      Neal Hartl Memorial Sales/Marketing Scholarship
In the maze of career options, I stumbled upon a path that resonated deeply with me—sales and marketing. It wasn't a calculated decision but rather a natural progression sparked by my love for automation and fueled by my experiences with nonprofits and game-changing politicians. This essay dives into why I'm so jazzed about diving into sales and marketing, beyond just making sales—it's about selling ideas and making our world a better place. My journey into the world of sales and marketing wasn't planned. I found myself getting more and more interested as I worked, especially loving the combination of tech and sales. The idea of using technology to make things smoother, faster, and better really clicked with me. It's that mix of innovation and strategy that really gets me going. But it was my time working alongside nonprofits and politicians making waves that really sealed the deal for me. Seeing how persuasion, storytelling, and good communication could rally support for a cause, get resources moving for a project, or push for policy changes—it was eye-opening. I realized that sales and marketing aren't just about buying and selling stuff; they're tools for selling ideas, shaping opinions, and moving society forward. What hit me the hardest was understanding that sales and marketing aren't just about business transactions; they're about selling visions and making them a reality. Whether it's pushing for cleaner energy to fight climate change, fighting for fairness and justice, or pushing for better education, sales and marketing are the keys to making it all happen. My drive for sales and marketing isn't just about making a paycheck; it's about making a difference. I want to be part of something bigger, to be a voice for change, and to stand up for things that matter. That's what keeps me going, what pushes me to work hard, and what makes me excited to jump into this field. In a nutshell, my journey into sales and marketing has been an adventure, sparked by my passion for automation and fueled by my time with nonprofits and change-makers. I'm not in it just for the money; I'm in it to make an impact, to shake things up, and to leave the world a little better than I found it. As I dive into this path, I'm ready to use sales and marketing to drive positive change, spark innovation, and leave my mark on the world. I am hoping to earn my Associate in Business at Cascadia College and progress to my Bachelors in Business with a minor in political science in order to accomplish my dream of using marketing and sales to make real changes in our country.

Recovery is everything to me. I've battled addiction since my early teens, but it wasn't until I hit twenty-two that I finally chose the path of recovery. In the past two years, I've managed to wipe out $35,000 in addiction-related debt, set up my own place, and rebuild my career from scratch. None of this would've been possible without my recovery program, sponsor, and my NA connections. To me, recovery isn't just about getting healthy; it's about reclaiming hope for the future. Before recovery, I was drowning in hopelessness, praying for an end every day. But now, I wake up choosing life. It's given me the push to move forward, heal, and thrive. My recovery journey has even sparked a passion for politics as I dream of changing policies around addiction to ensure others get the support they need. I owe everything good in my life to my recovery, and I'll forever be grateful for the strength I found two years ago when I said, "Enough." Sure, every day's a struggle as I piece together my past. But my recovery's what keeps me going, inspiring me to provide for my family, and motivating me to keep moving forward and help others find the same joy I have.
