As I embark on my journey as a first-generation college student, I am acutely aware of the significance of this achievement. Being the first in my family to attend college is not merely a personal milestone; it is a profound statement of perseverance, sacrifice, and hope. My parents' dreams have always centered around education, despite their own limited opportunities. Their commitment to my success has shaped my identity and fueled my ambition to pursue an engineering degree. This journey is about me, but it is also about my family, my community, and the future generations who will benefit from my educational pursuits. Growing up in a household where neither parent attended college, I often grappled with feelings of uncertainty and isolation. My parents worked tirelessly, balancing multiple jobs to ensure I had access to educational resources. They instilled in me a resolve to excel academically, yet they often struggled to understand the complexities of the college admission process. Early conversations revolving around my future often revolved around dreams yet to be fulfilled, mixed with the reality of financial constraints. However, these challenges have only strengthened my resolve. Each obstacle I faced be it navigating the college application process without guidance or managing my studies alongside part-time work has underscored the importance of higher education in breaking the cycle of socio-economic hardships. Pursuing an engineering degree is particularly important to me because it embodies my desire to innovate, solve problems, and create solutions that address real-world challenges. I have always been fascinated by how engineering merges creativity with analytical thought, resulting in tangible outcomes that can improve lives. My enthusiasm for building and designing began in childhood— dismantling gadgets and engineering LEGO structures fueled my curiosity and imagination. In high school, I actively sought out courses in math and science, where I thrived academically. However, it was not until I joined a robotics club that I realized the true potential of engineering to create societal impact. As I worked alongside my peers to construct robotic systems, I was introduced to the principles of teamwork, critical thinking, and the iterative nature of the engineering process. These experiences solidified my aspiration to pursue a degree in engineering specifically, medical engineering. I am particularly drawn to this field because of its focus on innovation and functionality, and I hope to apply this knowledge to address pressing issues such as renewable energy, climate change, and sustainable infrastructure. I envision a career where I can contribute to creating technologies that not only benefit society but also honor the ethical responsibility engineers have towards the environment and community. Being a first-generation college student pursuing an engineering degree holds profound personal importance for me. It’s a chance to pave a new path for my family and to inspire my younger siblings who look up to me. I often think about my parents’ sacrifices: how they sacrificed personal dreams to ensure I had the opportunity to build my own. I carry their legacy with me, and I understand that my success will ripple beyond my own life. It will illuminate the path for my siblings and other aspiring students in my community, showing them that higher education is not just a privilege for the few but an attainable goal for those willing to work for it. Moreover, I believe that my journey as a first-generation college student can help bridge the gaps within underrepresented communities in engineering. Historically, the field of engineering has lacked diversity. I am determined to shift this narrative by advocating for inclusivity and by sharing my experiences. By serving as a mentor and role model, I hope to dispel the myths that may inhibit others from pursuing careers in STEM. I aspire to engage in outreach programs in my community that promote awareness of engineering careers and provide resources for students interested in these fields. The opportunity to attend college is transformative—not only for me but for my family and my community. It provides me the platform to acquire knowledge and skills that can lead to meaningful change. I recognize that mentorship and networking will be crucial to my success. I intend to seek out academic and professional opportunities that enable me to grow and expand my horizons, whether through internships, research projects, or partnerships with local engineering firms. I am eager to immerse myself in the diverse spheres of engineering and collaborate with peers who share my passion for solving problems. As I reflect on what this opportunity means to me, I am filled with gratitude and determination. My journey as a first-generation college student is about more than personal success; it is rooted in community, family, and the desire to contribute positively to society. It emphasizes the importance of resilience, knowledge, and the ongoing quest for improvement. In conclusion, the journey of pursuing an engineering degree as a first-generation college student signifies a pivotal step in redefining my future and the futures of those around me. This opportunity represents a chance to honor my parents' sacrifices while standing as a beacon of hope for others. Fueled by passion, determination, and a commitment to making a difference, I am prepared to navigate the challenges that lie ahead. Through engineering, I aim not only to empower myself but also to uplift others, fostering a legacy of education, innovation, and inclusivity for generations to come.

