Hi! My name is Catherine Grace Reuter. My goal is to be an RN in the pediatrics unit, as I love taking care of kids! I plan to attend a college that offers an excellent nursing program, but also provides a collegiate bowling program. I am the President of many organizations, including FCCLA, FFA, STUCO, 4-H, 4-H County Council, and Region 13 FCCLA. Along with these potions, I was also on the International Bowling Team, where I competed in the United Friendship Games and competed against other countries. I love getting my local organizations involved in giving back to our community.

Growing up, I was deeply influenced by my mother, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) working in a private practice. Watching her care for patients with kindness and professionalism made a lasting impression on me. From an early age, I realized that nursing is not just a career—it’s a way to make a real difference in people’s lives. This inspired my passion and solidified my decision to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Becoming an RN is more than a goal for me; it’s a calling to serve my community by providing compassionate, skilled care to those in need.
I am committed to becoming an RN because I want to be on the frontlines of healthcare, supporting patients through some of their most difficult moments. Nursing allows me to combine my passion for helping others with the opportunity to make a tangible impact on people’s health and well-being. As an RN, I will provide not only medical care but also emotional support and advocacy for my patients. I believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, especially when they are vulnerable. This desire to care for others and give back drives me every day as I work on applying to colleges.
Helping my community is at the heart of why I want to be a nurse. Beyond bedside care, I plan to actively engage in health education and outreach to empower people to take control of their own health. Educating individuals and families about disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and managing chronic conditions can prevent many health problems before they start. I am particularly passionate about working with children and underserved populations who often face barriers to accessing quality healthcare. These groups need dedicated advocates who understand their unique challenges and can provide compassionate support.
Giving back to my community has already been an important part of my life. Over the past several years, I have donated more than $200 to our local food bank, and I plan to expand my involvement by supporting other organizations that address social needs affecting health. I understand that good health is not only about treatment but also about addressing social factors like nutrition and access to resources. By supporting community initiatives, I can help create a healthier environment for everyone.
In the future, I hope to work in clinics or community health settings where I can provide care and education to those who need it most. I want to be part of a healthcare system that reaches beyond hospital walls to uplift entire communities. Becoming an RN will equip me with the knowledge and skills to make a meaningful difference, both at the bedside and through broader community efforts.
Ultimately, my goal is to serve my community as a compassionate nurse who not only treats illness but also inspires and empowers others to live healthier lives. Pursuing my BSN and becoming an RN is my way of giving back in the most meaningful way possible—by dedicating my life to caring for and improving the lives of those around me.
KC MedBridge Scholarship
If selected for this scholarship, I would use the funds to directly offset the costs of tuition for my college education. As a full-time student-athlete balancing academics, athletics, and community service, managing expenses is a significant consideration. The scholarship money would be allocated specifically to tuition fees, reducing the financial burden of higher education and minimizing the need for student loans.
By alleviating the pressure of mounting debt, this scholarship would allow me to focus more intently on my studies and extracurricular activities. With reduced financial stress, I can dedicate more time to excelling in my coursework, participating in clubs like 4-H, FCCLA, and FFA, and continuing my volunteer work with the Knights of Columbus and at the local food bank. This support would empower me to pursue my passion for nursing and mental health advocacy without the worry of crippling debt looming over my future.
Ultimately, this scholarship represents an investment in my potential to make a positive impact on my community and beyond. By providing financial assistance for my education, it enables me to continue my commitment to service, leadership, and academic excellence, ensuring that I can achieve my goals without being weighed down by excessive debt.

Hi, I'm Catherine Grace Reuter, and at 17, I'm already a Certified Nurse Assistant with certifications in CPR, BLS, and Mental Health. While certifications might seem like just pieces of paper, to me, they represent my commitment to supporting others, both physically and mentally. These aren't just credentials; they're a testament to my dedication to providing comprehensive care and support to those in need.
My passion for service shines through my involvement in clubs like 4-H, where we keep our community beautiful by adopting highways and cleaning up litter. This hands-on approach to environmental stewardship reflects my belief in the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy community. In FCCLA, my chapter helped clean up after a devastating tornado that left our town in shambles. Witnessing the destruction firsthand motivated me to take action and help rebuild our community. In FFA, I participate in 'Project Feeding Missouri,' where we pack meals for those struggling with food insecurity. Knowing we're helping families access nutritious meals is incredibly rewarding, especially during times of economic hardship. Other than those clubs, I am also extremely passionate about helping the elderly. Earlier, I stated that I am a CNA, which means I take care of those who are unable to care for themselves. Even though I do this as my job, I also volunteer my time with the Knights of Columbus, who host activities for the elderly. With all my time there, I have received the Youth Volunteer award twice consecutively. This recognition fuels my desire to continue making a positive impact on the lives of seniors in our community.
As I look ahead to college as a full-time student-athlete, financial support is a major consideration. I'm working hard to find scholarships, but additional help will likely be needed to keep debt at bay. Balancing academics, athletics, and community service requires careful planning and financial stability. While I am busy with schooling and working. I will be at the local food bank to serve my community. My commitment to serving others remains unwavering, even as I pursue my educational and athletic goals.
Finally, I'm deeply committed to protecting kids from bullying, both online and in person. As someone who has experienced bullying firsthand, I know how much it hurts when no one steps in. That's why I always stand up for others and offer my support, ensuring they know they're not alone. Drawing from my own experiences, I strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Other than my personal experience being bullied, I have also seen firsthand the damage it can do to those who are not helped in time. As I have had two friends unalive themselves because someone made them feel like they were less. At the time, they wouldn't communicate with others or hang out with anyone. At the time this happened, I was not capable of helping as I didn't know how to. Which is why I forced myself to become Mental Health Certified so I could see the warning signs and what to do to help. I never want to lose someone again because they didn't feel worthy enough to be here. Young or old, I now know how to approach those situations and help. This personal tragedy has fueled my passion for mental health advocacy and suicide prevention, inspiring me to make a difference in the lives of others.
