One of my biggest life goals is to earn a master’s degree in forensic science after I complete my master’s in criminal justice. I’ve always been drawn to investigative work, and I want to build a strong foundation in both criminal justice and forensic analysis so I can pursue a career that truly challenges me. After that, I’m considering going into law school to expand my opportunities even further. Ultimately, my dream is to work for the FBI, where I can combine all my skills—investigation, forensic science, and legal knowledge—to make a real difference in solving complex cases and bringing justice to victims.

Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship
I am currently a graduate student at the University of Central Florida working toward my master’s degree in Criminal Justice. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and I have always been fascinated by the intersection between the human mind and the criminal justice system. My academic path has been shaped by my desire to understand human behavior, analyze patterns, and contribute to creating safer communities.
My interest in this field is also deeply personal. My father is a United States veteran, and I grew up witnessing the discipline, resilience, and service-minded attitude that military life instills. His experiences and sacrifices have inspired me to approach my own education and career goals with the same commitment to service. I have seen firsthand the value of protecting and serving others, and that sense of responsibility has been a driving force in my academic journey.
My ultimate goal is to continue my education by pursuing an additional master’s degree in a specialized forensic discipline or cybersecurity, and eventually enter a career in federal investigations, corporate security, or cyber threat analysis. These areas allow me to combine my skills in critical thinking, behavioral analysis, and research with my passion for problem-solving. I am particularly interested in the ways technology can be used to both commit and prevent crime, and how trained professionals can adapt to meet evolving threats.
This scholarship would provide a meaningful impact on my ability to reach these goals. As a military dependent, I have already benefitted from certain educational benefits, but those have now been fully used. Continuing my education without that support creates a financial challenge, especially as I work to balance graduate-level coursework with gaining relevant professional experience. This award would help ease that financial burden, allowing me to focus fully on my studies, participate in internships, and pursue professional certifications that will strengthen my qualifications.
Beyond personal benefit, this scholarship would help me continue working toward my long-term mission of contributing to a safer, more equitable justice system. I am committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in every environment I am part of, and I believe representation and understanding in law enforcement, security, and forensic work are critical to building trust between communities and the systems that protect them.
I view this opportunity not just as a financial resource, but as an investment in my ability to serve and protect others values that have been ingrained in me from my upbringing as the daughter of a veteran and the lessons I’ve carried throughout my education
