Augustus L. Harper Scholarship
Education is crucial as it not only equips individuals with the knowledge and skills for personal and professional success but also empowers them to positively impact their communities and contribute to the creation of a more equal and promising future.
My hopes and objectives for the future are clear as I pursue a career in finance as a sophomore in college. I am motivated by my love of finance (math), my desire to give back to my community, and my ambition to pay off my college loans. The possibility of getting this scholarship would considerably aid in the accomplishment of my goals and have a good influence on my future path. First and foremost, my love for finance inspires my desire to succeed in it. Being a second-year student at the University of Miami, (Miami Herbert Business School) has taught me how to professionally network and how to create a successful career plan. Being able to be around like-minded and success-driven people is the most valuable lesson my education at this university has taught me.
I strive to have a significant influence through my precise attention to detail, analytical abilities, and sincere curiosity in learning about the complexities of the financial world. However, a huge barrier to my achievement is the rising cost of inflation and college tuition.
With the financial support from this scholarship, I would be able to pay off some of the onerous student loans I have accumulated and concentrate more on my academic and professional development. Second, I fully believe in the value of supporting my neighborhood. I have personally seen the transformational effects of community support through volunteer work and involvement with local groups. The demands of juggling student loans and college costs, however, frequently prevent me from making as big of a contribution as I would like. In addition to allowing me to pursue my academic objectives with fewer financial concerns, the financial respite provided by this scholarship would also enable me to devote more time and money to giving back to my community. Therefore, this scholarship would help me shape my future. It would lessen the financial load of my school loans, enabling me to devote more time to studying and pursuing a job in finance.
Additionally, it would enable me to actively participate in community service, allowing me to significantly improve the lives of others. I greatly anticipate the chance to contribute to society's advancement while pursuing my objectives in the field of finance with true gratitude and a commitment to unwavering excellence. My ultimate goal is to start scholarships for people in need once I've succeeded and paid off my student loans. I want to start a positive change by providing people with educational opportunities that will allow them to break down barriers and achieve their own goals. For those who are struggling financially, I want to create scholarships and budget plans to relieve the stress component of financial struggle, guaranteeing that eligible people can access chances and high-quality education. I want to start a positive change by providing people with educational opportunities that will allow them to break down barriers and achieve their own goals. I want to empower underprivileged students and promote a more equal society by offering scholarships. I firmly believe that spending money on education is an investment in a better future for people, their families, and their communities—an impact that will last for future generations.

Fall Favs: A Starbucks Stan Scholarship
The Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte as a Beacon of Comfort in the Finance Student's Fall Narrative
As a full-time second-year finance student at the University of Miami, where the demands of academia and work converge into a whirlwind of responsibilities, one particular fall-inspired drink from Starbucks has etched itself into the narrative of my autumn days - the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte. This velvety concoction has become more than just a beverage; it is a character, a companion that adds a touch of warmth and comfort to the rigorous routine of studying eight hours a day in the library.
The Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte, a harmonious marriage of chai's robustness and the comforting embrace of pumpkin spice, is more than a seasonal indulgence. It is a respite, a momentary escape from the complexities of finance textbooks and the hustle of a part-time job. Amidst the hallowed halls of the library, this beverage transforms into a symbol of solace, a small yet significant something to look forward to during the intense study sessions.
The aroma of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg that wafts from the steaming cup is a precursor to the sensory delight that follows. As I delve into the intricate world of financial models and economic theories, the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte becomes a catalyst for concentration, infusing the air with a comforting ambiance that alleviates the stress of complex calculations and intricate problem-solving.
Studying finance requires discipline, and the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte serves as a reward, a brief interlude that breaks the monotony of numerical analyses and financial projections. It is during these moments, sipping on the rich, spiced latte, that I find a renewed sense of energy and focus to navigate the intricacies of my coursework and double minors.
Moreover, this Starbucks creation has become a marker of time, signaling the transition from the warm days of early fall to the crispness of late autumn. It is a constant, a familiar face in the sea of changing seasons, providing a sense of continuity in the dynamic world of academia and work.
Beyond its gustatory pleasures, the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte serves as a symbol of self-care in the life of a busy finance student. It's a reminder that, amid the numbers and deadlines, taking a moment for oneself is not only acceptable but crucial for maintaining balance and well-being.
In conclusion, the Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte has seamlessly integrated itself into the narrative of my fall as a second-year finance student. It is more than a drink; it's a character, a comforting presence that turns the long hours in the library into moments of solace and anticipation. As I navigate the complexities of my academic journey and professional responsibilities, this fall-inspired beverage stands as a testament to the idea that sometimes, in the midst of a hectic life, a small indulgence can make all the difference.

Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
My life has been a rollercoaster of difficulties and challenges even at the youthful age of 19. Growing up with an immigrant father and battling several autoimmune conditions gave me a drive to tackle every challenge in my way. Early on, I developed an entrepreneurial mindset that motivated me to overcome the many challenges life threw my way in order to succeed in creating a fulfilling profession. But in addition to my desire to succeed, I also had to deal with the terrifying effects of mental illness brought on by my lupus struggles, in-depth medical testing, incorrect diagnoses, unfavorable experiences, and the constant fight-or-flight response affecting my nervous system.
Multiple autoimmune disorders have taught me to be tenacious and strong beyond my years. I developed coping mechanisms for my health issues' unpredictability and persisted in my determination to have a meaningful life. My viewpoint was greatly influenced by my father's immigrant upbringing. His unyielding resolve and work ethic in the face of difficulty gave me the conviction that anything is attainable with dedication and effort.
I developed an entrepreneurial attitude early on and discovered my affinity for creating possibilities and finding solutions to issues. I was eager to realize my dreams despite my health issues. I used my creativity and inventiveness to my advantage as I looked for methods to develop a job that complemented my goals.
With this perspective, I was able to perceive possibilities where others saw barriers, which helped me advance on the path to success.
The road to victory, though, was anything but easy. Fighting serious health problems necessitated numerous hospital stays and in-depth diagnostic procedures. The load was only increased by having to deal with my diagnosis in reality and running into misdiagnoses. Bullies and negative people made my problems even worse, making me feel alone and dejected. My mental health suffered greatly as a result.
My spirit was deeply burdened by despair and anxiety, which were constant companions. I started to overthink a lot as I started to doubt my worth and ability. Chronic stress brought on the fight-or-flight reaction, which exacerbated my mental instability and left me feeling alert and worn out all the time. But even in the depths of my difficulties, I discovered fortitude. I sought help from family members, doctors, and mental health services to face my mental health issues head-on. I gained coping skills to express my emotions through therapy.
I learned the power of self-compassion and self-care through my darkest times. Embracing self-love enabled me to confront negative thoughts and reorient my attention toward recovery and development. I came to understand that admitting my vulnerability was a sign of strength rather than weakness I eventually discovered how to view my experiences as teachings rather than failures.
But even in the depths of my difficulties, I discovered fortitude. I sought assistance from family members, doctors, and mental health resources. Every difficulty I encountered evolved into a chance for me to develop, learn, and encourage others on their journeys. I want to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness and foster a more compassionate society by sharing my story and speaking up for mental health awareness.
I'm motivated to keep moving forward with resiliency and hope as I negotiate the intricate intersection of entrepreneurship, health issues, and mental health. All of my teenage years were spent in doctors offices, hospitals, and constant worrying about my health. Anxiety has been a struggle for me, and still is. I hope to help others cope one day, the same way my therapist has taught me.

Joanne Pransky Celebration of Women in Robotics
The world had come to a turning point in the not too distant future, welcoming a new era propelled by cutting-edge robotics. Humanity suddenly found itself confronted with immeasurable difficulties and limitless prospects, ushering in a surge of transformation in a variety of fields, including community participation, corporate finance, and the medical field.
Medical robots has let medicine, which was traditionally constrained by human constraints, soar to great heights. Robots that can perform precise operations with less invasiveness have transformed patient care by speeding up recovery and boosting success rates. As formerly thought-to-be incurable diseases were now cured, hospitals became hubs of invention and hope. But the difficulties were significant. Fearing a loss of the human touch in healthcare, skepticism was present among the general people.
The management and accountability of robotic systems have given rise to ethical conundrums. However, as medical robotics advanced, the world had to acknowledge the enormous potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning, opening the door to a healthier future.
Robotic developments in corporate finance brought both benefits and difficulties. Robo-advisors, which offer affordable and effective financial guidance, have become a dominant force in the world of investments. These automated technologies' accessibility enabled the typical investor to confidently negotiate complex markets. But achieving a balance between human intuition and machine accuracy was a hurdle. The key to success emerges as the marriage of human intuition with machine analysis.
The key to realizing the full potential of the digital age was to embrace robotics' potential while preserving a human touch.
Robotics enabled philanthropy and community engagement, which led to a rebirth of compassion in charitable giving. Autonomous drone-operated food banks provided emergency help by quickly distributing essentials to isolated areas. Robots with human features and empathic algorithms volunteered in nursing homes to provide companionship and care for the elderly. The use of robotics in community work, however, has drawn criticism from some who worry that it would distance people from real human interaction. Making sure that robots remained tools in the effort to create a better world rather than replacements posed a hurdle.
Collaboration was necessary to take advantage of robotics' potential while addressing its problems. To protect ethics, privacy, and inclusion, governments, business executives, and the general public needed to collaborate to adopt strict restrictions.
As humanity embraced the coming robotic revolution, it underwent a change unlike any other. Robotics' potential was formerly questioned, but now the world sees it as a force for advancement that is advancing medicine, empowering women financially, and increasing social compassion. In a world where robotics and humanity marched together toward a future that honored both obstacles and opportunities, the future lay in embracing the duality of innovation and empathy. It was a journey that required careful balancing; it was a journey.
Robotics will soon present a wealth of opportunities for helping those with life-limiting illnesses. Exoskeletons and advanced robotic prosthetics can help people with physical disabilities regain their freedom, mobility, and quality of life. Greater precision and improved patient outcomes are guaranteed by robotically assisted procedures. But there might be issues with the cost and accessibility of sophisticated robotic technologies, as well as issues with the incorporation of robotics into healthcare institutions. Achieving a balance between human care and robotic help may provide ethical challenges. To fully utilize medical robotics, it will be essential to provide strong laws, solve privacy and security concerns, and promote diversity.

Everything I ever need remains in my grandfather's suitcase. There was never a shortage of surprises from my homeland: Trinidad and Tobago. Novelties like shells and pebbles taught me how the sea shaped the land, and how the land provided an opportunity to forge a unique life. My grandfather's storytelling through little gifts molded me into the kindhearted and determined woman I am today. My grandfather spent most of his career working for an oil refinery. Unfortunately, early-onset Parkinson's Disease caused him to retire prematurely. Yet, he remained positive and used his newfound free time to enjoy precious moments with his wife, children, and community. But, as the years progressed, I slowly watched him transform. The last time I saw him he said to me, “with education and perseverance, you will accomplish all your beautiful dreams in the States.” That next visit would never come.
In December 2019, everything changed. I was on my way to school when I suddenly came down with a high fever. In the days that followed, my condition worsened, and I panicked. My grandfather told me to stay strong. Ultimately, I collapsed and spent ten days in the hospital. Some doctors believed I had cancer. Many treatments did not work. I endured extensive imaging, labs, and biopsies. My quality of life worsened drastically. Finally, a new rheumatologist took my case. She correctly diagnosed me with multiple autoimmune diseases and initiated the appropriate treatment. However, this treatment suppressed my immune system, and I was advised to limit my exposure only to individuals at home. I asked myself “why me” but remained optimistic. I commenced homebound tutoring, but social isolation swiftly overcame me. Three months later, COVID-19 caused a widespread lockdown. My friends did not adjust well, so I comforted them. I wanted to do more for my suffering classmates. Remembering my grandfather’s lessons, I did not want my illness to limit me, and I used it to propel me forward. I presented a club idea to my school named “Kindness Through Crisis.” Students could virtually share their struggles and support each other. Sadly, I started losing hope in the club’s formation due to strict school policies. I consulted my grandfather. His response was to make it a reality, no matter the obstacles. I persisted, and the school finally approved my club.
My grandfather was extremely proud. On October 28, 2020, my grandfather passed away after battling Parkinson’s for 18 long years. Due to closed borders, my family virtually attended his funeral; I felt as if there was no closure. Then, I recalled the very last time he visited. He left behind a suitcase. It was filled with old scout badges, coins, and other mementos. Before putting the suitcase away, I checked it one more time. Something heavy was resting at the bottom: a compass. I thought, “I still have Grandpa’s compass.” His words resonate in my head, “Try again. Never give up.” He believed I had the tenacity to accomplish my dreams. As COVID cases continued to rise, I used my spare time to assist the less fortunate. I started mass campaigns on social media to help people schedule appointments for themselves and their families. I was able to help over 236 people secure appointments. I aspire to pursue a career in finance with a philanthropic focus. I want to provide visionaries with their own compass, much like my grandpa did for me. I plan on continuing volunteering and helping my community.