Life is full of obstacles and hardships ; they give you a lot of stones and bricks in the way and the journey itself. It comes when you least expected and the way it is turned out ; this gives out the most important thing in life and what you can come from. This year I got to see my dad being operated on, diagnosed with a illness in the prostate and what was happening around my world and life. To be exact, it was 3 months, and it made me realize I had to find a job in order to support myself and see the outcome of this situation ; and deal with college responsibilities. This gave me the insight and the thought of being strong and being resilient and what challenges there are to come. As for saying, there are times when you need to be strong and have the determination to ease and what is there to come. I believe there are times to be strong and resilient and be patient about certain situations and what gives on the things are turned out. Despite the circumstances, I managed to develop a certain way of how to handle my assignments and college work. Of course, my hardship was not going to last forever, and I got help from my other relatives and encountered a way of seeing the way we see our struggles and never give up our life and life responsibilities. I began volunteering and standing up for myself despite what this year gave me and what is on the brink on my journey so far. I felt there are a lot of initiatives and outcomes you give to yourself. From what I know, there are times to see the positive side of your life, as if only to develop a way to become an easy path to be corrected and how some organizations are willing to help in the darkest times there is. The only way to is what gives the most important way to see the world outside the environment we see every day and the people we interact with. Through these acts of service, I not only gave back to my community but also honored the unconditional love and support I had received during my own hardship. Agape love is about recognizing the struggles of others and responding with compassion and kindness. By sharing my story and supporting those in need, I sought to create a ripple effect of hope and resilience within my community. I believe there are changes and a way of going forward and the resistance of developing our senses and how we are in the way of what we go through.

As growing up, reading books from a young age. It has been a special moment in my life. They shaped a lot of my knowledge and inspiration for what to do with my life ; as for the better I have been learning and how to adapt to the world as what we encounter in our everyday routine and life. And through the pages of various genres, from classic literature to modern self-help, I have absorbed lessons, gained new perspectives, and developed aspirations that have fundamentally shaped my goals. My journey through literature has taught me the importance of resilience, the value of empathy, and the necessity of lifelong learning. The one book that particularly changed my life in a good way is Atomic Habits, and they have certainly showed me a way to better myself and to achieve my goals, in terms of being a better person every day and improving myself each day by 1% ; I think there is a lot by putting the hard work and the consistence in how we determine our lives for the better. I read those books during my high school years, and they have shown me a way of improving my way of living. Thus, I believe in ways of developing how we are in life. This enhances the inspiration in my life ; since I never had the guidance of my parents, which is okay since they were busy with work life and providing for the family, this book gave me a lot of inspiration and insight into how tiny habits there are to be better and reaching your dreams. Since there is a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, it helps us determine how our life is shaped. Thus, there are a lot of means ; how we live by. As the books I have read have not only enriched my mind but have also profoundly influenced my personal and professional goals. Through the lenses of resilience, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning, I aim to navigate life with intention and purpose. Books have the power to transform not just individuals but entire communities, and I am grateful for the insights they have provided me. As I continue my journey, I hope to embody the lessons learned and share the wisdom I have gained with others, inspiring them to pursue their own goals with the same fervor and dedication.

The first thing you notice about a small town like Willow Creek is its peaceful simplicity. Charming houses lined the streets, their white picket fences gleaming under the sun, and children laughed as they chased each other through lush green yards. There was a familiar comfort here, a gentle rhythm to life that lulled residents into a false sense of security. It was this peacefulness that soothed me into a spontaneous decision: to hold the town’s first-ever “Willow Creek Talent Show.” The idea blossomed during an unclear summer afternoon when my friend Emma suggested we bring people together for a night of creativity, laughter, and perhaps a bit of chaos. I envisioned it proud parents watching their children perform, local musicians serenading audiences under glowing fairy lights, and residents experiencing joy in a way that reminded them just how vibrant life could be. What could go wrong, I thought? With excitement buzzing in my chest, we launched our plans. Flyers were posted, and buzz began to swirl around town. “Talent Show Sign Up Now!” proclaimed bright letters against a backdrop of glittery stars. As the days rolled by, people began to sign up, and a sense of urgency gripped me as I realized I was not just coordinating an event; I was becoming the very fabric that wove our community together. Yet, associating with the excitement was a small, distressing feeling nestled in the back of my mind. What could go wrong? The day of the talent show arrived, shrouded in unpredictability. I stood at the entrance of town hall, the venue we’d chosen, which looked deceptively serene, adorned with twinkling lights and colorful streamers. But instead of the easiness I expected, nerves danced in my stomach like a flock of startled birds. I pulled out my clipboard, which had rapidly evolved from a tool of excitement to a source of anxiety. The first act was a magic show by Mr. Thompson, the town librarian known for his love of books more than his love for the limelight. I watched as he fumbled with his tricks, accidentally