My family had difficulty paying the bills, and we were nearly bankrupt. My dad was looking for an opportunity to leave Argentina because he knew this would get worse over the years. Because of the endless hours my dad worked, we survived that crisis. After six years of suffering from the economic crisis, my dad left Argentina with me, my sister, and his new girlfriend, who is now like my mom, went to the United States for a better future. I think that was the best decision he ever made in his life. The process of adapting to a new country is complex. It involves learning a new language, meeting new people, and knowing how the system works. Thankfully, we moved to Miami, where almost everyone speaks Spanish, and we have adapted for over three years. I am a first-generation college student in my family, and it is not easy to complete my degree, but I will never give up and will continue my journey until I finish it. Hey! My name is Franco, and I am nineteen years old. I've always been a hard-working person who tries to improve every single day. I always learn from my errors, and I'm always open to experiencing new things with people or with different communities. Two extracurricular activities I participate in are volunteering at a camp and taking care of children in an organization called Tatanka located in Miami, but you may ask why a camp? I am learning and studying marketing and at the same time, I'm applying those skills to the company I am working for. In addition, I know the experience I'm having right now will help me in the future, meaning that I will be ahead of others because I started earlier. My goal for now is to learn as much as possible and make a good impact in my area of study. My ideal future will be to work in a big company and promote all the products (like I'm doing at this time) but with more income. After five years of working in a big company, I will create my brand and continue promoting my products to the world. Being an immigrant in any country is hard, it can be easier in another country, but in the United States, it's a little unique and different. My family and I came from Argentina, a country located in South America where they speak Spanish. We came to America four years ago, just at the beginning of my freshmen year in Highschool. It was extremely hard for me to learn English in school for the first year but with practice, I learned to write and speak after two years and a half here. During that process, it was hard for me to make friends in school or my basketball practice for the reason that I didn't know how to communicate in English. I finished Highschool last year on June with good grades and learning more than I thought. Now I'm in Miami Dade College (a community college) studying business and saving money for my next years at Florida International University where I'm going to transfer in a year. Talking about business, what I'm going to do after I graduate from the university is create opportunities for everyone in my community to make money, whether is a job, creating a project with other individuals, or putting an income to generate money. If it goes very well, it's going to be around the country. I think an immigrant has a better vision compared to an American since one came from a country where things were not good and he or she can see different perspectives from different places getting to the point that it can create more ideas for that individual as a positive impact. My experience in college right now is a mix. It's a little stressful because of the assignments that they gave me and all the work that I need to do plus me and my dad are paying for the tuition and all the materials required for my education and I'm trying to reduce the costs to the lowest I can. The good part about all of that is that I can get scholarships to help me and my dad to save money for other important things such as the car, the house, etc. To conclude, I can say that despite all the obstacles, I'm still learning in college and outside college with my family, friends, and my girlfriend. If you want something, you need to work hard to get it.

Many attributes make people unique, but mine happens just to a few people. First, I'm the type of guy who never gives up. I'm always consistent with my goals, what I need to do, if I have to do some research, if I need to ask someone a question to understand, etc. All of those characteristics are not born just because it's just me, its a process that you need to make it through to develop those attributes. My experience was something tragedic to my life, the death of my mom at the age of eight years old. One day, I was with my dad and my sister doing breakfast on a Wednesday before school like a normal day. Well, that "normal day" went directly to the worst day of my life. My dad got a phone call from the ambulance saying that my mom got into a car accident. However, he didn't say anything to me until three hours later when they told my dad that my mother died. It was 2 pm and me and my sister got the notice. We were shocked, without words. It was a difficult time for three years, yet those moments gave me a different point of view on life, I remember that I was reasoning that if this happened to me is because I needed to be a strong person and live my life to the fullest. Sometimes, I feel demotivated to do something, like I'm putting in zero effort but then I remember what happened to me and I said, let's do this for myself, and my mom that she is watching me from up there, meaning my goal is to make her proud. My plan to give back to my community is when I finish my business degree, I will be creating jobs for everyone interested in getting money, being 1% better every day, and helping them with their tuition in college. I'm also focused on getting a small business to help the community with other services, or my last option is to be an entrepreneur, founding a company and open to the whole world. Lastly, I wanna help people to be themselves and not try to fit into modern society in that we lived just because that individual it's not the same as everybody else. Each one of us has our own hobbies, way of thinking, our own ideas which we shouldn't be hiding or keeping in private just by the reason of being scared of what other people say due to rejection. My big goal is to be ourselves in this world.