Charles Pulling Sr. Memorial Scholarship
I'm a college student who is 19 years old, and my path through education has been anything but traditional. I was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 16, an autoimmune condition that has presented me with many difficulties in completing my studies. In addition, I've worked hard to succeed in both banking and real estate because of the values of community service and a strong work ethic that my immigrant father instilled in me as a child. Despite obstacles and numerous hospitalizations due to my autoimmune disease, my unwavering strength in my will to go above and beyond the norm and pursue excellence in all facets of my life outdo my struggles.
At the youthful age of 16, I received a lupus diagnosis, which changed the course of my life. I decided to overcome the disease's limits rather than give in to its physical and emotional effects. I frequently confront particular challenges that my peers might not experience since I am a non-traditional student. Planning meticulously, resiliency, and unshakable resolve are required to manage my health while balancing academic responsibilities. But being a non-traditional student has helped me become more adaptable, kind, and grateful for the opportunities that come my way.
I've learned the value of self-care through living with lupus, both physically and mentally. I have persevered in my academic goals in the face of difficulties. I've asked for help when I've needed it, whether from professors, academic advisors, or other students, and I've developed a solid support system to help me get through the challenges of college life. My tenacity and willpower have propelled me to achieve academic and professional success.
My character has been permanently shaped by having a father who was an immigrant and who valued community service. I have absorbed similar principles and a passion for having a positive impact on others after seeing his dedication to service and diligence. In addition to my aim for professional success, I am also motivated by a desire to give back to my community and assist those in need as I seek a career in finance and real estate.
My motivation to work harder is fueled by the combination of my own experiences as a non-traditional student, my triumph over hardship, and the values established by my immigrant father. I think it's important to establish high standards for yourself and work hard to meet them. My ambition to improve my future and offer possibilities to others is what fuels my enthusiasm for finance and real estate.
As a non-traditional student, my path has been formed by my tenacity, perseverance, and my father's constant support. Despite the difficulties caused by lupus, I am unwavering in my quest for greatness in my academic studies and professional endeavors. I am motivated by a desire to give back to my community, and I hope that my work in finance and real estate will have a positive effect on other people's lives. I am dedicated to overcoming obstacles, succeeding, and leaving a long-lasting legacy of tenacity and compassion while embracing my non-traditional student identity.

