Bio

I’m a Geography major with a GIS concentration at Virginia Tech, working toward a career in cleared geospatial intelligence. I currently serve as an Intelligence Analyst (35F) in the Virginia Army National Guard, holding a TS/SCI clearance, and I hold an A.A.S. in Intelligence Operations Studies from Cochise College. I’m interning with the Institute for the Study of War, applying GIS and open-source analysis to real-world terrain and conflict mapping. On campus, I serve as Treasurer of the Virginia Tech chapter of MANRRS. I’m also building technical depth through certifications in cloud computing and data analysis to complement my GIS and intelligence background. Beyond academics and career, I’m pursuing a goal of competing as a Winter Olympian in bobsled, a pursuit that reflects the same discipline, teamwork, and drive I bring to my military service and studies. After graduation, I plan to pursue a graduate degree in Agricultural Science with an Environmental Science concentration at Virginia Tech, focused on applying geospatial tools to land use change and resource management. My goal is to bridge military intelligence experience, GIS expertise, and environmental science to build a career that serves both national security and sustainability priorities.

My long-term goal is to advance research into sustainable agricultural practices, particularly alternatives to synthetic fertilizers, given growing concerns about their links to carcinogenic compounds and broader environmental harm. I want to apply GIS and geospatial analysis skills toward addressing challenges like land use change and resource management, work I’ll deepen through graduate study in Agricultural and Environmental Science at Virginia Tech. I’m passionate about finding practical, science-based solutions that support healthier food systems and more sustainable land use. Your support helps me pursue this path toward meaningful research that benefits both the environment and public health.

Champions Of A New Path Scholarship
I deserve this scholarship because I’ve built a life defined by relentless follow-through, not just ambition in theory, but ambition backed by daily action, even when it’s hard. Where many applicants may describe ambition as a future goal, mine is already visible in how I’ve structured every part of my current life. I’m currently a Geography major with a GIS concentration at Virginia Tech, working toward a career in geospatial analysis and sustainable agriculture. But getting here hasn’t been simple, and it certainly hasn’t been handed to me. My parents migrated from Nigeria and, despite working hard, weren’t able to save for my college education. A significant part of what they earned went toward supporting extended family back home, a cultural obligation that, while rooted in love, meant there was no financial cushion left for tuition by the time I was ready for college. Rather than treating that as a barrier, I saw it as a problem I needed to solve myself. I joined the Virginia Army National Guard to access educational benefits that would help make college possible, and I currently work two additional jobs, driving for Uber and working as a Consultation Agent for Geek Squad, all while carrying a full course load. On any given week, I’m shifting between military obligations, customer-facing work, driving shifts, and coursework, often with very little overlap or downtime between them. Balancing military service, employment, and academics has taught me a level of discipline and time management that most of my peers simply haven’t had to develop yet, and it’s taught me how to perform consistently even when I’m operating with less rest and fewer resources than the average student.
