Bio

As a high school student on the STEM pathway, I am driven by a passion for discovery and innovation, working diligently toward an associate’s degree. Growing up as the youngest of three siblings in a family of six, I have been inspired by my older sister's resilience and achievements, learning the value of determination and hard work. My parents are immigrants, and their sacrifices and strong work ethic have empowered me to value education and perseverance. Having the support of my sister has motivated me to continue to push myself academically. Music is my sanctuary, a medium through which I channel my emotions and find the motivation to tackle academic challenges with renewed vigor. Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in clubs like Zero Waste, National Honors Society, Math Team, and Student Voice Committee. I’m also in the Collegiate Scholars Program at the University of Chicago. Balancing my responsibilities has been a formidable challenge, yet it has taught me invaluable lessons in time management and prioritization, skills that I continue to refine. These opportunities have not only shaped me into a determined, confident, and optimistic student but have also prepared me to pursue a future where I can contribute meaningfully to the fields of science and technology.

When I envision success, I picture a two story beige house with a white roof. I see four kids and a dog running happily around the yard while I sit on the porch beside my husband. In that moment, I feel at peace, knowing I have built a stable life filled with love and purpose. I also imagine a better world where communities have access to affordable renewable energy and everyone has an equal chance to succeed. To me, success is not measured only by wealth or fame. It is measured by the peace of knowing I have created stability for my family while using my skills to help others. Electrical engineering will give me the foundation to turn that vision into reality. Attending college has always been important to me, not only for the education it provides but also for the independence it represents. Growing up, my parents kept me in a very protective bubble. Because of this, I struggled to develop social confidence and learn how to interact comfortably with others. For much of my childhood, I felt unprepared for the social situations many of my peers handled easily. When I entered high school, I realized I needed to push myself outside of that comfort zone. Through group projects, conversations with classmates, and involvement in school activities, I slowly learned how to communicate more confidently and connect with others. Overcoming these challenges has strengthened my determination to attend college. College will allow me to continue developing independence while gaining the technical knowledge needed to pursue electrical engineering. It will also expose me to diverse perspectives and experiences. I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds because it helps me better understand how different communities experience the world. This understanding is essential to the work I hope to do in the future. If I want to design affordable renewable energy solutions that truly help communities, I need more than technical skills. I need the ability to understand the people who will rely on those technologies. College will give me both the academic knowledge and the real world perspective needed to design solutions that serve a wide range of communities. Ultimately, my goal is not only to build a successful career but also to create opportunities for others. Success, to me, means using the education and resources I gain to improve lives and expand access to essential technology. By attending college and pursuing electrical engineering, I hope to build a future that combines stability for my family with meaningful contributions to the world around me.
