Scholarship Essay Giulia Nascimento Throughout my four years in high school, I have come to gain so much knowledge, experience and opportunities that allowed me to further explore my identity and interests. Being in the Engineering Academy has helped me strengthen my critical thinking skills, as well as broaden my knowledge which allowed me to become more flexible to different ideas and be more open-minded to new changes. Having taken college prep math and writing courses in high school will help ease my way into college, and provide confidence and balance to be better prepared in the near future. Being a member of the Key Club at RBR has helped me build many skills such as teamwork, leadership, and confidence. While being a part of this great organization, I have been able to build many relationships and meet amazing people. It has also brought me great satisfaction from helping others and giving back to the community. I've been taught the importance of always respecting and providing a hand for those in need of support because you never know what that person is going through. During my senior year, I became an STS Peer Leader to help guide the incoming freshman, especially during this difficult time. Being a role model for them has expanded my leadership style, communicative skills and self awareness. This scholarship along with other financial aid will help raise my ambition and determination to get a business degree. This scholarship would give me a boost in my confidence to be successful in college and persistently aim for my objectives. This will be one step closer to meeting my future career goal of owning my own bakery business and helping to give back to my parents for everything they have done for me. Along with my business major, I plan on participating in the culinary program so that I can build a foundation and gain more knowledge about pastry. I have great passion for cooking, especially baking for my family and friends. My cultural perspective has taught me so much about cooking and its role in my life. It has helped me express my cultural identity in foreign places and at the same time preserve it so that it always makes me feel at home alongside my family. Watching them enjoy my food boosts my self-esteem and determination to challenge myself even further and learn more. I hope that through my food, I can bring that home feeling to the people.
