TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) MOA Scholarship
    1. I was actually a pre-debut casual fan and I remember seeing the articles and tweets dropping that Big Hit was getting a new boy group. I ended up really enjoying the Dream Chapter: Star. I became an official fan after a kpop hiatus when I was listening to a playlist of top kpop hits of the year and I came across a song that was so good that I had to hit pause and find out who the artist was. And to nobody’s surprise, it was Déjà vu by TXT, and the rest is history! 2. Some of the most important characteristics of a MOA are passion and integrity. When fans come together on social media and in person to support TXT during comebacks and we don’t always get the results we want at the music programs, we continue to encourage each other to keep going. MOAs are also a fanbase of integrity in that I really appreciate how fellow fans call out problematic behavior that people exhibit online such as transphobia, racism, and so forth. 3. My first bias when I was first getting into TXT was Taehyun. He would talk openly about his love for hip-hop, R&B, rap, and I was immediately drawn in. I also loved Taehyun’s wit and humor, his kindness, his cleverness and his intelligence, and how you can always count on him to keep it real. 4. My ult bias is probably Yeonjun. He has such amazing charisma, stage presence, is such a passionate hard worker, so very caring, intelligent, and just seems like a sweet soul. 5. One of my recent ult songs is Quarter Life because when I first read the lyrics, I felt like I could see myself reflected through them. Having growing pains has come with a lot of emotions and feelings of being lost. This song has been such a comfort, reminding me that I get to create my future. 6. I have not had the opportunity to see TXT in person even though I really wish that I could and have tried so hard to. I just have not been able to afford to see them in person. 7. My favorite album concept is the TSC: Tomorrow. It was bittersweet to see the conclusion to TXT’s beautiful lore end but I loved it. The color scheme, the font design, etc were amazing and witnessing their logo change for the first time was so fun. Reading the theories about the concept online was also so enjoyable. 8. I have been paying for school by myself through working a full-time job and some part time work, while being a full-time student. Things became even more tough when I lost my full-time job and hours got cut at my part time job as well. I eventually got laid off and so I have been in the job search and trying to sustain myself in the meantime. 9. This scholarship would be an incredible support in helping me to finish my degree and achieve this dream that I’ve had for myself since I was young. I don’t have a way to pay for this upcoming school year and have been applying for scholarships and grants to no avail. This scholarship would help me cover tuition and take the last courses that are needed to finish my degree. 10. TXT has reminded me of the beauty in feeling, in honoring grief and in living. Watching a live-streamed genocide in Gaza broke me. I almost became numb. TXT in big part helped me reconnect with my emotions. I then took my anger and went into my community to organize and help build the political power needed to create change. I’ve had the pleasure of working with a coalition of progressive organizations that fight for a better world. 11. I am a biomedical engineering master’s student and I am so excited to work in research and development in a MedTech company designing new medical devices. I also plan on getting involved with science education for marginalized communities. And of course, I plan to continue my work as a community and labor organizer, fighting to change public policy in this country and worldwide.