losing a rabbit from his hat. The critter bolted through the audience, causing children to squeal with delight as they chased it down. For a moment, I breathed a sigh of relief; while the show didn’t follow my vision perfectly, it certainly brought laughter. Still, I could not help but think, what else could go wrong? Emma’s solo was next. As she began to sing a heartfelt ballad, the sound system let out a deafening screech. She winced, and the audience grimaced in unison. I rushed backstage to find the tech setup in chaos. “What happened?” I gasped at Derek, our makeshift sound engineer, who was busy wrestling with tangled cords. “It’s all a bit of a mess. I think the microphone’s busted!” Thunder rumbled outside, and the weather turned. Dark clouds swirled ominously in the sky. This was bad. The potential for disaster loomed larger by the minute. At that moment, I had to suppress my panic, reminding myself that every show has its hiccups. The next act featured the local dance troupe, a group of enthusiastic teenagers who donned colorful costumes. They erupted onto the stage with energy, their smiles infectious. But just as they hit the climax of their routine, the lights flickered, and suddenly, darkness enveloped the room. Gasps echoed throughout the hall. My heart sank. The power was out! In that moment, I faced the reality of everything that could possibly go wrong. I stood frozen as chaos unfolded around me; people make in confusion. A voice deep within urged me to escape the spiral of worry that could collapse the night like a house of cards. If almost everything was going wrong, could I find a way to transform it into something right? “Everyone, gather ‘round!” I shouted, my voice carrying above the din. The crowd quieted, looking at me bewildered. “It seems the universe wants to put on its own show tonight! No power? No problem! Let’s take this talent show outside!” With that, a newfound energy surged through the audience. People rallied together adults moved chairs, children lit candles, and the darkness transformed into an intimate glow that fueled a sense of camaraderie. Laughter replaced concern as we all flocked outside into the crisp night. Under the moonlight, acts turned into spontaneous performances mock talent shows punctuated by improv, silly skits, and even a Boy Scout troop showcasing their best campfire songs. Children climbed trees to reach the stars, while neighbors exchanged stories, laughter flowing like the sweet summer breeze. The show morphed into a magic of its own, one where genuine connection and unabashed joy reigned supreme. When the final words of a dramatic monologue echoed into the night, I sat back against a tree, exhaustion and excitement flooding through me, and felt something shift within me. What could go wrong indeed had gone wrong, but the magic lay not in the perfection of the talent show but in how we all banded together to celebrate each other. In that small town of Willow Creek, when things did not go as planned, blessings unfolded splendidly. The evening was raw and real, decorated not by clean performances but by laughter, community, and a shared embrace of imperfection. It affirmed my belief: perhaps what went wrong allowed everything to go right. As I packed up the remnants of the night, I realized that success rarely looks like what we envision. Instead, it dances hand-in-hand with resilience, creativity, and spontaneity. I smiled at the night sky, thankful for the reminder that some of the best experiences often come wrapped in unpredictability. With the spark of adventure in my heart, I knew I would carry this lesson into whatever might come next a bittersweet butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

As a child, I stood in my grandmother's house and many years later my grandmother fell ill; it was breast cancer, a painful disease that anyone can encounter. It was sad and hurtful to watch as she was treated by healthcare professionals as they worked on her many countless hours to manage the illness. Of course, it was not easy for the family. Those moments sparked a passion for my major in college, which is Health Science. I often think about why this happened to a family member of mine. I often reflect on how the compassionate care she received not only impacted her physical well-being but also gave our family a little bit of hope and strength during those challenging times. This personal experience showed me a deep desire within me to understand health from a holistic perspective and advocate for better health outcomes for others facing similar struggles. This changed my life, and it showed me how life can be delicate and tragic at the same time. So I am currently pursuing a major in Health Science, which focuses on understanding the various aspects of health, wellness, and disease prevention. This field is incredibly important to me because it fills me with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to improving public health outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities. I believe health science is an important tool and resource for everyone who is passionate about health science and the biological aspects of how cells are infected or how cancers are developed in the way of discovering a cure or mainly simply to raise awareness of why these diseases exist. I believe no one deserves to suffer from losing a beloved member of the family. Unfortunately, my beloved grandma passed away in my home country ; it was tough and hard to encounter, but in later years, there are times you need to know why these things happen, and I believe everything happens for a reason. Sometimes, in the experiences you encounter, you do not need to feel the sadness of it, but see the bright side, and you need to move on even through hard times despite being resilient and how to be aware of these diseases. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to further my knowledge and skills in the health sciences, equipping me to be part of the solution to health disparities. It would help alleviate the financial burden of my education, allowing me to dedicate more time to my studies and engage in hands-on experiences that will shape my future career. For example, to be on an internship or working in a local hospital and be the one who researches and tells people how to prevent diseases. Ultimately, this scholarship is not just a financial resource; it represents an opportunity for me to honor my grandmother’s legacy by pursuing my goal of making a meaningful impact in the world of health. Thank you for considering my application.

