    Bold Fuel Your Life Scholarship
I have always had a passion for helping others and have worked in patient care for nearly 13 years. It brings joy to my heart to be able to care for others when they need it the most. I currently am working as a patient care associate or PCA and wish to further my education and become a registered nurse or RN. As a child, I've always looked up to my aunt, who is currently a nurse practitioner. Growing up I would follow her and take mental notes of how she cared for others. When my grandfather became ill, I was able to see her true nursing skills come out and assist her in some of the tasks. This is where my love for the profession really blossomed. She has always been enthusiastic about her nursing career and began to teach me simple nursing skills in a way that not only I understood, but was actually interested in. I still use these skills to this day as a PCA and only hope to further my skills as an RN. I truly believe her method of teaching really grew my love for the profession and all of the knowledge nurses can hold. She will always be my role model and motivation for completing the program. I am enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Broward College and although it is challenging, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and know that with the right resources I will be able to complete everything I set my heart out to do.  As a full time student, patient care associate, and mother of two, it can be difficult to not only keep up with all I have on my plate, but to afford the necessary materials needed to complete an Associate degree in nursing.

As a full time student, patient care associate, and mother of two, it can be difficult to not only keep up with all I have on my plate, but to afford the necessary materials needed to complete an Associate degree in nursing. Due to the rigorous study hours and required weekly clinical hours, it has become difficult to work my usual 36-40 hours per week in the hospital. This has caused me to use a lot of my paid vacation days just to be able to attend the required in-person hours. Between the textbooks, uniforms, and computer programs required to complete the degree, it has become difficult for me to provide for my family as well as afford these materials. Being awarded with this scholarship would be an enormous help in lifting some of the financial burden that being in the nursing program has brought on and will be much appreciated.
