“I am the main character. I’m convinced my own story is the most important one, with my overinflated ego and abundant sense of self-importance.” These sentiments are contrary to what I’ve learned from playing the “main character” role several times throughout my high school career, though. In fact, I don't even want to pursue theater in college; though I love performing, my true passion is for dentistry and helping others create a smile they’d be proud to present on a stage. As mentioned, I've played many lead roles in high school, from Wayne Hopkins in "Puffs," to Stanley Yelnats IV in "Holes," to Horton the Elephant in "Seussical." I learned that the golden thread tying these characters and myself together is the realization that being a “main character” is not as important as recognizing the value and significance of others’ roles, as well. I've challenged myself academically in high school, taking nearly every high level science course and the highest math courses possible. I am also a National Merit Finalist! My leadership experiences have shaped who I've become. As a retreat leader at my school, I wrote an hour-long talk called "Love in Action," where I detailed times I've received love, shown love, and failed to show love. As president of the International Thespian Society board at my school, I've grown both as a performer and a mentor. As Bass Section Leader in show choir, I've been able to teach others music in a simple and fun way! I hope to carry all the best lessons away from these experiences and attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall!
