Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship
One technology that inspires me to make the world a better place is solar power. Solar power has the means to transform the world to a better place. It can offer a sustainable, clean, and affordable energy solution that addresses some of the most important global challenges. As a renewable energy source, solar power uses the sun’s energy to generate electricity, and by doing so, reduces our reliance on fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas.
This shift is crucial in the fight against climate change, as burning fossil fuels contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. By transitioning to solar energy, we can reduce carbon emissions greatly and mitigate the effects of climate change which can create a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations.
One of the most interesting aspects of solar power is its accessibility. Unlike fossil fuels, which are often concentrated in specific regions, solar energy is abundant and available almost everywhere, making it a viable option for both developed and developing countries. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops in remote locations, which provides electricity to regions that are not connected to traditional power grids. This democratization of energy access can empower communities, improve quality of life, and boost economic opportunities by enabling access to light, education, healthcare, and technology.
This can lead to economic growth. As the technology improves and becomes more affordable, solar energy can create jobs in manufacturing and installation which can contribute to local economies. Solar energy is also becoming increasingly cost-effective, with many regions now seeing lower electricity bills after installing solar panels, making it a financially sustainable option in the long run.

I am an 18-year old female attending the University of Nevada, Reno. I graduated high school at the top of my class and an Associates of Science Degree through Dual-Enrollment. I am on the track to finish undergrad school at 20, and then apply straight into Med School. My goal in my career has always been to become a Physician or PA. Throughout my teenage years, I have had various chronic illnesses, some of which I still suffer from today, and it has made me very passionate for this path. I have been a patient that is referred from physician to physician, and put in different treatment plans that were not right for me, which made me feel extremely helpless. I want to be able to help those that feel helpless and use my experience as a patient and knowledge that I will gain throughout school to become a great contribution to the field. I have always been hard-working, all throughout my schooling, and the Medical field has always been something that fuels passion in me. As a PA, I will have the power to make a lasting impact on the world. Whether that is just one patient or multiple, I will still be leaving a positive influence on someone. The roles of providing care, diagnosing, treating, and guiding patients through their health challenges is something that is not easy, but appeals greatly to me.Being a source of hope and comfort is my goal. Allowing a patient to feel heard, offering empathy, and using my knowledge to explain a diagnosis clearly can make such a difference in a patient's medical journey. PA’s can be at the top of public health, and your voice can be heard throughout the medical community. Being able to influence change and decisions is such an honor. When working to prevent illness or formulating treatment plans, you can be actively shaping a healthier society. Obtaining a PhD will allow you open doors of opportunity such as teaching at universities, attending meetings, and teaching others of the knowledge that you have acquired over the years. As a PA, your work does not have to stop at your local office. Many around the world contribute to health efforts. I would love to one day provide care in underserved areas. I want to become a PA and succeed throughout my medical career so that one day I can impact the world and make a difference in people’s lives.