This gave me a lot of opportunities and the will to behave in such a good way and become better at something and, of course, help my community. I think from a perspective, there are a lot of stigma and doubts ; they help us in what we are focused on and the motivation to go on. This is very important and that is the ultimate goal: there is a lot of stigma and what the circumstances are. I think what we can infer and summarize is the fact that there are a lot of struggles behind my background. Since I came to this country, I struggled with the language, culture, and it was a struggle for me, and it was a new world for me. During my high school years I felt giving back to my community, and it was a success for me, since there was a lot of motivation and hard motivation for myself. I helped the Humane Society to give back to my community and this meant that everything was alright and what you can give, and it is very hard, and a struggle in life, to fall and get back up. This meant a lot and the embracing of not giving up, even though it was hard for me to go back to all those years when coming for a better life in this country. I believe there are good things you can achieve, while everything can be overwhelming and the skills you need in order to be boosted in confidence and what is giving ; giving my time at a volunteering place was important in my precious time to save animals and the importance of being kind and thoughtful in everything. As a look into my future, I am committed to the journey of committing to the goal of knowing and to getting my dream career in health science and getting to the place of development. And what is the dedication to goals and personal life? This gives for instance, what the sense of purpose overall and what I am supposed to do in order to succeed and what we are going through and the initiative source of joy and boosted my confidence overall.

I am a firm believer in social change who can be a role model for the world. This is achieved by creating new ways of innovating and being more helpful in society. I figure out that everything is continuing, and higher education can be done. Recently I have been accepted and got into the University of People. I was very entitled and enthusiastic about this news. I identify myself as a Hispanic, Latino and growing up as a low-inspired student in high school has let me inspired and strive for a higher education in order to achieve my dreams and goals in my life. As being a ten-year-old immigrant to the U.S., it was not easy ; learning the language was not easy. During the times of my childhood, I would be interested in health care topics and reading about time science and health in general. During my school years, I was into science, such as the stems program in my community, and I went to FGCU in order to do scientific experiments in the Everglades, such as collecting data from plants and local fauna. This got me captivated up on science and collaborating on a lot of science topics and made friends. So, years later, after graduating from high school and chasing my dreams of becoming a health science worker and bringing change to my community and life by chasing what I am passionate about. I feel health science is a fun and interesting career since you are changing someone's life for the better. The experience with this college has been so interesting and deep connection with people and thoughtful experiences. My ultimate goal is becoming a healthcare worker in a company to improve the organization and run it smoothly. This would be a helpful and more innovative way of helping and leading people. The importance of science is very important in everyday life. The dream I visualize is a challenge and life is full of obstacles in every situation you face. The ability to create and think critically is important to us and that is the defining of overcoming any type of struggle in life. STEAM, to me, is very common and integrates multiple disciplines, allowing for a more holistic understanding of how different fields intersect. This interdisciplinary approach can lead to a more comprehensive grasp of concepts and their applications in the real world. There are individuals like myself who are motivated every day and make a difference in this world.
    Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship
About exactly twenty-three years ago, my parents and I felt a tremendous loss of my older brother in my home country; it was devastating and tough to embrace. I felt like my entire world was upside down, even though I was two years old. I believe the most important thing in my life that matters is going through a lot and believing in yourself and achieving little things; it was difficult and the most important thing in my life. I was very feeling low during my age of knowing what is essential, what are the most important things in life, and what to achieve. I believe when you lose a close family member; you are losing part of yourself, too. It defines that sometimes that life is unfair, hard, and tragic. Sometimes life can throw you a lot of stones and challenges to overcome. Even though this happened a long time ago, I still will choose to work and fight for my dreams. It is difficult at all, but with the right path, we are choosing to move on with life. Now days, I can say that the most important thing in my life now is my family; even though my older brother is gone, he is there watching over me and saying that everything will be alright. In some aspects, life gives good and bad moments; our most problems are in our minds, and it depends on what you give out every day. I fight to achieve my career in health science. I want to have a career that will help others and the dream to be your best every day because you make a difference in this world, even though it is difficult and what to achieve and what it means to us. I believe there are good moments and the presence of being good people and what you give in this life. I think there is a lot to do. I have the support of my parents since it is important to have people who can take care of me and support my career and dreams since I am a first-generation student, which is interesting to achieve. There is a lot to do and to get done with. Family comes first with supporting and helping each other. Yes, life is tough and can be difficult, but you can choose to create your opportunities. Losing a family member is hard since it is tough and can be the most sad thing. It can happen to anyone, but we need to move forward and be patient, supporting and believing good things will happen in life. Grieving and coping with a loss of a family member can be included in the terms of being self-compassionate, acceptance, embracing, and social change; there are therapies too. I believe that anything can be possible, and being positive is another factor. I believe there is more and fight for what you want to accomplish in life. Life is a tough, happy, bittersweet, long journey ahead of us. Whatever happens tomorrow is uncertain, but I will not stop fighting for my dream and career. There is a lot to get done, even though it is heartbreaking, and embrace what lies ahead.

I think life sometimes gives us is that is unpredictable. Despite the ups and downs in life. I think everything happens for a reason ; this is tough and hard to move on. This happened on my home country it was very traumatizing event for me and it is tough to go on. This goes for the same and what is going in life. Life is full of surprises, after graduating I felt depressed since I was not feeling well with myself ; it was hard to handle ; even with choices we make everyday. I think everything has a reason to let it happen. I was not sure of my choices with my major and my education; after this pandemic and covid it was also traumatizing. Due to the pandemic and what is being on lockdown. I plan on carrying my older brother's legacy that nothing is impossible if you dream and have the chance to live your career; even though it is hard to move on , even he is long in this earth ; I am making this college journey after battling with depression over self steem issues ; I am willing to be strong and firm to get ahead even though life can throw you a lot of challenges and the choices I am making to my life to be successful ; it is not easy and what brings life on later. This can be a choice and what has on the person ; even though it is hard to cope there is still hope to go and fight for. There are things when you see it happen and what goes on ; I think the biggest lesson here is to never give up and what is there . This can happen everywhere and the willigness of learning everyday. It can be for good and bad. Thus, it can be amusing and what is the struggle with life. as of right now I am still remembering my older big brother.

In terms of social justice and equal rights, it is important to distinguish between human rights and the foundation on which we are able to navigate a complexity and the pressures that affect many communities and places in the United States. I think for a long time there has been a lot of systematic racism and an awareness of how we treat black Americans, especially in police brutality. There were a lot of questions and questions. When I first came to the country, I felt like there was something wrong with the justice system. I think there is a lot to do. The ideals with the questions of how we fix these issues. I think the most important issue is whether to stand up with you and how we should cope with life. I think there are a lot of ways we can see why the generation of humans is broken and the action of how we can change for the better. As growing up in a Third World country, Bolivia, there are still issues to fix and what can we do about it. There are ways to develop and enhance the changes within ourselves, since in the United States it is different. "NAACP" is one of the organizations that promote ending racial inequality and promotes civil rights. On the other hand, police brutality and systemic racism are critical issues that affect communities of color worldwide. Demanding accountability from law enforcement agencies is crucial for promoting trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Conclusion, social justice issues affect us all, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. It is essential to recognize the gravity of these issues and take action to address them. Being involved in the social justice movement can be achieved through education awareness campaigns, volunteering time with organizations working towards social justice causes, participating in peaceful protests and advocacy efforts. It can be a daunting task to see the need for change and the awareness of having a better quality of social justice in order to be more accurate and what is the defining impact on our community. What I really believe is that I am on a health science major to help people and make a small difference in the community. Thus, its optimism is where to fight and stand a chance. I know that in my life I will make a difference to end this and be part of the solution where it has been the awareness and what can be done about it.

