Hi! I'm Michelle, a 20-year-old Peruvian-American. I was born and raised in Texas until I moved to Peru when I was 9.
I love learning and getting to experience new things, which has led to me developing many hobbies and interests. Some of my hobbies are learning different languages (I'm fluent in both English and Spanish, and proficient in German), gardening, various art forms (e.g. photography, painting, and ceramics), singing, dancing, reading, and traveling.
For a really long time, I was confused on what to study as I have different passions and interests. Initially, I started off as a Biochemistry Major because I wanted to be a veterinarian. However, throughout the semesters, I realized I enjoy art (graphic design to be more specific) more, which is why I switched majors. Although I struggle sometimes with designing and creating artworks (I'd like to think it's because my brain is very STEM-wired), I am having a lot of fun learning about so many new things.
Although ambitious, I am trying my best as a Graphic Design major! I am also aiming to get a minor in both Biology (I still like it and will always be a STEM girl at heart to a certain degree) and Package Design, which I recently found out that my university offers.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile, and I hope you have a great day!

Women in STEM Scholarship
I am currently immersed in the fascinating realm of biochemical and biophysical sciences as I pursue my major, driven by my fervent aspiration to become a veterinarian. Engaging in the demanding field of STEM, as many are aware, presents its unique challenges. Throughout my first year as a university student, I've encountered a myriad of intricate chemical reactions, mathematical formulas, and profound theories, none of which have proven to be easy to memorize or comprehend. Despite the formidable nature of this academic journey, I am gratified to be an integral part of the STEM community.
Amidst the confusion and frustration stemming from grasping various complex concepts, I reflect on my younger self, a dreamer persistently envisioning a future as a veterinarian. Whether envisioning the well-being of domestic animals like dogs and cats, larger creatures such as horses and cows, or exotic beings like guanacos or Asian small-clawed otters, my passion lies in witnessing these living entities flourish in happiness and health. This unwavering desire inspires and empowers me.
Being an active member of the STEM field has given me the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals. Despite disparities in our career paths and objectives, we are bound together by a shared enthusiasm for discovery, an insatiable thirst for knowledge, and an endless curiosity propelling us forward. This unity has proven to be both comforting and uplifting, assuring me that I am not alone in my struggles and aspirations.
As a STEM major and aspiring veterinarian, my ultimate goal is to contribute to providing animals with a life of fulfillment and minimizing their suffering. Whether administering a cast or probiotics, assisting in birthing, performing surgeries, researching cures for emerging animal viruses, or simply offering comfort, peace, and a good scratch behind the ear, I am committed to exerting the necessary effort to bring these aspirations to fruition.
Beyond my aspirations in veterinary science, I yearn to break barriers as a woman in the field of STEM. My ambition extends beyond achieving personal goals; I aim to demonstrate that irrespective of one's identity, there are no invincible obstacles preventing success. I aspire to join the countless remarkable women who have significantly contributed to society and knowledge across various scientific domains. Gender should not be a hindrance in any profession, and women have consistently proven their prowess in overcoming such barriers. I aspire to become a beacon for aspiring young girls, showing them that dreaming big is not only acceptable but also achievable. We women possess the capability to conquer any challenge we set our minds to.
Ultimate K-Pop Stan Scholarship
In 2017, at the age of thirteen, I discovered K-Pop, and ever since then, it has become my favorite music genre. I have explored various groups like Red Velvet, Twice, Blackpink, Enhypen, Seventeen, (G)-idle, TXT, Le Sserafim, among others, but none have captured my heart like BTS.
The first song I heard of theirs was "Save Me,", and ever since then, I have become an avid fan, an ARMY. BTS has been a constant source of inspiration and comfort throughout the years, helping me understand my emotions, express myself, overcome challenges, and grow as an individual.
Expressing my gratitude towards the members of BTS is a daunting task, considering the profound impact they have had on my life and me as a person. Their music not only aided me through hardships but also introduced me to a community of like-minded individuals who have become cherished friends. More significantly, BTS guided me on a journey of self-discovery and self-love, an area where I struggled. The "Love Yourself" series resonated with me during a time of self-doubt, providing the courage to explore and accept different facets of myself. Thanks to the members of BTS, I have discovered my identity, passions, strengths, and weaknesses, and developed a profound sense of self-love.
Throughout the years, they have not only been a source of comfort and admiration, but also have become role models, friends, and older siblings in a way. Even with just one song or watching a clip of them, they can brighten my day immensely. When sad or tired they are like a warm hug, comforting me and helping me understand my emotions, and raising my spirits until I feel like everything will be all right. Their multitude of songs is an outlet for me to feel and accept those feelings.
BTS has not only shaped my personal growth but has also broadened my cultural horizons. Beyond Korean culture, their content and music have enlightened me on various cultural aspects worldwide. The pride and love they exhibit for their culture are admirable, fostering a deeper appreciation for them. By imparting lessons on self-love, passion, emotional maturity, and growth, BTS transcends age and gender barriers, contributing to a global community that appreciates diversity.
Through their exploration of countries and cultures, BTS has fueled my curiosity and appreciation for various parts of the world. Joining their fandom has connected me with people from diverse backgrounds, fostering tolerance, acceptance, and knowledge. The impact of BTS and K-Pop on my life is immeasurable, they are not simply just music. For me, they have become a reflection and channel for self-love, empowerment, passion, perseverance, strength, friendship, curiosity, and so much more. Grateful for the role they played in shaping the person I am today; my most cherished memories are intertwined with their music and influence. From the moment I first heard “Save Me” by BTS, they truly saved me.