I'm doing different extracurricular activities outside of golf, one of my favorite sports. I'm in the PTK Club: Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society where we do events for the community, for example, beach cleanups, barbecues, valentines booths, workshops, and book fairs. All those events cover the month of February since we will do different activities in the other months. I'm also in a business club where we do meetings every week to talk about the market and we do presentations for a competition that it's going to be on September of this year. My hobbies are golf which I played this beautiful sport since I was a little kid in my country club in Argentina with my friends, my dad, and my coach who helped me to get better every year. Other sports that I like are basketball that I have also been playing since I was a little kid and the gym where I've been doing exercises since the last year. My plan to positively contribute to my community after I graduate from college is to create jobs for the people, create a company surrounded by good individuals to help the economy grow, and make a good environment for all the people that lived in my community to help them economically surpass day by day. Additionally, I'm always sharing my kindness to the world, showing that you can be a good person to society by just having good manners in front of everyone. I'm taking advantage of my time in college by joining clubs to learn new things so I can get a good resume when I'm transferring from college to another university, I'm helping other students with their homework, I'm taking care of children during every holiday or day off so that the parents can rest when they need it, and I'm doing exercise whether in the gym, or playing golf with my dad or my coach, or playing basketball with my friends. Being a recipient would have the best impact on my studies because it would help to cover my fees in college for my next semester and future semesters. In addition, this scholarship will only push me towards my business degree and my dreams of one day having a successful life as an entrepreneur. I remember I used to be too thin and my weight was 100 lbs when I was fourteen. When I started playing basketball, all my teammates and my coaches said that I was too skinny and needed to gain more weight plus that time when I was running for ten minutes, I was tired, in other words, with no stamina. From that day I changed my life, I started going outside and running more miles each day. In addition, I started eating healthily: (salads, meat, pasta, and rice). When I was fifteen, I noticed that I gained a little bit of weight but again, I was thin. I start looking for solutions to that and I found the gym that changed my whole life. Now I'm in love with my gym because it helps me physically and mentally in my day-by-day. I started going to the gym when I was sixteen with absolutely no idea of what I was doing but with help of other people and my own discipline, I started seeing some results in my body such as lean muscle. A year passed and I noticed that some people told me that I was looking very good, like someone who lifts weights, and more muscular which makes me happy on the inside, but what really makes me proud of myself is that I got out of my comfort zone to be better to myself and to treat my body the right way. Yesterday I saw photos of myself when I was fourteen or fifteen years old and I couldn't believe that I looked so bad. However, everything is possible in your life with hard work and dedication. Now I'm eighteen years old, almost nineteen and I'm in college doing a healthy life, going to the gym four times a week, and the rest of the time I used it to study and play basketball with my friends. To conclude, I can say that the best you can do to change yourself is to have motivation and the most crucial factor: discipline. Without that key factor, you can't reach your goals in your life for the reason that consistency is better than motivation since motivation only gets you started in an activity but what really matters is consistency, to stay in the fight, don't give up, to be better by 1% each day of the life you are living.

First of all, volunteering it's very beneficial for everyone. It gives you unforgettable experiences that take us beyond what is familiar and comfortable to experience real change. Volunteering takes you beyond the surface level of travel and helps us reframe our thinking around some of the challenging issues the world is facing. Joining a project immerses you in a new environment, community, and culture. It is an adventure that is as challenging as it is rewarding and it offers you skills that can be used throughout your career development. Lastly, creates some of the most incredible travel memories. From my experience, volunteering changed my mindset in a way that I see the world differently, I see that people have their own lives and not everyone has the same opportunities to live in good conditions. I also meet new people and develop lasting relationships with people of all ages. Extending empathy is often one of the biggest motivations to join a volunteer project since it helps everyone create a good environment around. What I find interesting is that I'm studying business and in the future, I can connect the world of business with volunteering in a way of doing charities with many companies which are non-profits whose main goal is to help people around the world. Experimenting and taking care of children under the age of 10 years was the best experience I ever had because it puts me in a role of a guardian and I learned a lot to apply to my future. I build a lot of new skills, patience, self-confidence, and character in myself so the kids wouldn't be a problem for me. During my last days with the kids I took care of, I started crying because I created a good friendship with them and I knew that I would not see them until the next six months knowing the good bond I experienced with them. I need this scholarship to pay for my classes at Miami Dade College and finish my Associate's degree in Business Administration. Being able to know that my culture is completely different than those at school. It has brought so much knowledge that telling other people about makes them want to be Hispanic. My family is from Argentina. A country located in South America where people are kind and at the same time a little arrogant but that didn't stop me from being a good individual. My Hispanic family background affected the way I see the world in many different forms. Let's begin with the basics. First of all, it makes me want to break all negative stereotypes of how most are not educated and do not have any way of succeeding. I want to make my family proud. I had many experiences where being Hispanic has made me work harder than I would have. One example can be in school or my basketball practice. My first day of school here in the United States was hard since Spanish was my first language and my classmates and teachers were speaking in English meaning that I couldn't understand anything that they were saying. Day by day, I was learning grammatically in English to at least write in English. The hardest part for me was the pronunciation of the words for the reason that when I was little I was a stutterer, complicating my pronunciation of the words coming from my mouth, even in Spanish. One day in my basketball practice, I had two teammates that were laughing because of my pronunciation of the words in English. Luckily, as I was growing, I start controlling my voice with words to start talking like a normal person and after a few years, many people told me that my English was better. I felt proud of myself. After all those experiences, as a Hispanic, I learned that the world is cruel but you can learn from it and gather with good people that change the perspective that you see the rest of things. I also noticed that we have the concept of familism. Strong relationships among family members, both nuclear and extended. To conclude, I wanna say that you always have to be proud of your roots, from where you're coming from because that is what makes you unique from the rest.

