My name is Gina Knox, and I am a 32 year old college junior who this far has taken a nontraditional, highly experiential, interdisciplinary approach to learning. In the Spring of 22’ at the age of 31 I returned to college as a Junior at Old Dominion University and this Spring (23') I will reach my senior year of my Bachelor in Science.
My initial experience with college began right out of high-school and I struggled. I struggled to juggle a life of paying bills without assistance, working long hours for low wages, and attempting in person college courses that were not a social fit for my learning style or personality. Now at 32 I have completed an 8-year Army Reserve contract, reached 11 years of professional experience, and have taken multiple approaches to learning through art, exploration, and technology. I am so excited to finish my first degree in pursuit of encouraging young scholars to get excited about education and the many pathways to personal growth and development no matter how difficult the road ahead of them may seem at the time.
My dream is to tell stories that are engaging, educational, and even magical, blending new and emerging technologies with storytelling to educate and encourage generations to come in the adventures of geographic exploration, the outdoors, and technology. I want to demonstrate the many pathways to success for the next generation.
I am committed to seeing underrepresented youth to a path of wellness where their dreams and voices are heard, assisting in the facilitation of turning dreams to reality.