As someone who was born into a Trinidadian immigrant family, I have had to overcome many obstacles throughout my life. I also cope with the challenges presented by lupus, an autoimmune condition, which further complicates things. But despite these challenges, I am still determined to pursue a career in the corporate world, specifically, finance. I believe that with the aid of financial resources, I can improve my own life and subsequently have a beneficial influence on others.
I developed a strong work ethic, perseverance, and determination as a result of growing up in an immigrant home. I have seen my parents' unrelenting commitment to giving our family a better life. My opinion on the importance of education and financial security has been formed by their sacrifices. I am pursuing a career in finance as a 19-year-old college student to realize my goals of achieving financial success and independence. My route to reaching my goals has been made more difficult by having lupus. I have to negotiate the complexities of managing my health while balancing academic duties because I have a chronic autoimmune disease. But I won't let lupus set boundaries for me. Instead, it has acted as a catalyst for my own personal development, resilience, and empathy for others going through comparable struggles.
If given financial support, I would carefully choose how to use the money to improve my life. I would first save aside some money for my college tuition and other costs. I can concentrate on my studies if student loan debt is reduced. I would be able to take full advantage of internship possibilities, participate actively in my classes, and get important finance-related experience. I would also spend money on my own professional and personal growth. By going to workshops, conferences, and networking functions, I could expand my expertise and make useful contacts in the banking sector. Additionally, I would utilize a portion of the money to open a savings account as a backup plan for future projects like starting my own business or making investments. My goals, however, go beyond material prosperity. I am committed to giving back to individuals who can use financial support once I have attained financial security and paid off my college loans. Inspired by the kindness of those who have helped me along the way, I want to help students from comparable backgrounds who encounter financial impediments to school, establish a scholarship fund or foundation. Through this effort, aspirants will be empowered and lifted up so they can realize their own goals.
Having lupus and coming from an immigrant household has molded my character and given me a tremendous resolve to tackle challenges. I want to use my expertise in finance to better my life and help those who are struggling with similar issues. With the help of financial resources, I can concentrate on reaching my professional objectives and eventually build a platform to help others in need of money. I wish to help people who have similar struggles to mine have a better future by returning the favor.
Dounya Discala Scholarship
I Can Do Anything Scholarship
The idealized version of me is a resilient person who overcame the difficulties brought on by receiving a lupus diagnosis, reached financial security by paying off student loans, flourished in the corporate world through contacts and hard effort, and continues to actively contribute in my community expressing her gratitude to her parents for their love and efforts.
Beyond The C.L.O.U.D Scholarship
My hopes and objectives for the future are obvious as I pursue a career in finance as a sophomore in college. I am motivated by my love of finance, my desire to give back to my community, and my ambition to pay off my college loans. The possibility of getting this scholarship would considerably aid in the accomplishment of my goals and have a good influence on my future path while trying to manage a diagnosis of lupus.
First and foremost, my love for finance inspires my desire to succeed in it. I strive to have a significant influence through my precise attention to detail, analytical abilities, and sincere curiosity in learning about the complexities of the financial world. In high school in December 2019, everything changed. I was on my way to school when I suddenly came down with a high fever. In the days that followed, my condition worsened, and I panicked. Remembering my grandfather’s lessons, I did not want my illness to limit me, and I used it to propel me forward. I presented a club idea to my school named “Kindness Through Crisis.” However, a huge barrier to my achievement is the rising cost of inflation and college tuition. With the financial support from this scholarship, I would be able to pay off some of the onerous student loans I have accumulated and concentrate more on my academic and professional development.
My ultimate goal is to start scholarships for people in need once I've succeeded and paid off my student loans. I want to start a positive change by providing people with educational opportunities that will allow them to break down barriers and achieve their own goals. I want to empower underprivileged students and promote a more equal society by offering scholarships. I firmly believe that spending money on education is an investment in a better future for people, their families, and their communities—an impact that will last for future generations.
Colby R. Eggleston and Kyla Lee Entrepreneurship Award
Although having an autoimmune disease can present serious difficulties, this should never prevent someone from pursuing their goals or aspirations. I am interested in helping teenagers who are dealing with similar health issues since I have experienced the difficulties of living with lupus since I was a small child. I want to start a business in my neighborhood that will be specifically designed to empower and encourage these strong people, giving them the support and direction they need to pursue their personal and professional objectives.
The company I'm proposing is an extensive platform to give youth with autoimmune diseases access to resources, mentorship, and possibilities. This platform would include a number of services, such as career counseling, educational programs, career assistance, connections with mentors who have successfully run their own, and other services.
This company would make significant contributions to the general well-being of our neighborhood in a number of ways. First of all, it would cater to the special requirements of young people with autoimmune disorders by providing a secure environment where they may learn, develop, and connect with others who have gone through similar things. By offering educational programs and career counseling, we would give them the knowledge and abilities they need to successfully pursue their goals and face the obstacles of adulthood.
Additionally, the site would help these youngsters feel empowered and confident. They would be motivated to overcome their own challenges and realize their full potential by being introduced to mentors who have succeeded in overcoming their autoimmune disorders. Beyond their own lives, this empowerment would have a good effect on the community and society.
To create this firm, I would first carry out a thorough market analysis to determine the particular requirements, difficulties, and goals of kids in my neighborhood who have autoimmune disorders. This study would offer insightful information on how to best customize the platform's support and service offerings.
Then, in order to create a network of support, I would work with schools, healthcare experts, and community-based organizations. By forming alliances, we could take advantage of our already-existing resources and knowledge, assuring a thorough approach to meeting the various needs of our target audience.
Through a dedicated website and social media channels, I would also create an online presence. This would act as a center for community involvement, information, and resources. Additionally, it would promote connections between young people, role models, and experts in various fields who could provide advice and chances for internships or apprenticeships.
Similarly, fundraising efforts are essential to maintain the company and give individuals in need scholarships or financial aid. We might raise the money required to support the company's expansion and impact by planning community events, looking for corporate sponsorships, and using crowdfunding platforms.
In conclusion, we can have a profound impact on our neighborhood by starting a company designed to empower youth with autoimmune disorders. We can make sure that these resilient people are defined by their resolve and accomplishments rather than their health issues by offering resources, mentorship, and chances. Together, we can create a future without the limitations autoimmune diseases that discourage career and motivation driven young adults.

Jeannine Schroeder Women in Public Service Memorial Scholarship
I am passionate about finance and am excited about developing the tools to help
businesses sustainably grow. It is my goal to be a change agent for more diverse representation in
the private sector. Today, there is a large disparity between opportunities and pay for women and
men in the corporate world. I believe part of the solution is to expand the talent pipeline and
create diverse leaders to promote change.
As a teenager, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that resulted in multiple
extended hospital stays and significantly impacted my ability to attend classes in person. I was
determined to overcome this and not let it impact my grades. I had to make up for any missed
classes, do additional homebound tutoring, and find ways to be a part of my high school
community while not always being able to attend school. I continued to take a rigorous course
load, founded a student support group, and will be able to graduate with a high GPA.
Having a strong support system is a major component that helped me get through these
trying times. Albeit, being a hard-working, diligent student while receiving a diagnosis with
multiple autoimmune diseases was difficult. I did not allow these adversaries to prevent me from
achieving my full academic potential and forging ahead. Being able to overcome my health
challenges in high school has enabled me to use my energy to fuel further academic success.
My ultimate goal is to eventually work for a company and contribute to its financial and overall growth. Another one of my ambitions is to utilize my positive leadership skills to help eliminate unethical financial practices that continue to plague the corporate landscape. I am focused on implementing and restoring integrity as a core principle not solely in the workplace but throughout the community.
Now more than ever, I am determined to pursue a successful career in business and finance.
Overall this experience has influenced my work ethic and has made me more empathetic toward
others. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life by contributing to success in the
business world. Through my further academia at the University of Miami, I will gain skills, knowledge, and real-world experience that will help me obtain a thriving career in business. It will provide a foundation for how I can implement innovative strategies in finance. Key components that I am focused on and intend to master include corporate financial planning, business strategies, and compliance.