Through my life I have faced adversity and challenges and made my life challenging at times. It has been a hard deal and what made me strong ,shaped me who I am today. I know that adversity at times can be part of life but everyone overcames over it .It builds your character. One obstacle that I overcame was being Hispanic in the United States, this is very critical sincw this country is made up of immigrants, while we are seen in the community by criminals, in the hood or some stereotypes that is hurtful. I personally in my life choose to ignore those stereotypes in order to become a better version of myself and do not everything I saw or experienced, even though I got bullied in middle school because of my accent and the thought of being hispanic. I focused my attention on my studies and academics. I excelled in the category of being a good excellent student and this made me proud of myself and my accomplishments. Another obstacle, was not having a car, this limited my opportunities while being offered to do different types of volunteer work ,and it led me into having fear and the insecurity of having to choose a path in terms of driving, thus everyone in high school knew or had a car. I could not work during my high school years , this was a bit off my challenges due to not knowing to not drive a car. It was tough but I let it go of this . I was able to overcome by simply not getting into myself and comparing myself with other people. At some point , it lowered my self esteem I think there is a lot to do and what to do as we never know what are we going to do. I believe eveyone has challeges, doubts and insecurities in some point of their life. I think there are always downsides and upsides to some experiences and what we can control. This makes realize we are not perfect , every day we learn something new. I thank to my parents and family for their good advice , they have given me , there are always solutions to every problem. We need to let ourselves be a challenge and what we are made of . There are ways to grow and have the tright mindset. I think life gives us lessons in order to learn from our mistakes.

    G.A. Johnston Memorial Scholarship
Everyone gets inspired to something. That something is painting. When I get in a painting mood, everything else just goes away. It’s just me and the paper and the flow of watercolors. The whole world disappears and time means nothing.Painting is creative, and creativity is something every human being needs. We all have the ability to be creative, believe it or not. And it doesn’t have to be artistic to be considered creative! Being creative requires being vulnerable, letting go, and exploring all possibilities. It’s asking: “What if?” and pushing boundaries. When I paint in watercolors, I start with color washes. Wetting the paper with clear water, then pouring colors from dishes, tilting the paper the way I want the color to spread, pooling color in certain areas. It’s haphazard, messy, colorful, and scary. Not all washes work out and not all colors mix the way I’d like. It’s trial and error. Sometimes I do multiple layers of washes, called drying in between each wash, then pouring another color wash on top.Ever since I started painting again, my fascination has been with painting cabins. I like to create scenes at dusk where golden light from the cabin windows beckons you to come join around the fire. I love the way it makes me feel. Painting is an outlet for me, an escape. It can be incredibly challenging, and then in the next moment, incredibly thrilling when I’ve created something that makes me really proud of my work. Watercolors give me those moments. That’s why I love watercolor painting. I think painting is to relieve your self from stressful situation and can help you develop creative and skills that later on can be fun and rewarding. I think painting this boat made me realize I am free from all the stress in my life ,as sailing far away from my troubles and what you can do in a stressful times. I think it was inspiring and fun at the same to believe everything is alright. I think my other painting of the shells represents the outline of freedom and the little creatures that are in the ocean. I love the ocean and the sea they are a peaceful environment ; they help me become a calm person and drive me into my favorite hobbies to paint and be creative. They all help me be a better version of myself. I think there is a lot to describe where everything is good and how we see in our environment and what can be done about it. I think to symbolize our needs and desires in the artistic world.Paintings gives us the inspiring and the motivation to go far in life. There are always something to create and become a motivator to be artistic and what gives. This is to let the freedom and adventure to have its own story. The exploration, the ships goes into the sea and explore new places. I really hope this is inspire to never ever give on your dream.
    Concrete Rose Scholarship Award
After I graduated high school, I became certain that if I wanted to pursue a higher education I needed to be persistent and determined to achieve my career aspirations. However, I would not be at this level in my education without my mom's support. Without having my father's emotional and economical assistance, she has learned how to provide me with a decent quality of life. She works as a custodian in my hometown, but she knows the money she earns is not enough to pay for my nursing career. As a result, I search for scholarships and job opportunities that could contribute to the achievement of my college education and help pay for basic needs in our home.I also believe that being an immigrant made my decision of attending to college morechallenging. I immigrated to the U.S. from Bolivia when I was ten years old. Luckily Ispoke English before coming to the country , but my mom and I did not really understand how the school system worked. As a result, when I was a senior year of high school arrived I did not really understand the process of attending college. I did not know that I had to talk to a school advisor about getting a college education or find scholarships to pay for school. I had no knowledge of the types of tests that I had to take like the SATs, ACTs, or even college