Bold Financial Freedom Scholarship
My therapist asked me what the appropriate response to being sad would be and apparently retail therapy was NOT the correct answer! Spending money emotionally is an easy way to put a dent in one’s bank account. Retail therapy can provide short-term happiness, provide a negative impact on financials, and solve an issue that could be solved in a number of ways.
Retail therapy is an action triggered by emotions rather than needs. I once had a bad day at work and as most would, I left and got a full body massage! It seemed like a perfect solution but I still had to work the next day and had missed out on half a day of pay. Spending money to avoid situations can be a great way to cause one to feel good for a short period of time, but it can really affect one’s bank account
Times are hard and prices are rising. Is a late fee on rent really worth a girls trip to florida, boys night out, or a new wardrobe that is now “trendy”. It’s always good to splurge, as long as priorities are put first.
There are plenty of other ways that don’t involve buying Starbucks at any minor inconvenience to boost one’s mood; it could be cleaning the apartment that rent was on time for this month, because shopping at the mall didn’t happen six out of the seven days last week!
Spending money emotionally is an easy, consequential thing to do. It’s exciting to buy a new top that looks similar to the one Kim Kardashian had on her insta, but gas is expensive, rent needs to be paid, and there are so many other ways to fuel good emotions. It’s the difference between wants and needs that is easily forgotten.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
You in english is tú in spanish. Uno reverse back into english and you get to. To attend college, one must live in debt unless generous sources provide them with the money raised off of tweets written by Elon Musk. Elon Musk has eight letters in his name. The word “academic” also has eight letters. To succeed in my academic career, I must win the scholarship for “wrong answers only.”
My career goal is to be in Kris Jenner’s shoes. Kris Jenner is a business mogol. She’s sixty-six and parties like she’s twenty-one, loves cooking, and believes that shopping at Costco is the equivalent to getting a massage. Kris wears a size nine shoe; however, I wear a size eight. Being in Kris’s shoes is impossible so instead I would like to be a flight attendant and travel the world.
When doing an obstacle course, one must be fast. Throughout my highschool years I participated in cross-country and track. I was not fast; however, I did have good endurance. I won a medal every meet and placed in our NTC tournament every year. In terms of an obstacle course, they are usually a shorter distance and I would probably lose. I will still have participated and that is what counts.
Bold Optimist Scholarship
I believe I have found the definition of success. To find my purpose, my success, I needed to find happiness. Marcus Auraleus wrote, “the happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.” I feel as though my work ethic, my life at home, and my presence in other’s lives has helped me to grow and gain purpose.
Some things that make me happy include: being a daughter to my amazing, hardworking mother; being a friend to such loving, supportive friends; being an aunt to seven intelligent children; being a sister to eight goofy siblings; and spending my last year employed at a lumber mill with such hardworking people. It can be the smallest things that are taken for granted.
With happiness comes personal growth. I have gained so much support and respect from friends and peers. I have learned that it does not take a six digit salary, a three story building, or an expensive car to feel successful.
Finding my definition of success has been an accomplishment, but also a challenge. Growing up, paying bills, having less contact with family and friends, working full time, and seeing the real world are all difficult tasks. I have challenged myself with academics, extra work hours, and busy days. The difficulties of juggling all these events at once make me happy. I do fail at times, but this is how I grow. When I conquer a challenge I see who I am capable of becoming.
This achievement of defining success has taught me how to take these challenges and still find the good in things. Happiness has caused me to grow, drive, conquer challenges, and find my purpose. It has pushed me to work harder during everyday events. I have obtained a drive for gaining my success.