Your Health Journey Scholarship
A few ways that I practice self-care are working out, listening to music, enjoying nature, and spending time with my friends. Self-care is important, just as physical health is important, mental health is just as important. I have learned that I must take care of myself and make sure that I am okay before I try to assist others. If you run yourself down, you will be no good to take care of anyone. Therefore, it is so important to take care of yourself so that you can have the energy to take care of others as well.
I am a strong advocate for mental health because I struggle with anxiety and depression along with my autoimmune illness.
In December 2019, everything changed when I suddenly came down with a high fever. Days after, my condition worsened, and I panicked. I collapsed and spent ten days in the hospital, the doctors believed I had cancer. Several other specialists approached my case conservatively.
I asked “why me” but remained optimistic. I started homebound tutoring, but social isolation swiftly overcame me. My peers continued life as normal while mine came to a halt.
Three months later, COVID-19 caused a widespread lockdown. My friends did not adjust well, so I comforted them. After all, I endured a three-month head start. I wanted to help my suffering classmates. I did not want my illness to limit me; I used it to propel me forward.
As COVID-19 progressed, I created a club called "Kindness Through Crisis" in which I organized discussions and planned club activities such as networking several months prior to club approval. Similarly, I advertised the club, brought attention to the struggles of E-Learners, and tried to create a platform of inclusion while being remote. Although I had my physical health struggles throughout most of my time in high school, I did not allow that to stop me. In addition, my family and my medical team have worked diligently to stabilize my health conditions moving forward in my academic and professional life and career so that it does not prohibit me from accomplishing my dreams. Through my health experiences, I have learned that challenges build strength and inner fortitude. Obstacles in life foster opportunities such as growth and elevation.
Outside of school, I participate in charity work such as donating clothing or food to the less fortunate. For example, I decorate and color bags that contain food that are donated to the food pantry. In dealing with my own medical conditions, I wanted to expand my knowledge about health conditions. I did virtual shadowing with a physician in which he worked with me to learn more about some of the health conditions other people were facing and how to manage their treatment plans. I completed 24 hours of this virtual shadowing. I also provided Christmas and shelter for a homeless individual in 2018. Giving back and being an active leader is one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable things that I do in my free time. Mental health is stigmatized and I believe that it should be advocated for. If each person took 5 minutes of their day, they would be able to better understand mental health challenges.

Education is important to me for several reasons. Coming from an immigrant household, I aspire to achieve a college level degree and obtain a secure job.
I am currently attending The University of Miami and plan on completing a master’s degree in finance. I am determined to eventually become a very successful businesswoman and ascend the corporate ladder. I aspire to pursue a career in finance with a philanthropic focus and help others overcome any obstacles they may face.
In the future, I aspire to be financially stable, debt-free, and happy. I will conquer this by working hard in college and upon graduating, obtaining a job within the business world. I will then begin paying off my student loans, living on an extremely frugal budget. By doing so, it is my hope that I can become debt free 10 years after graduation from the University of Miami. In addition to that, I would like to retire my parents. With my father being an immigrant to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago, I believe that anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it. My father grew up poor in Trinidad and Tobago but wanted to obtain a better life for his family. Thus, he came to this country with only twenty dollars in his pocket. He came to the United States alone, worked two jobs trying to make ends meet while in community college. Through his tenacity, he was able to finish community college and then transfer to the University of Illinois at Chicago, becoming a chemical engineer. My father did not have much when he came to this country, but now he has built a better life for himself and his children. The perseverance that my father had has shaped me into the person I am today.
My goal is to be able to take care of my parents and travel with them. I hope to achieve this goal one day.
Mental Health Importance Scholarship
Mental health is something that I take very seriously as I struggle with anxiety and depression along with my autoimmune illness for this reason, I am a strong advocate for mental health.
In December 2019, everything changed when I suddenly came down with a high fever. Days after, my condition worsened, and I panicked. I collapsed and spent ten days in the hospital, the doctors believed I had cancer. Several other specialists approached my case conservatively.
I try to maintain my mental health through meditation and exercising. Working out, is my outlet and usually helps me when I am experiencing high anxiety.

I have learned that eating superfoods helps improve my gut health. Similarly, I have learned how significant it is to be cognizant of what foods you put in your body as it can improve your overall health and well-being. My favorite superfoods are avocados and salmon. I try to incorporate avocado into my diet a few times a week. Whether it be eating it as a side dish, or even creating an avocado toast or salad.

Unfortunately, after receiving my diagnosis of my autoimmune diseases, I struggled with food allergens. After undergoing extensive allergy testing, I was notified that I am allergic to many environmental allergens. Similarly, I am limited on what I can eat due to me having allergic reactions. This was frustrating for me because my food allergies developed out of the blue and I did not know what I was able to eat without having an allergic reaction. I know take precaution with everything I consume due to the fear of having allergic reactions.
However, as COVID cases continued to rise, I used my spare time to assist the less fortunate. Many were without computers, knowledge about COVID, or did not know how to make a vaccination appointment. I started mass campaigns on social media to help people schedule appointments for themselves and their families. I was able to help over 236 people secure appointments. Through my challenges, I continued to persevere and now I live with gratitude and appreciate everything in my life.
This scholarship will help me in reaching my goals by reducing the large number of student loans that I will have to pay back after I am finished with college. I am a great candidate to win the scholarship as I persevere through any challenges that I face and demonstrate many leadership qualities. I would be grateful for winning any scholarship to help reduce the cost of my college tuition. This would help me significantly so that my parents do not have to try to assist me through college as they have been such a huge support for me throughout my entire life.

Bold Confidence Matters Scholarship
In my opinion, confidence means being comfortable in your own skin.
While being selfless and constantly helping others is good, time for myself is needed. This helps me recharge so that I am able to refocus and continue to help others and continue to succeed in my academic career.
I try to work on self-care when I am feeling down. By doing things I enjoy it uplifts my spirit and helps me regain my confidence.

