My ultimate goal in life is to become a strong and successful female lawyer. Even as a little girl, I found myself interested in learning about different trials, laws, and more. Then and now, I still find myself passionately disappointed in the justice system here in America and i’m hoping that I can make a change. As a woman going into a male dominated field, i’m excited to make a name for myself and to encourage other girls around the world to pursue their dreams.

First-Year College Students: Jennie Gilbert Daigre Education Scholarship
My name is Fallon Davis and I am an 18 year old Pre-Law student at Houston Baptist University. My ultimate career goal is to become a successful female lawyer. Success to me means making changes in court, in order to get my clients the fairest trials possible. In recent years here in America, the laws and judicial system have been proven then and again to be faulty and unreliable at times. As a lawyer, I aim to make it my duty to positively impact the American court system for the better. Whether that be by representing my clients well, speaking up against prejudice unlawful acts that I see, or more.
Cases that many lawyers won’t work on because they are too “risky” are the types of cases that I want to take. I want to push the limits of what is possible in order to prove that a fair, lawful, and well thought out trial can prove that a convicted individual was actually innocent the entire time.
Mass incarnation is one of the many issues that I feel passionate about fixing. When it comes to prejudice conviction, people of color are the main targets. It is important that lawyers do their part to take on clients that need help with being represented in order to show their side of the story while in court.
I truly have a passion for law, and regardless of the amount that a client is able to pay me for my work, I promise to act diligently and take on the cases that need my expertise the most.

Taking Up Space Scholarship
I think that as a women going into the field of law, taking up space is to make myself known and respected in my area of work. As a female pre-law student, I am well aware that there will be times when i’m doubted or overlooked when in comparison to my male colleagues and class mates. Growing up as a young girl interested in various court cases, I noticed that most representatives that held power were men. I’m hoping that as a female lawyer, I can take up space in a courtroom to make myself known. I want to do my job effectively and be respected as I get it done. I want girls watching me to know that it’s possible and to not be intimidated by who is surrounding you, because YOU are the one to take up the space and make it yours.
A Dog Changed My Life Scholarship
I love dogs because they are incredibly innocent and loyal. Dogs love anyone and everyone that simply feeds them or shows them even the smallest amount of attention.
I have a 5 year old Pitbull named Ruby and she is the best pet I have ever had. She to others may be frightening or seem threatening simply because of her breed, but she is anything but that. Ruby is extremely intelligent and gentle and she is me and little brothers best friend. My little brother Rykar is autistic and he has a difficult time bonding with people and making friends. However, as soon as he set eyes on Ruby when she was a puppy, they instantly became a dynamic duo. Ruby never leaves my brothers side and she is his whole world. When my brother is feeling upset or overwhelmed, she is always there to comfort him. Each night they sleep in bed together and Ruby keeps her eye out for him throughout the night.
Ruby has impacted my life in a way of giving my brother the friendship that he always deserved. I no longer wonder and worry of if he will be treated with the upmost love and respect, because now that he has her his heart is always full.
Cariloop’s Caregiver Scholarship
All throughout high school, I was juggling working, my education, and taking care of my younger brother and my mother. My 11 year old brother Rykar has autism and along with that he has frequent seizures. I’ve had to take on the role of helping to raise him because my mother has her own medical issues, and my dad is always gone working. My mom has a disease called Charcot Marie Tooth which is a nerve disease that causes extreme pain and fatigue. Along with her nerve disease, she also has chronic migraines and seizures. Amy mom spends a lot of time in pain and going to doctors appointments. Because of her conditions, she is unable to work, so a lot of the time I am home to help cook, clean, and more. As a young female trying to embark on her own journey, this has been difficult for me. A lot of times i’ve had to cancel plans to help take care of my brother and mom. There have even been times when no one could show up to reward ceremonies of mine, sports games, and more.
Although there are plenty of negatives and challenges that i’ve had to overcome pertaining to caretaking, it has ultimately taught me a lot. Because I had to start help raising my brother at such a young age, I matured quickly and learned how to be independent. Of course I will always need and want my parents guidance in life as I go on to live on my own, but I feel better prepared with the situation i’ve grown up in. It’s made me a stronger and more understanding person, because a lot of the time even my own friends didn’t know the struggles I was going through at home with helping out with my mom and brother.
In the end I wouldn’t of traded my situation for anything because it allowed me to learn, grow, and create an inseparable bond with my mother and brother.
Bold Mentor Scholarship
I have always been the friend that everyone goes to for advice. I enjoy mentoring others and helping them make good decisions to be the best versions of themselves possible. By helping others with my mentorship, I hope to impact others to have the courage to reach out to others for advice or help if they need it, especially when you are someone that may be struggling.
For example, my older cousin reaches out to me for help and advice when it comes to her mental health, and although I am younger she still values what I have to say.
No matter who it is or what the topic maybe, I to this day prioritize mentoring others. Whether that be helping them learn a math equation, giving them advance, or more, I try my best to offer supports to others.

