WCEJ Thornton Foundation Music & Art Scholarship
My Name is Gabriel Longoria. Since I was a kid, I have been obsessed with art. I have always been fascinated with the fact that you can have both Art and Writing because I have also been writing several stories since I was a kid. Making Art and Writing Stories have always been my go-to when I have nothing to do because of my imagination, and because of my imagination, I can use it to complement my art and my writing together to make it more visual for people who will eventually read my stories.
So evidently, I enjoy making artwork for my stories as well as writing things, and then later on making artwork for a story I have already made. All of this will help me make a positive impact by showing people what they have and haven't seen before in a different way, so that they can have a good time and know that art doesn't mean that one person has to be a part of it, and that if you want to learn art, all you have to do is ask.
Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
I plan on making a positive impact on the world by volunteering at places that I think are fun and by, of course, helping certain organizations achieve what they are looking for. Since I was a kid, I have been part of a non-profit organization called Kinetic Kids, a non-profit for special needs, and I happen to have been part of it for almost 18 years, which counts the years that I just visit and don't actually take part in some of the activities or things they do much anymore since starting college. I believe that if you volunteer, even if it's just for a little while, you're doing something good, not for the people who need the volunteers but for yourself as well.
Since I found the aspect of being a nerd and a geek through Comic Books, Manga, and Anime, I have volunteered for at least 5 different conventions over the past 7 years, some with my mom, and now some by myself now that I'm an adult. There have been a few conventions these past 3 years that I have volunteered at, and not only did I have a fun time while I was there, but some of the people were nice, and some were glad that we came together to help.
Being in the art field, I can also make a positive impact by giving, selling, and showing off my artwork to a bunch of people that I know and meet, so that they can see something cool that they haven't seen before. Planning something like this takes time, of course, but I'm willing to try anything with my work as long as it gives off a positive emotional impact. Making artwork, writing stories, and making content, all of this makes me feel like a person who can make an impact in the future just by sharing it with the world.
Finally, I would like to say that making things for people and helping them do things as a volunteer would make me and anyone, in my opinion, feel good, and I would feel like I'm there not only helping and doing something for someone in need, but it would also make me feel like i'm making a positive impact on peoples lives when they are having fun. So, as a final word, I feel like I should say "Don't let someone ruin your fun," especially when someone you think should enjoy being where they are, "make sure they do have plenty of fun."
WCEJ Thornton Foundation Low-Income Scholarship
Attending higher education will help me achieve my goals of working in the professional art field. I will use my degree to do 1 of 3 things: 1. Use my degree for a professional company that works in the art field, 2. I will use my degree to commission art for others so they can get the artwork they desire for their writings/stories or just art in general for personal purposes, 3. I will use my degree to make something of my art on my own, like starting a business, selling my artwork, or using my artwork and writings personally. I do have a hobby of writing stories and telling them well so that I can create artwork directly for the series or story, and make the story relate to the artwork. I feel like I can use this as well, my creative writing skills.
I have a lot of hobbies besides making art and writing stories. I also make content on YouTube and stream on Twitch and YouTube for fun. As to which, I also hand-edit everything that is on my channel, along with a few friends who help me edit all of the videos I make.
So yes, I think I can create a positive impact by sharing everything I do with as many people as I can so that not only I feel good about what I do, but also make people feel good about what I make, especially if it means it will be shared more and more and more. On another note, I also create music with one of my editors for my YouTube channel, as he is a free-range producer on his work time and deals with music all of the time, which is why I have Music and Songwriting on my bold.org profile.
I know it may seem that I have just too many hobbies and that I'm overwhelming myself, but I think that having too many hobbies, especially for a "Spicy" person like me, is a good thing because then you have no idea what I will make next. Since I have so many hobbies that are close to art in some way, you can tell why and how I love art very much, and how much I deal with it almost every single day that I decide to work on something new or create something that I haven't done before.
In Conclusion, I think yes, I will make an impact in the future just by making the people I know happy, because what I do makes me happy. Since I was just a kid at 9, I have been doing the same thing since then: art. So I just want to say what I always say to myself when I make something, "Do what you like, if you don't like it, try again. It never hurts to just try again."