Budgeting is pivotal in creating wealth and prevention of debt. Without the stress of financial debt and burden one can succeed and continue to create generational wealth for future generations. Due to me learning the budgeting is a critical part of life, I have chose to study business and finance in college. I learned this message from my godmother and from my aunt both of which study business and finance and work for large corporate companies now. It is my goal that I am able to help companies and others with their financial planning for their success. Watching company succeed and helping others succeed as well as some thing I dream of. Company is growing exponentially financially is something I find intriguing. Once studying business and finance in college I will apply the strategies that I have learned into my adult life. I will implement strategies of analyzing profits and losses and creating a suitable budget for my style of living while remaining a comfortable lifestyle. Another component of the best financial advice I have received is to live below your means. I have witnessed this firsthand as my aunt does this and she is able to save money and invest the extra money into the stock market and watch her money exponentially grow. This is some thing that I hope to apply to my life so that I can live comfortably but still have passive income. Living below your means is some thing that can set one up for success.

Everything I ever need remains in my grandfather's suitcase.
There was never a shortage of surprises from my homeland: Trinidad and Tobago. Novelties like shells taught me how the sea shaped the land and how the land provided an opportunity to forge a unique life. My grandfather's storytelling molded me into the kindhearted and determined woman I am today.
My grandfather spent most of his career working for an oil refinery. Unfortunately, early-onset Parkinson's Disease caused him to retire prematurely. Yet, he remained positive and used his free time to enjoy precious moments with his family/community; as years progressed he declined.
The last time I saw him, he said he could not visit again due to the stress of traveling. I reassured him that I would visit him next time. He said, “with education and perseverance, you will accomplish all your dreams in the States.”
That next visit never came.
Unfortunately, my visit was never able to happen due to the borders being locked down during the COVID-19 pandemic. After battling with Parkinson’s for 18 long years, my grandfather passed. I had no closure, it was as if I felt empty. I had to attend his funeral VIA zoom.
In December 2019, everything changed. I was on my way to school when I suddenly came down with a high fever. Days after, my condition worsened, and I panicked. My grandfather told me to stay strong. I collapsed and spent ten days in the hospital, the doctors believed I had cancer. Several other specialists approached my case conservatively. Many treatments did not work. Three months later, COVID-19 caused a widespread lockdown. My friends did not adjust well, so I comforted them. After all, I endured a three-month head start. I wanted to help my suffering classmates. Remembering my grandfather’s lessons, I did not want my illness to limit me; I used it to propel me forward.
On October 28, 2020, my grandfather passed away after battling Parkinson’s for 18 years.
Due to closed borders, my family virtually attended his funeral; I felt as if there was no closure. Then, I recalled the very last time he visited. He left behind a suitcase. It was filled with old coins and other mementos. Before putting the suitcase away, I felt something heavy resting at the bottom: a compass.
I thought, “I still have Grandpa’s compass.” His words resonate in my head, “Try again. Never give up.” He believed I had the tenacity to accomplish my dreams.
As COVID cases continued to rise, I used my spare time to assist the less fortunate. Many were without computers, knowledge about COVID, or did not know how to make a vaccination appointment. Bold Caring for Seniors Scholarship
One thing that I do to improve the lives of elderly people in my community is trying to keep in contact with them.
My mom had an uncle named Bobby and his children did not care for him. He was very lonely and did not have contact with many people which resulted in him quickly developing dementia. After he was diagnosed with dementia, he declined quickly. He stopped talking, eating, and walking. His children never visited him nor called to check on him.
I had always had a great relationship with Uncle Bobby, he was hilarious. We would also make jokes together ever since I was around 8 years old. As I saw him age and progress, it saddened me so I would make sure to call him frequently to check on him because he lived alone. He always told me how much he appreciated me calling him and has inspired me to continue to check on the elderly because they might have a similar situation to his. His children abandoning him was heart wrenching, watching him alone in the hospital during his final days. Overall, this experience has shown me how much joy a simple phone call to the elderly can mean and I will continue to keep in contact with elders to bring them some happiness.

Knowing that my father came to the United States with practically no money has made me determined to try and work even harder than my father did.
Bold Fuel Your Life Scholarship
A goal that motivates me is how far I have come.
In December 2019, everything changed when I suddenly came down with a high fever. Days after, my condition worsened, and I panicked. I collapsed and spent ten days in the hospital, the doctors believed I had cancer. Several other specialists approached my case conservatively.
I presented a club idea to my school named “Kindness Through Crisis.” Students could virtually share their struggles and support each other. Sadly, I started losing hope in the club’s formation due to strict school policies. I persisted, and the school finally approved my club. I remained determined.
I aspire to pursue a career in finance with a philanthropic focus. I want to provide visionaries with their own compass. I will be attending University of Miami perusing a Finance degree.

While being selfless and constantly helping others is good, time for myself is needed. This helps me recharge so that I am able to refocus and continue to help others and continue to succeed in my academic career.

Bold Acts of Service Scholarship
Giving back to my community is one of my favorite hobbies and something that I truly enjoy doing in my spare time.

Through my health experiences, I have learned that challenges build strength and inner fortitude. Obstacles in life foster opportunities such as growth and elevation. Ultimately, the club had a positive outcome and I was able to help many of my peers during this trying time.
Bold Hobbies Scholarship
Giving back to my community is one of my favorite hobbies.
Youssef University’s College Life Scholarship
If I had 1,000 dollars I would immediately allocate a significant amount for my tuition college tuition. With the remaining amount, I would use it to give back to the less fortunate. Giving back is something that I truly enjoy. I would give back to my community, possibly even by sharing a small amount of this scholarship with another student to help them with their tuition cost.
Having 1,000 dollars saved for college would help me significantly. With college tuition costs being extremely expensive, earning this scholarship would help alleviate some of my college tuition. By earning this scholarship, it will reduce the large number of student loans that I will have to pay back after I am finished with college. I would be grateful for winning any scholarship to help reduce the cost of my college tuition.

