This scholarship would make a life-changing difference for my family and me. This fall, I will be attending Howard University, my dream school. Even with financial aid, I still have about $22,000 left to cover for my freshman-year tuition, so this scholarship would help chip away at that balance and bring me one step closer to starting college with less financial stress.
Howard University means so much to me because it is one of the most prestigious HBCUs in the country and a place filled with community, culture, and endless opportunities. I know I belong there. From elementary school through 12th grade, I have earned first honors every marking period, which has advanced me to advanced honors classes and helped me finish at the top of my classes. I am excited to be surrounded by students who are just as driven and hardworking as I am, because I know that environment will challenge me to grow and succeed.
My goal is to become a pediatric travel nurse. I chose this path because I want to help children, especially those from under-resourced communities. Kids deserve to feel safe and cared for, no matter their situation. As a nurse, I’ll be able to support them not just physically, but emotionally too. I think that’s really important, especially for children who may already be dealing with difficult circumstances.
My education at Howard will help me continue giving back in bigger ways. I plan to get involved in community outreach programs and volunteer opportunities while I’m in college. I also want to take part in mentorship programs so I can continue guiding younger students who might feel like they don’t have direction. Being at a school like Howard, surrounded by people who are also motivated to make a difference, will push me to grow and do more.
In the future, I want to come back and give back to communities like mine. As a pediatric travel nurse, I hope to work in places that don’t have enough healthcare resources. I also want to speak to kids and share my story so they can see that it’s possible to make it out of tough situations. I want them to understand that their environment and childhood don’t determine who they will become. They have the power to choose their own path.
Overall, my experiences have taught me the importance of helping others and staying connected to where I come from. Giving back isn’t just something I do, it’s something that’s a part of who I am. As I continue my education and move forward in life, I plan to keep supporting my community, inspiring others, and doing my part to make the world a better place.

This fall, I will be attending Howard University to study nursing. My goal is to become a pediatric travel nurse. I want to work with children in different communities, helping them heal while also bringing comfort to their families. Traveling will allow me to gain new experiences, learn from different healthcare environments, and grow both personally and professionally. I also hope to use my career to support my family, who have struggled for years, and give back to them for everything they have done for me. Making them proud is one of my biggest motivations.

My passion for nursing comes from my love for helping others, especially children. Ever since I was young, I’ve always been the person who wanted to comfort others and make them feel better during difficult times. Seeing how much a small act of kindness can brighten someone’s day inspired me to pursue a career where I can make a real difference. Nursing gives me the opportunity to combine compassion with skill, and that is something I truly value.

Looking beyond college, I am committed to returning to communities like the one I grew up in. As a pediatric travel nurse, I hope to work in areas that lack adequate healthcare access, providing care to children who need it most. I also want to create mentorship programs for youth, especially those who feel trapped by their environment. I want them to see that their future is not limited by their surroundings. I will share my story, not for recognition, but to show them that it is possible to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
Growing up in Philadelphia, I didn’t always see many examples of people making it out of my neighborhood and going on to do something bigger. I come from a low-income community where a lot of people struggle, and it can sometimes feel like your future is already decided for you. But over time, I realized that your environment doesn’t have to define who you become. That belief is what pushed me to give back to my community and to try to be someone younger kids can look up to.

By doing so, they can not only change their own lives but also contribute to building stronger, more inclusive communities.
My journey has taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of giving back. I am not just pursuing a career, I am pursuing a purpose: to make a difference, to give back, and to remind others that where you come from does not limit where you can go.

Scorenavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship
Growing up, I learned early that financial education is about much more than simply saving money. It is about understanding responsibility, independence, and how the decisions we make today can affect our future. Watching the people around me work hard to provide for their families inspired me to think seriously about my own goals and career path. Their sacrifices motivated me to become financially responsible at a young age and pushed me to create opportunities for myself instead of waiting for them to come to me.
One of the biggest steps I took toward financial independence was starting my own eyelash extension business. I wanted to provide a luxury experience at an affordable price because I believe everyone deserves to feel confident without having to overspend. Owning a business has taught me lessons that extend far beyond beauty services. I learned how to budget for supplies, manage appointments, market my services, communicate professionally with clients, and save money for future goals. There were moments where I had to make difficult financial decisions, but those experiences helped me become more disciplined, organized, and determined. Running my business showed me the importance of financial literacy because every dollar earned or spent directly affects growth and success.
This fall, I will be attending Howard University, where I plan to continue building the knowledge and skills needed to create a successful future for myself. I aspire to become a pediatric travel nurse because I want to care for children while also exploring different communities and healthcare environments. Nursing is a career that requires compassion, dedication, and strong decision-making skills, and I know financial literacy will play an important role in helping me succeed personally and professionally.
As I continue my education and career journey, I also hope to give back to the youth in my community. I want to mentor young students and encourage them to pursue education, financial independence, and careers they are passionate about. I understand how important guidance and support can be, especially for young people trying to build a future for themselves.
The lessons I continue learning about finances will help me make smarter decisions in the future. I plan to use financial education to manage college expenses wisely, grow my business further, invest in my future, and create long-term stability for myself and my family. To me, financial literacy is not only about money, it is about creating opportunities, building confidence, and turning dreams into reality.
Evan James Vaillancourt Memorial Scholarship
I still remember the time I volunteered at a community event when I was in ninth grade. I was helping organize activities for children. One little girl clung to me the afternoon because she was scared to join the others. By the end of the day she was. Playing and confidently introducing herself to new friends. That moment stayed with me. It showed me how much of a difference care and patience and encouragement can make in a childs life.. It is a big part of why I want to become a pediatric travel nurse.
My career goal is to work as a travel nurse. I want to provide care to children in communities. Especially those who may not always have access to healthcare or emotional support. I want to combine my passion for helping others with my desire to experience environments. This will allow me to grow not as a nurse but also as a person. Working with children is especially meaningful to me. They are often the most vulnerable. The most resilient. I want to be someone who makes them feel safe and heard and cared for during moments in their lives.
Since grade I have been actively involved in volunteer programs in my community. Through these experiences I have learned the importance of showing up and being dependable and offering kindness without expecting anything in return. Volunteering has allowed me to connect with people from backgrounds. I have better understood the challenges that many families face. These lessons will carry over into my nursing career. Empathy and compassion are just as important as knowledge in pediatric travel nursing.
As a travel nurse I plan to give back to my community. I want to organize events and programs for children who may need support. This could be health education workshops or community outreach programs. Simply spending time mentoring young people. I want to be involved beyond the hospital setting. I hope to create spaces where children feel encouraged and motivated. Especially those who may be growing up in circumstances to my own.
I also want to serve as a role model for youth. Growing up I learned how powerful it can be to have someone believe in you. I want to pass that encouragement on to others. By sharing my story and experiences I hope to inspire people to follow their dreams. I want them to understand that no matter where they come from they have the ability to achieve their goals if they stay focused and committed.
Ultimately my goal as a pediatric travel nurse is not to care for children physically but also to support them emotionally and inspire them to believe in their future. Through my work and continued involvement in my community I am determined to make a difference. One child, one family and one connection, at a time. I want to make a difference in the lives of children and families as a travel nurse.

The time I sat in a hospital room with my little cousin I didn't know what to do. She was nervous and scared holding onto my hand. There were machines beeping around us. I felt just as helpless as she did.. Then a pediatric nurse came in and completely changed everything. She spoke softly. Made my cousin laugh. She explained things in a way that didn't feel overwhelming. Watching that moment made me realize how much of a difference one caring person can make for a child.
That experience stuck with me. It's a part of why I want to be a nurse. One thing that really bothers me is that some people can't get healthcare. This is especially true for kids in communities that don't have resources. I've seen families avoid going to the doctor because its too expensive. They also don't feel like they're being heard or respected. Kids suffer the most in these situations. I want to help change that, even if its a little bit.
This fall I'm going to attend Howard University to study nursing. For me this is more than a career. It's my purpose. I want to be a pediatric travel nurse. I want to work in places and help communities that need medical help. I like the idea of going where I'm needed most. This could be a city hospital or a small clinic that doesn't have enough staff. I know it won't be easy. I'm ready for the challenge.
I also want to connect with patients and their families. I don't just want to treat them. A lot of times people just need someone to listen and explain things clearly. As a nurse I want to be that person. I want kids to feel less scared and parents to feel more confident about their childs care. Just being patient or offering encouragement can make a difference.
In school I've tried to build qualities that I know I'll need as a nurse. These include patience, responsibility and empathy. I've helped classmates and younger students. I've learned that small actions can make a difference. Making a difference doesn't always mean doing something. It can be as simple as being for someone.
I know I still have a lot to learn.. I'm excited to keep growing. My goal is to use my education and passion for helping others. I want to make healthcare feel more human and accessible. I may not be able to fix every problem.. If I can make one child feel safer and more comfortable then I know I'm, on the right path.