The career I'm pursuing is Business Administration. In the business world, it is optional if you want to continue your education to hold a certain position but in my opinion, I would make the best choice in going much further with my education. My positive impact on my community through my education is that I always want to be there for others if they need me. I was raised to not be a selfish person and I intend to continue to be like that. Whether it's for my future children or my friend, I want to be able to help that person. I will boost the local economy. It is a contribution that you can make at any level. They came here to the United States from Buenos Aires, Argentina with me in 2018, and now do what they need to to support me. My parents inspire me to do well in school so I can have a life that's better than the one they have, and allow my family to have the privileges that we never had. Also, I want to be able to provide my parents with whatever they need after they retire. My parents came and did everything that was needed to get a good economic status. Now my mother and my father manages a fairly decent company. I plan to do more than I need and go even further than my parents did. I want to own my own company and enjoy life to the fullest. My positive impact on my community through my education is that I always want to be there for others if they need me. I was raised to not be a selfish person and I intend to continue to be like that. Whether it's for my future children or my friend, I want to be able to help that person. I will boost the local economy. It is a contribution that you can make at any level. Supporting locally owned businesses in my neighborhood by doing the following. One is shopping from locally owned businesses, I will make sure that most of the money you spend stays within your community’s economy. Another one may help as a consumer or a reviewer, but the best way to impact the local businesses around me is by investing in them. To conclude, I'm going to be always there for the people that need help in their businesses, it's because I like how the economic system works in the United States, how everything works through money.

If you are educated and received a degree in your respective fields, then no one can snatch the opportunities from you. Education is a tool that maintains stability in life. It paves the way for different opportunities in life, and your chances of getting selected increase. So, education is a must as it makes your life stable. It's super important to be educated in something, at least have a title in something to get you prepared for your future. It has brought value to me in a way that I feel like an innovative person in society, that I can do things for myself and for the rest of the people. People have to value their education and use it in a good way. For a society to become productive, education is strongly required. With the increasing population of the country, the needs and demands of people also increase. An effective workforce of knowledgeable people is required to fulfill the market demands of a growing population. These experts provide the services needed in daily life. Therefore, education has a crucial role in increasing the productivity of society. If a person is educated, he can fulfill his dreams and get a good job by getting paid. Through his salary, he can achieve all the needs and demands of his family. So, in this way, education helps in eradicating poverty and making a person fulfill his necessities and comforts even. Education improves personal growth. You might be wondering how. If you are educated, you will have a thirst to gain more and more knowledge and acquire more thought. This process of getting more will lead you toward success and transform you by increasing growth. You can’t even imagine what level of growth education provides. Education helps in developing your overall personality. If you are educated, you will get to know more about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats also. You will be able to find your talents and innate qualities. When people become educated and equipped with the required skills, they will flourish in the field of research. I started playing golf when I was 6 years old in Argentina. I went to a golf club for 3 years. I learned a lot there. I’ve experienced many highs and lows, and have created many friendships and memories playing the game I love. Golf can teach you many lessons if you pay attention. One of the lessons I’ve learned is that it takes perseverance and hard work if you want to excel at something. It wasn’t until the eighth grade that I realized golf had more to offer. At that time, I was playing baseball and basketball. Although I enjoyed them both of these sports, they weren’t the sport I loved. Eventually, I stopped playing them so that I could focus more of my time on golf. At first, I wasn’t very good but there was this drive and “fire” inside me that pushed me to practice longer and harder than others. That year, I got an opportunity to test my progress and to prove myself as a golfer. I made my first appearance in a varsity golf match. That day I shot a 43 to help my team secure a win. Throughout all the ups and downs I’ve experienced from golf, the one lesson that I will always remember is how much perseverance, dedication, and hard work it took me to become skilled in golf. Golf has also taught me to have trust in myself and to be patient because sometimes results take time. During this time, I've been playing golf with my dad and practicing every day; trying to get better every single day, 1% better than yesterday. It's funny because I always said that I'm not good when I'm playing golf but when I go to TopGolf with my friends, I always win against them by far. Golf is very important to me to the fact that I'm usually calm and relaxed when I'm playing. It's almost like I'm meditating. However, when there is an important competition, I'm always focused to be the best on the field. Trying to do my best in every single shot to win any competition I participate in. My dad always taught me a lot about this sport and I don't know where I should be if he wasn't there with me. In my opinion, golf gives you a learning lesson in your life and you must be paying attention to every single detail.