In December 2019, everything changed when I suddenly came down with a high fever. Days after, my condition worsened, and I panicked. I collapsed and spent ten days in the hospital, the doctors believed I had cancer. Several other specialists approached my case conservatively.
I presented a club idea to my school named “Kindness Through Crisis.” Students could virtually share their struggles and support each other. Sadly, I started losing hope in the club’s formation due to strict school policies. I persisted, and the school finally approved my club. I remained determined.
As COVID cases continued to rise, I used my spare time to assist the less fortunate. Many were without computers, knowledge about COVID, or did not know how to make a vaccination appointment. I started mass campaigns on social media to help people schedule appointments for themselves and their families. I was able to help over 236 people secure appointments.

Bold Motivation Scholarship
Perseverance motivates me on a daily basis. Dealing with multiple autoimmune diseases at the age of 17 years old is truly a challenge, however, I use my challenges to propel me forward. In addition to that, with my father being an immigrant to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago, I believe that anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.
Knowing that my father came to the United States with practically no money has made me determined to try and work even harder than my father did. Fortunately, living in the USA, there are more opportunities for success compared to what my homeland country had to offer. Growing up with great values to work hard and become successful has molded my character as a human.
Bold Loving Others Scholarship
I spend time with my family and friends making jokes and reminiscing on happy memories. Bold Equality Scholarship
I strongly support diversity as I grew up in a small town where there were not many minorities. Equality is important because all humans are created equally. No one should have to suffer due to the color of their skin. Each person should be allowed to have the same opportunities in life whether it be for a job or a social setting. At my school, there were not many minorities. Being a Trinidadian American, it was very hard for me to fit in during elementary and middle school. I was bullied for many years due to the color of my skin. I was the only Trinidadian in my school and it was very hard for me to explain to people where Trinidad was and what my ethnic background was. This was difficult for me growing up because people called me insulting names and would make me feel horrible about myself. Today, I am proud of my heritage and background and will continue to strive for equality of all races!

I plan on attending a 4-year university and completing a master’s degree in finance and business. I am determined to eventually become a very successful businesswoman and ascend the corporate ladder. Having family as a support is a key component that helped me get to where I am today. This helped me remain positive and want to persevere through the obstacles I was facing.

Learner Education Women in Mathematics Scholarship
Math is important because it is a fundamental process that we all continue to use throughout our lives. It is used in all aspects of life, whether it be problem-solving, budgeting, purchasing items, or even cooking. When growing up as a child, I loved to learn math but I did struggle with it. However, since math was my favorite subject, I practiced daily for hours and eventually became good at math. In high school, I participated in the mathematic core classes of Honors Algebra 2, Honors Geometry, and AP Statistics. Not only was it challenging, but it pushed me to have higher-level thinking. Math has helped me develop analytical thinking which has helped me with a bigger aspect of my life: time management. Taking many AP and Honors classes requires a good practice of time management.
Math is a subject that needs to be practiced to be fully retained. Doing homework and practicing mathematical concepts is extremely crucial to absorb the material. Although some people may believe that math concepts are only used in math class, that is not true. Math is used in many different subjects and is used much more than we realize. It also helps build mental discipline by helping us use strategies that we have learned to overcome obstacles.
Additionally, with the current world technology changing so rapidly, it is pivotal that we humans remain practicing mathematical skills and concepts. Math plays a fundamental role in the world's technology and how it progresses. Without adapting to new technology and learning new algebraic concepts, the world would not function at its full potential.
With being a senior in high school, graduating in May 2022, math has been an extremely influential subject throughout my high school career. For instance, math exists in all aspects of jobs, my father who is a chemical engineer uses math every day. To add on, I am majoring in Business and Finance as my post-secondary education continues. I know that I am prepared to take on difficult math courses as I was previously preparing myself for four years with challenging math classes from high school. Additionally, I have two aunts that are finance majors and they have informed me that math is the key component of their jobs. Finance majors work with math each day planning and analyzing statistics of a company and I am excited to apply all of the math skills I have learned to college.

Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
Everything I ever need remains in my grandfather's suitcase.
There was never a shortage of surprises from my homeland: Trinidad and Tobago. Novelties like shells and pebbles taught me how the sea shaped the land, and how the land provided an opportunity to forge a unique life. My grandfather's storytelling through little gifts molded me into the kindhearted and determined woman I am today.
My grandfather spent most of his career working for an oil refinery. The blazing sun and pitch oil from the refinery never limited my grandfather. Unfortunately, early-onset Parkinson's Disease caused him to retire prematurely. Yet, he remained positive and used his newfound free time to enjoy precious moments with his wife, children, and community. But, as the years progressed, I slowly watched him transform.
The last time I saw him, he told me he could not visit again due to the stress of traveling. I reassured him that I would visit him next time. He said to me, “with education and perseverance, you will accomplish all your beautiful dreams in the States.”
That next visit would never come.
Several other specialists approached my case conservatively. Many treatments did not work.
My peers continued life as normal while mine came to a resounding halt.
Three months later, COVID-19 caused a widespread lockdown. My friends did not adjust well, so I comforted them. After all, I endured a three-month head start.
Many were without computers, knowledge about COVID, or did not know how to make a vaccination appointment. I started mass campaigns on social media to help people schedule appointments for themselves and their families. I was able to help over 236 people secure appointments.
I aspire to pursue a career in finance with a philanthropic focus. I want to provide visionaries with their own compass, much like my grandpa did for me.

My experience with multiple autoimmune diseases has taught me to persevere through any challenges that life may present.
In December 2019, everything changed. I was on my way to school when I suddenly came down with a high fever. Days after, my condition worsened, and I panicked. My dad told me to stay strong. I collapsed and spent ten days in the hospital, the doctors believed I had cancer. Several other specialists approached my case conservatively. Many treatments did not work.
I presented a club idea to my school named “Kindness Through Crisis.” Students could virtually share their struggles and support each other. Sadly, I started losing hope in the club’s formation due to strict school policies. I spoke with my dad daily about this, his response was always to make it a reality, no matter the obstacles.
Through my challenges, I continued to persevere.
Winning this scholarship would help me to reach my goals because it would lessen the financial burden on me. With my absorbent amount of continuation of care, medical management and care the cost of tuition is overwhelming. Upon being awarded this scholarship, I will bring awareness to the community of autoimmune diseases in teenagers and overcome daily obstacles and challenges.

