Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship
My journey on pursuing a computer science degree came from working most of my life in the Restaurant business. I wanted to do something new, a career path that I chose. Technology is moving at such a rapid pace, I knew that a computer science degree is what I was going to achieve. Failure is not an option for me. I am living one of my lifelong goals right now and that's going back to school and getting my degree. Did I mention I am 42 years old, and I haven't been in school in over 15 years. The dream job that I know I am going to get is to be my my own Boss, I would like to be an Entrepreneur. I would like to buy cheap properties and flip them myself for the most part. I have experience in painting and construction jobs. I have completely gutted and remodeled my mother's old house. I am the right choice for this scholarship because when I read the questions, I instantly knew that this scholarship was the one for me. All three questions have huge meaning to me. I raised three children and have four beautiful grandchildren. I have earned a spot on the Dean's List two semesters since starting college in May of 2022. The reason for saying failure is just not an option is I have two daughters who have been incarcerated for 5 years now. They we're 13 and 20, now 18 and 25. My 25 year old has a 40 year prison sentence and my 18 year old got juvenile life, which in the State of Louisiana is 21 years old. My 25 year old was 2nd in her Class at LCIW Women's Correctional Center and is waiting to get into Tulane. My 18 year old is going to College also and her Major is Criminal Justice. So you see, we all have been through a lot and we motivate each other. I had to show my girl's a better example. There is no other way to go but forward. I hope you s e the meaning in this Story like I do.
