce the stigma associated with seeking help. My experience has shown me that no one should have to face their struggles alone, and I want to be part of the solution that ensures help is always available.
Today, at 17, I am proud of how far I have come. I no longer see my experience with depression as a weakness, but as a testament to my strength and determination. It has shaped my goals, deepened my relationships, and broadened my understanding of the world. I am determined to continue this journey, using my skills and experiences to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Future Leaders Scholarship
As a student in the 12th grade at Platinum Jubilee Junior College, pursuing a specialization in computer science, I have consistently sought to be more than just an individual learner. I have always believed in the collective growth of my peers and the power of teamwork. My journey as a student leader began early, when I realized that true success isn’t just about excelling individually, but also about elevating those around me. This belief has shaped my approach to academics and my role as a leader within my school community.
One of the most significant experiences where I demonstrated leadership was during our annual science and technology fair. As the head of the organizing committee, I was entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating a team of 30 students, all with varying levels of enthusiasm and skill. The objective was to create a platform where students could showcase innovative projects, pushing the boundaries of creativity and technical knowledge.
However, the path to success was riddled with challenges. The first major hurdle was uniting a group of individuals with diverse interests and strengths. Initially, there were disagreements on project ideas and division of tasks. Some team members were more focused on theoretical concepts, while others were interested in practical implementations. This discord threatened the smooth execution of our event.
To address this, I employed a strategy that focused on open communication and collaborative problem-solving. I organized a series of brainstorming sessions where everyone could voice their opinions, ensuring that each team member felt heard and valued. By fostering an environment of mutual respect and inclusivity, I was able to align everyone’s efforts towards a common goal. I also delegated responsibilities based on individual strengths, which not only improved efficiency but also boosted the confidence of my peers.
Another challenge we faced was a lack of resources, both in terms of time and materials. The college’s budget for the event was limited, and we had to be resourceful. I initiated partnerships with local businesses and alumni, securing sponsorships and donations that provided us with the necessary tools and equipment. Moreover, I encouraged my team to think creatively about how to make the most of what we had.
The impact of our collective efforts was profound. The science and technology fair was a resounding success, with a record number of student participants and attendees from neighboring schools. The projects showcased were diverse and innovative, ranging from AI-driven applications to sustainable energy solutions. The event not only highlighted the talent within our college but also inspired younger students to pursue STEM fields.
This experience solidified my belief in the importance of leadership that empowers others. It taught me that effective leadership is not about dictating terms, but about guiding and supporting others to achieve their potential. As I look ahead to my future career, I am committed to applying these leadership principles in every aspect of my life.
In the field of computer science, where collaboration and innovation are key, I plan to continue fostering environments where teamwork thrives. Whether I am leading a research team, developing new technologies, or mentoring future students, I will strive to inspire those around me to push beyond their limits and create positive change. Leadership, to me, is about making a lasting impact, and I am determined to carry this ethos into my future endeavors.
By empowering others, we can collectively achieve more than what is possible alone. This scholarship would enable me to further my education and enhance my leadership skills, equipping me to make a meaningful contribution to the world of technology and beyond.

When I was 12 years old, my life changed in a way I never expected. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and in that moment, my world turned upside down. I remember the day vividly—the cold hospital room, the anxious faces of my parents, and the heavy silence that followed the doctor’s words. The months that followed were a whirlwind of surgeries, treatments, and long hospital stays. But the hardest part was the uncertainty. Not knowing if I would be able to go back to school, play cricket with my friends, or even dream about the future.
The tumor was physically draining, but the mental and emotional toll was even more challenging. I often wondered, “Why me?” But as time passed, I realized that dwelling on the “why” wasn’t going to help me move forward. I had to find a way to turn this experience into something positive. Slowly, I began to focus on what I could do instead of what I couldn’t. I started to see each day as a gift, and I promised myself that I would make the most of it.
My journey through cancer taught me the value of perseverance. There were days when I felt like giving up, but I pushed through because I knew that I had to keep fighting, not just for myself, but for my family who stood by me through every difficult moment.
