Hello, my name is Gabriel Ruiz, but most people refer to me as Gabe. Here's a few things to know about me: I’m 18, a senior at Camden County Technical School, and I study Automotive Technology. The reason why I got into the automotive field was because when I was younger, I used to always watch my dad fix his car, truck, and even ATV’s at a young age. When I used to watch him, I always wanted to learn how to do that, and then take those skills and become even better. Aside from watching my dad, he introduced me to the Fast and Furious franchise and while watching the movies, I became more and more interested in the automotive industry because of the way they were fixing and upgrading the cars. One day while I was watching a movie, my dad took me to help him with his 1995 Suzuki Samurai. While helping him and learning the basics of how to fix cars, that’s when I realized what I wanted to do when I got older. That moment in my life, I realized that I wanted to become a mechanic and make him proud. Some of the accomplishments I have achieved so far while studying automotive is making my parents proud and being able to be better than them. One MAJOR accomplishment that I am on my way to making a reality is being the first person in my family to graduate from a trade school. After that accomplishment, I’ll be the second person in my family to go into the military, but the first to go into the Air Force. Now that I talked about my accomplishments and what I accomplished, let's talk about my goals. The goals that I have set for myself is to be able to open up a shop with my father. My father is whom I look up to and want to be better then. He’s the reason why I’m into cars and the reason why I want to make it a career. Another goal for me is to be able to give back to my parents for everything they have done for me in the years they have taken care of me and provided for me. That is one of the biggest and most important goals that I want to accomplish. The reason being is because growing up, I’ve always been the oldest, but they also always make sure that I have everything I could ever ask for. Even after saying that I didn’t want anything for Christmas or for my birthday (because they are enough), they still went out of their way to give me what I wanted. I strive to make my mom really, really proud of me, of where I’m at, and where I’m going. My mom has been there for me even when I was at my very lowest and never gave up on me. She always believed in me from the very beginning even when times were rough.; so, I want to be able to show her the reason why I’m pursuing my dreams. It’s not just because of my dad, but also because of my mom; she has been my day one supporter, always knew that I could accomplish things and make it far.

Good evening, I am pursuing automotive because I grew up around cars and ATVs ever since I can remember. My father owns a few ATVs and cars and has always worked on them. He always finds a way to fix them one way or another. His passion became mine but I decided to make a career out of it. I will also be the first one in my family (including my parent and grandparents) to attend college/ trade school. If I could pay it forward, I would teach students to learn about cars since not everyone is fortunate enough to be around someone or have someone in their life to teach them.
