I have always been deeply rooted in my faith in the Lord. I grew up attending church every Sunday and even sang in the church choir at times. At the age of 11, I decided to get baptized, fully committing my life to the Lord. As I stepped into the next chapter of my life and started college, I faced numerous challenges that took a toll on my mental health. During this time, I began to live by Philippians 4:6-7: "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then, you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." This verse is extremely special to me because I tend to be an anxious person. It reminds me not to worry about anything but to pray about everything, casting all my worries and anxieties onto the Lord, which will leave me with peace and a clear mind.
Since I stepped onto the campus of Arkansas State University, I've met many new people and feel like I've found my place and family there. While on campus, several friends and I have begun attending church, participating in community service events, and having relaxing days filled with fun activities and laughter to support our mental health. Once I achieve my academic goals, I plan to open my therapy clinic. I aim to give back to the community by helping individuals understand and navigate their mental health. I want to provide affordable appointments in a space where patients feel safe, seen, and heard. I firmly believe that this scholarship would significantly alleviate the financial pressures of my education, covering essential expenses such as books, tuition, and room and board. With the support of this scholarship, I would be able to focus wholeheartedly on my studies, become the best version of myself, and positively impact the lives of others.