assessment exams. However, after researching this information online and meeting with college advisors, my mom and Ihave learned all of these strategies that help students accomplish a higher education. My objective is to secure a position in which I can utilize my nursing skills in conjunction with a solid background to aid patients in implementing nursing and the ability to be working in a healthcare setting.I am deeply passionate about nursing and its successful implementation and management to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness. The role of a nurse necessitates a comprehensive understanding of both ethical and health practices for optimal performance. Currently, I am pursuing an undergraduate degree with a focus on nursing to gain a wide array of patient care skills. Additionally, I am supplementing my education with online learning courses and certificate programs to stay updated on the healthcare industry despite my dedication to professional development, the high cost of certain online courses and certifications has hindered my ability to enroll in them.I am confident that my educational background and experience align well with the scholarship criteria, and I am convinced that this scholarship will play a pivotal role in furthering my education.I know that all of my goals will remain dreams if I do not complete my nursing degree. Therefore, I am committed to working hard in school and looking for opportunities that could help me make my goals a reality. This scholarship will greatly enhance my ability to enroll in college classes that were previously financially out of reach. It will support my pursuit of professional training and certification objectives, ultimately paving the way for a successful career in nursing. A long time ago there was a girl who was getting beaten by was not part of losing. This quote motivated me every day and as far I can remember, I was able to appreciate the phrase but the experience was another meaning where it helped me understand what I was doing. I think my teacher was the one who inspired me to do exercise and become fit, this helped me become a better version of myself. My teacher left an impact of the importance of commitment and discipline and the approach to become an endeavor of passion of anything you want to do. Other people critic him but he never stopped inspire students to run and love sports. Whenever, there are tough times you can also embrace for good times. Even some time, I have lost races and competitions at schools, I never felt proud of myself when it came to academics because the important thing is that I have participated and that helped me grow my self-confidence. My teacher taught me to work passionately towards my goal. I may have lost but I never gave up on the idea of working hard, be consistent, motivated in everyday life. I thank my teachers, parents and my family to support my dreams. Everything in life has its ups and downs. Nothing in life is easy, we all make mistakes, I managed this situation by seeing positive things and outcomes in life. I think there is a lot to be done. My career is very challenging but at the end it will be worth it. So once again, whenever bad times come, it is time to move on and face any battle. I never give up. I believe that "the future depends on what we do in the present" Mahatma Ghandi. The quote he says that whatever you do today, is going to affect tomorrow and what kind of future you will have. I think there are success and failures in life and we must able to overcome, as many people in their everyday life. Challenges in life are part of life and it is up to us how we respond to it, developing resilence, coping strategies, and having a growth mindset is the key to turn into ourselves in growing and learning constantly .This helps me constantly to evolve and change my way of thinking. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to write this essay and share my life experiences.

I am a first-generation American student and the first one in my family to go to college. My family moved from Bolivia to the U.S. I was 10 years old when I escaped from extreme poverty. As a low-income student and an immigrant with limited English, my parents had to accept low-paying jobs. My father is a machine operator, and my mom is a custodian. My parents are most focused on paying the debt on the house, bills, food, insurance, and other expenses. It is tough to become independent since everything has gone up. Over the years, they have had enough to pay rent and food on the table, so I have always known they could not help me pay for college. So over the years, I have been proactive about earning money and saving it. I was working with people's lawns and also being a custodian for a year, but it was not enough to save up for college costs. There are many obstacles in life. I was depressed when I did not find a job because I had lacked networking skills and experience for years. The job market is very competitive. I am trying to earn money, but it is not easy at all. Winning $1,000 will help me ease a financial burden. This is important to me because I plan to study health sciences, which is in the healthcare field, and eventually work in a hospital as a provider to support the community. Currently, I am studying at the University of the People. I was enrolled in two colleges before, but they were not affordable since FAFSA was not giving me a lot of grants to cover my expensive tuition. This amount will help me pay and focus on my tough, challenging classes rather than worrying about how to figure out and pay for them. I can focus on studying, graduating, and achieving my goals. Dreams have the potential to positively impact society by promoting mental health, creativity, problem-solving skills, personal growth, improving relationships, increasing empathy, advancements in psychology, cultural enrichment, increasing self-awareness in leadership, and a holistic approach to health. They all contribute to the idea that a dream can become a reality through hard work, perseverance, and effort. Most importantly, I will use this scholarship to become a healthcare provider and give back to my community. Receiving the scholarship will allow me to chase my dreams. Thank you for this generous gift.