The advice that changed my life was "get paid what you are worth". First of all, one should know how much his/her work is worth in the marketplace by being mindful of his/her talent, productivity, job responsibilities, and effort. This is especially true for freelance workers like me. If you are underpaid, even a little, it will hurt you and your growth in the long run. Freelance markets have become competitive. Many newcomers tend to lower their fees far below the market price, often offering to work for free. This not only contributes to the undervaluation of their effort but also that of the other freelancers. However, I never work for free. Even when my friends and acquaintances ask me to do so, I politely refuse because you should value the time you are putting into something. I got the advice from Tai Lopez, an American entrepreneur, investor, and motivational speaker. He provides ideas and philosophy for achieving a good life. This advice might be useful to those who are in other professions as well. Especially for those who are considering joining unpaid internships. In addition, it's always important to do your research since one of the worst negotiating mistakes people make is picking a random number and then discovering it was way too low. The smarter ones avoid that pitfall by doing their homework. They discover their market value by researching going rates and then asking for more than what's offered to give themselves wiggle room. It's always important to challenge yourself in areas outside your job for the reason that stretching yourself in any area of life has a ripple effect. If you can't quite get yourself to ask for a raise, try signing up for an art class or running a marathon. Anything that puts you out of your comfort zone builds confidence and self-worth. Moreover, practicing daily affirmations helped a lot. These positive statements are expressed as if they've already happened. Two examples: "I have the confidence to ask for what I want." "I welcome more money in my life." Write your affirmations down. Post them where you can see them easily. Say them out loud, as often as possible. In conclusion, I can say that is never easy to get out of your comfort zone but once you do it, there's no going back and everything is gonna be fine.

Hip-hop is an influential form of music that displays an artist’s honest and revealing story that many of the general public can relate to. One of the many songs that I can relate to is “Love Yourz” written by J Cole. The song talks about how Cole reflects on the most important things in life such as love and happiness. He realizes that the money and fame didn’t bring him the happiness he desired. To gain true happiness, he needed to appreciate himself and those that love him. Finally, Cole talks about how he’s going to make something out of himself even though he grew up living a struggling lifestyle. “Love Yourz” is one of the songs I can relate to because the lyrics show that no matter how messed up your life is, you should learn to love the life you have. “Love Yourz” made me realize that there will always be someone there to support my decisions and accept the person I am, and who I am to become Even though I cannot relate to having the status of a successful rapper, it is important to reflect on the ideas that J Cole emphasizes on.

Every single person has their own individual way of expressing their emotions. When I lose wifi connection or when I check my pockets and I don’t feel my phone I feel like I am going to have an anxiety attack. Little meaningless circumstances cause me to freak out on a regular basis. If everything important to me: friends, and family is taken away from me, I have no idea what I would do because I need their company, their advice, and their presence. It scares me to think that one day I can lose everything that I care for, and I don’t think that I can cope with a death of a loved one. Death is a scary thing to think about. I would think that nobody knows how they would cope with the death of someone they were really close to until it actually happens to them. Losing a loved one is like having your heart ripped out of your chest. Many people wonder and imagine what we would do when someone we love passes away. I never thought of death as something hurtful, until my mom died. I do not think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with the life-changing news when it occurs. It amazes me how we all take life for granted. The tragedy of my mom happened when I was 8 years old. I was a child playing all day with my friends, but that day change the perspective of how I saw life. Thanks to my mom, now I'm always motivated to do something and when I achieved it, I say thankforto her to being always there with me. Surprisingly, I'm always fighting with my thoughts. I have a constant fight with my mind when I'm trying to accomplish something. The reason is that one part of my mind says: Don't do it, its too dangerous, and the other part of my brain says: Do it, you just live once and you have to do it for yourself and for the people that always believed in you since you were little (the first to do that was my mom). All in all, I want everybody to appreciate what they have and never take for granted what they have in their life because one day it could be gone for their entire life. Be happy in your life and enjoy every moment you got with your loved ones.

Maybe some will try to change something about their community. But I am not fond of this idea. The main reason is that I would rather change myself. You need to know that everything outside you is the reflection of what is inside you. The poem was Found on a Tombstone at Westminster Abbey. When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world I found it difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world. All in all, change comes from within. No need to try to change the world. Just look at yourself and ask how you want to change yourself so your community can get the benefits, not the other way around.