WinnerA quality that I value for myself is determination. Through his tenacity, he was able to finish community college and then transfer to University of Illinois at Chicago, becoming a chemical engineer. My father did not have much when he came to this country, but now he has built a better life for himself and his children. The perseverance that my father had has shaped me into the person I am today.
Knowing that my father came to the United States with practically no money has made me determined to try and work even harder than my father did. Fortunately, living in the USA, there are more opportunities for success compared to what my homeland country had to offer. Growing up with great values to work hard and become successful have molded my character as a human.

WinnerEverything I ever need remains in my grandfather's suitcase.

I persisted, and the school finally approved my club. My grandfather was extremely proud.

Moriah Janae Dance Grant
Dance is significant to me because it allows me to express my emotions. At the young age of 8, I began taking dance classes at a company previously named "Gold Star Academy". My cousins and I would choreograph dances for us to practice and then perform at family events and graduations. Over the years being diagnosed with medical issues limited me from dancing, however I still continue to dance in my spare time. Being seventeen years old, having to deal with multiple autoimmune diseases, I have realized that dance has become an outlet for me.
For one of my conditions being Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, I have to include cardio into my daily routines. In the past I found it difficult to participate in any type of cardiovascular activity. Nevertheless, I remembered how liberating dancing felt so I gave it a try a few weeks ago. This resulted in me having more energy, my dizziness from the postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome has been reduced significantly and overall I feel stronger.
Dancing has positively impacted my life as it gives me something to look forward to on difficult days. Additionally, with the stressors of the COVID- 19 pandemic, I have learned that dancing is an additional stress relieving mechanism that works for me. Dancing is universal which allows it be done worldwide. Throughout the pandemic, many influencers have hosted live streams on social media platforms where they dance and teach choreographies and this has been extremely fun for me. Dance has positively impacted my life because it allows me to feel the beats of the songs and learn to create moves that go along with the beat. Moreover, when I am able to obtain enough energy to get up and dance, it helps my mental state significantly. It boosts my moral and mindset.
Being a Trinidadian American, allows me to enjoy many different types of cultural music since Trinidad is a melting pot of all cultures. Many cultures have different music that I love learning how to dance to.
Graduate Debt-Free Scholarship
My name is Gabriella Hospedales-Mohammed and I am a hardworking student.
I work hard to ensure that my hard work is noticed. I have received academic excellence three years in a row as well as being on the high honor roll for three years. I have also received student of the quarter five times over my high school career specifically in the school years of 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Something I am passionate about is, giving back to my community. I am determined to accomplish my goals no matter what life obstacles that I endure. I am very organized and I have honed and utilized this skill through my internship experiences. I am outspoken and I work towards change - this was one of the reasons that I wanted to create the Kindness Through Crisis group.
In addition to that, several health challenges required me to advocate for myself at a young age. My team of physicians felt the need to incorporate a 504 plan to support my medical conditions as well as the success of my academic career. As a hardworking, high-achieving student, I do not allow my physical challenges to inhibit my academic success. I aspire to become a successful businesswoman. I will take every opportunity to do so.
After high school, I hope to establish an organization that supports and provides guidance for individuals and families with similar medical conditions as mine. I hope to have a strong focus on philanthropy as I continue progress through my professional life. To achieve this goal, I plan on attending a 4-year university and completing a master’s degree in finance and business. I am determined to eventually become a very successful business woman and ascend the corporate ladder.
Although I had my health struggles throughout most of my time in high school, I did not allow that to stop me. In addition, my family and my medical team have worked diligently to stabilize my health conditions moving forward in my academic and professional life and career so that it does not prohibit me from accomplishing my dreams.
The major component in helping me decide on which college I will attend is tuition. In my opinion, I believe that I need to go to a university that will propel me forward in my career and not create a large amount of debt. In order to do so, I will leave below my means and try to work as I can. By receiving this scholarship, it would alleviate a fraction of the cost of the total Tuition at the university I choose to attend.

Bold Wisdom Scholarship
If there was one time that I could share with the world it would be to be kind to everyone. You never know what others are going through and just by being simply kind you can help boost someone’s spirit. Using kind words or simply being friendly to someone can positively impact their day. Through being kind to others it is projecting positivity into the world trying to create a positive roll in society. Additionally, kindness is contagious. If someone views you being kind, they might start acting kind as well. Kindness improves your mood and gives you a feeling of satisfaction. Moreover, it can help make you feel better knowing that you impacted someone’s life positively. Even if someone is mean or says negative things to you, being kind to them is the right thing to do. Being mean does not get you far in life. Being mean and negative shoes a reflection of how someone feels about themself. Therefore, it is pivotal to be kind to everyone as it shows a positive reflection of who you are.

Friendship means honesty. A friend should have your back and want the best for you. A friend should not influence you to do negative things. You should be able to have fun with a friend. Friends will look out for you and have your back no matter what. In order to have a strong friendship it is pivotal that honesty between the friends is strong. Having a true friend means you are comfortable around them, you have fun around them, they make you laugh, and they support your goals and dreams. Communication is something that is very important within friendships. Without communication a friendship can be ruined. Having a good true real friend, is extremely valuable because good true friends are hard to find. Although it is difficult to find true friends, once you have a true friend you know that they will not go anywhere. Friendship is a two-way path, each person in the friendship has to put an equal effort.
Bold Financial Freedom Scholarship
The best piece of financial advice that I have ever received was to budget.

As COVID-19 progressed, I created a club called "Kindness Through Crisis" in which I organized discussions and planned club activities such as networking several months prior to club approval.