Our society is driven by our common needs. This is the idea that you and someone else can make someone’s life a better place. It is driven by our necessities and the urge to be successful in life. Whether it is a person’s needs or wants,. During my first years in high school, I did volunteer work, which consisted of helping others. I want to talk about the time when I helped a poor family in our hometown during my summer vacation. I cannot recall the exact name of the person, but I do remember that he had five members and was a technician. He relied on the small shop he operated, but after a devastating hurricane destroyed it, he had no other income to sustain and fix his shop while he was not able to afford and provide for his family. One day, he was trying to console his kids, who were demanding food. This happened before going to school. I was able to meet a friend to help the person and actually do something about it. He was scared to talk to me, but eventually told me everything that had happened to him and helped in whatever I was able to. My friend and I went to the grocery store to get food for the man and his family. I watched his kids eat voraciously and have smiles on their faces. I went to class as normal and told my teacher about the situation with this man. Finally, we were able to start up a little GoFundMe and a fundraiser to raise money for this family. Students and staff were able to raise a significant amount beyond my expectations. We were able to convey the suffering of people in need. With the money, we were able to buy food, supplies, and clothes for this family. The family was incredibly thankful, and the husband and wife were able to get back on their feet. About my feelings and thoughts, I was satisfied and content. This is the first time I realized how enthralling and satisfying it is to help someone. I feel blessed and thankful for my life to be able to do this. In fact, helping someone in need is something we can only feel, and words can’t describe it. It was a good experience; this made me realize there are still good people and you can count on them and also be part of their life; be able to succeed and also satisfy someone else needs because people will remember their life and their actions on you; this also helps you become a better person; as life can give you challenges along the way, there are also deeds and memories that will be remembered. As a person, you grow, and it is important to be nice and kind. Life is full of surprises. Who knows if it can change for the better or worse and what to expect with a lot of sacrifices and good actions in our everyday lives? We change and evolve, but let's do it for the best.

I am bothered at the relentless pursuit of something new by younger "artists". Do not get me wrong. I love motivation.I've proven it. Nobody stays up with changing communications and camera technology any more than I do. But when I hear new photographers say things like ,"Ah that's old and tired ". I want to try something new.. I am concerned. I am wondering if in the pursuit of new, they forget the most important part of being creative. To be cool you do not be new - you need to be YOU! It is simply in-authentic to do something JUST BECAUSE it's new -if you don't feel it in your heart. I saw a beautiful portrait at this year's art fair hanging in the print competition. While the younger folks might have called it "old fashioned" I called it classic .It scored very well and should have. I am sure the maker was proud of it. Seriously if you admire Lady Gaga or Paris Hilton that does not make look cool or new. It's the talent beneath all the tattoos, lip rings, dresses of meat, hair color or what RGB spectrum or that matter. I understand the need to be set yourself apart. And I don't really care what you really like . What I really care about is whether your photograph represent your true vision. I care about the artist underneath all the trappings. If you expect me to be impressed with your outrageous attire or attitude, forget it. That is BORING by now. I want to you use your camera, pencil and graphics to tell a story so moving that your images arrest me. I want to see that you poured your heart and soul into your art. I want to see that you tried to use your camera and applications to communicate with SOMEBODY. Don't be fooled into thinking that you're actually doing something "new" anyway. Because most of the time you aren't.It might be new to you, but it is certainly been done by someone else, elsewhere else, maybe even long before your time. So Whatever what was on my mind I decided to draw artistic graffiti and designs on my computer. This gave a glimpse of what to do with my life. Art is one of those positive impacts and effects on humans. It gives you a worldwide perspective of what we are capable of. Creativity has the accomplishment of being less-stressful and anxiety. This leads to a passion and multi-disciplinary to express yourself. I believe it also encourages you to be more "a sense of purpose" . This gives the feeling of innovation and be a life-long learner. I have always gave out the energy to chime and criticize my work art. We "artists" have the culture to drive our empathizes and creative pursuits. I hope you are inspired and welcome to our beautifully, I seek an understanding of visual trope in the formal, technical and stylistic aspects of visual art composition, surface, paint-handling, color, placement, editing cuts, context, etc., the nuts-and-bolts of creation. Importantly, as a follower of cognitive metaphor theory, I see visual trope as a thought process, involving the fact that metaphors are embodied. That is, that mental concepts are constructed tropically from bodily experiences. These foundational perceptions can furthermore lead to what George Lakoff terms “image mappings” and “image schemas,” which can then be used to structure somewhat less physical events. Image schemas generally rely on an abstracted sense of space and vision and can be described with prepositions or simple directional: out, inside, from, along, up-down, front-back, etc. In the arts, both these image-metaphor activities shade into one another along a vast spectrum of possibilities. The discovery animating all of this is that trope is the basis of thought, thus language is one instance of it, not the other way round. And contemporary visual art contains other, highly intriguing instances.
