Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math is what drives the world. I feel like everything can be explained by math, past, present, and future. My love for math has been rooted in my spite for calculators, and my infinity for weather. Calculators I think, are bulky and sometimes inefficient. I get frustrated when someone is asked a simple question like what's my income if I work 12 hours at 17 bucks an hour? I immediately think oh, its 204. Instead the person must pull out their phone to calculate when I knew the answer immediately! Math did that! I also am fascinated by the math behind weather. Future Radar, a tool everyone uses. Helps plan outdoor events. People dont quite understand the complex math behind modeling these forcasts. Supercomputers galore, models predicting what today's weather will be! Do people understand the math behind it? It may not be perfect due to it being a natural science, but the math is still there. Math is what builds the foundations for these Supercomputers to operate and help us! There is so much more math is used for and these are my first things that come to mind of why I like math, I like how applicable it is to everything. Math is what makes the world go round!
Michael Rudometkin Memorial Scholarship
As both a Boy Scout and Eagle Scout, I have been taught to always help others. This can be different for everyone. For example, giving a Scout guidance is helpful for them, giving a tip for a employee who went over the top is helpful for them, helping a friend complete a task is helpful for them, and helping someone in need with money or material is helpful for them. Help, is different for everyone and I can give you an example for each and every kind of help. Just 2 days ago, I was driving past my residential street to find a old lady who couldn't start her lawn mower. So, I parked the car and got out to help because I know a lot about mechanics. Come to find out, she ran the gas dry so when she filled the gas tank back up, the tractor didn't have any gas in the engine itself causing it not to start. So I turned the choke to max and waited a minute, after that, mover started flawlessly. Just like that, I helped someone in need. Another example can be how recently, my family went to Jamaica. Last October they where hit by a Catagory 5 Hurricane worst ever in the Islands history. What we did, we brought a large box of school supplies and extra money. We ended up donating the box to the resort we stayed at for they where running the program. The extra money, we gave to certain employees through talking, we discovered lost everything. The extra money was ever potent because the US dollar is extremely valuable in Jamaica. I can only imagine how much my family helped on our trip to Jamaica. I have found helping others also helps yourself. Whenever I do help someone, I feel better and enlightened. I am fortunate that my teachings is to be generous and my family is to! I look forward everyday making an impact and helping others. Going onto scholarships, if you are in debt from school, your options are limited on helping others. The less debt, the more I can help others. Ultimately money makes the world go round, so to make a larger impact, you must have at least some money. With this and other scholarships, I will be able to help others like my family does because I have surplus funds to sustain myself and then extra to help others in need. Thank you for the opportunity and promoting people to help others. Grayson Shelp

When I was preparing my Eagle project I kept checking my checklist and tools, trying to prep as much as I could before the scouts arrived. When all was set and done, my Eagle Project turned out amazing! I realized also that I gave valuable tool skills to the scouts who volenteered. Becoming an Eagle Scout after changed my life, I was able to be like my father who is also an Eagle Scout, and learn what I ment to be a leader but it was my project that gave me the real world experience. My Eagle project felt like a moment where all those skills mattered at once and matched the real world of management preparing me so I do not crash and burn on my first career management position like many others do. Leading volunteers for the project pushed me into new kinds of responsibility. I scheduled people, explained tasks, and adjusted plans when things did not go exactly as expected. Those moments of organizing other crazy 13 year olds was hard, but I learned to break tasks into clear steps, assign roles based on strengths, and keep morale up with simple direction and encouragement. That same approach shows up when I work as a lifeguard: I stay alert, communicate short and precise, and take charge when safety matters. It also has effected me in my athletics in competition for cross country and swim season, when nerves and outside factors wanted to bring me down, instead I was able to preform and rise! Outside those team settings, I balance quieter skills that keep me grounded. I take care of koi and chickens and garden in my spare time. Maintaining living things taught me patience and attention to detail. Designing parts in CAD and printing them on my 3D printer taught me to troubleshoot, test, and iterate until something works. Playing bass gives me a chance to really focus on something until it is perfect and ready to compete for. These hobbies remind me that focusing on my inner skills, is just as important as outside skills. This scholarship matters because every bit of funding reduces the strain on my finances. Going for a doctorate, specifically a PharmD isnt cheap. I know if i need to take out big loans they will follow me for 10+ years. I also wont be able to do my hobbies I love so much because they are expensive too!Scholarships no matter the size, mean I can focus more on learning, internships, and hobbies. Instead of drowning in debt, scholarships will allow me to enjoy life and help others. For example, i want to donate and support good deeds, my church, and Boy Scouts, but how can you do that if you dont have any money! If awarded this scholarship I would use it to cover tuition and fees so I can keep contributing to this world and help others. Putting this into words is part of the path I started in Scouts: make a plan, follow through, and help others along the way. Money makes the world go round, and I want to make sure money is not a barrier for me and my ability to better improve myself and others around me.