Youssef University’s College Life Scholarship
If I had $1,000 right now, I would automatically put it into my savings account until I had to pay my first round of college tuition. It would be a huge relief on not only myself, but my family as well especially considering that my mom and brother both have expensive medical costs and my mother is unable to work. My brother is 11 years old and has autism which causes him to have frequent seizures. He has a lot of doctors visits and it causes my family’s medical bills to sky rocket. My mother has Charcot Marie Tooth Disease and seizures, which also adds to our medical expenses. Over all, if I were blessed with any amount of money, it would automatically go to my tuition. I am currently a freshman at Houston Baptist University and will be majoring in Pre-Law to get my bachelors. Then afterwards, I will be attending law school. Since I am expecting many more years to come of schooling, any money towards my education helps.
Jameela Jamil x I Weigh Scholarship
My little brother Rykar is 11 years old and has autism. Often times, people have trouble understanding him or relating to him. From an outsiders perspective he may seem awkward, loud, or maybe even obnoxious… but they don’t know him like I do. When I see my baby brother, I see a sweet, funny, and gentle boy. He sees the world differently than us “average minded” people, and so that’s why it frustrates me so much when others don’t treat him with solidarity or respect.
Although my grandmother is a wonderful and kind human that I very much love, it is clear to me that to this day she has trouble responding to my brother and his behaviors. There was a time when all 5 of me and my brothers cousins were at my grandmothers house for a family get together. Like all of us, Rykar was excited to see everyone and so he got loud and began verbally stimming to show his enjoyment for the situation. It was obvious that he was irritating not only my grandmother, but just about everyone there that doesn’t know him the way that I do. In this moment I felt angry, because they are family… I didn’t expect that response from them. I could tell my brother felt embarrassed and ashamed of his behavior, when he hadn’t done anything wrong, so I decided to say something.
I stood as my brothers older sister in front of our own family and I scolded them for their treatment of him saying, “It seems as if he can never act the right way for y’all. When he’s having a meltdown, you all roll your eyes and complain, when he’s happy y’all get annoyed …what do y’all want from him? He’s autistic and his behaviors are completely valid and normal although you may not believe it”. I decided to leave after that because if my family didn’t want to be supportive of my brother, I didn’t want him in that environment anyway.
That day left a big mark on me because Rykar has told me about his struggles with how people treat him at school, and so I felt in that moment that he was in a safe space, when he unfortunately wasn’t. I thought deep down that our family ties would create a dynamic where my brother could be himself, but that proved otherwise.
In the end, I’ll always be my brothers ally. I’ll always be a person for him to count on, to talk to, and whatever else he deserves, because not everyone is the same, yet we all deserve kindness and respect.
Gabriel Martin Memorial Annual Scholarship
Ever since I was just a young girl, I have suffered from severe chronic migraines. These migraines occur almost daily and cause my to throw up, have hot flashes, pass out, and more. After the migraine passes (which can take over 24 hours to do so), I feel relieved but also completely exhausted. This has taken a toll on my life because there have been plenty of times when I’ve had plans of things I needed to take care of, but was unable to do so because of me getting a migraine. Since these occur almost daily, I am used to getting interrupted and can almost never guarantee plans with friends due to my fear of being in pain. It’s gotten to the point that I can no longer stay at others houses, because I always wake up with a migraine and have to leave early.
As for the future, I am wanting to become a lawyer. I know that attorneys have tough jobs, but knowing that I live each day juggling the pain of my head pouncing, I feel as if I can tackle any major goal of mine. After all, i’ve already graduated high school, earned some early college credits, and more.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
1. My dog deserves this scholarship because she eats a lot of hot dogs and then she studies real hard afterwards.
2. My goals include being able to fly (without a jet pack, COMPLETELY solo), meeting Rihanna, and eating a lot of sushi because I can.
3. One time when I was driving there was a turtle in the middle of the road & I straddled it with impeccable timing and didn’t harm it whatsoever… I guess you could say I overcame that obstacle.
Bold Financial Freedom Scholarship
My grandfather who is a very financially successful told me, “it never hurts to save, because as you spend, you learn you are never satisfied”. This taught me that I can buy things that I long for, but that as a human, I will only want more. Therefore, saving what I have financially is the smartest decision.
Bold Caring for Seniors Scholarship
To improve the lives of the elderly in my community, I offer them general support and comfort the best that I can. Although the elderly do need physical help often times, they also like the feel of being treated as an independent and capable individual. While spending time with elderly people such as my own grandparents or even my neighbors, I’ve learned that they enjoy the company of the younger generation. It is refreshing for the older folks in my community to be able to see the upcoming future generations and what they plan on pursuing in the world.
Overall, to improve the lives of the elderly in my community, I simply offer to be a friend to them and along with that comes a helping hand and a person to talk to.
Brian J Boley Memorial Scholarship
Although I’ve grown up with plenty of friends, i’ve still remained extremely lonely behind closed doors. It felt as if I was stuck in a glass box where I could see everyone on the outside, but I couldn’t really be heard or felt. I didn’t realize until just a few years ago that my feelings were all linked to severe depression. I had symptoms such as self harm, self deprecation, and more that felt almost impossible to overcome, yet I still did. The main thing that helped me change my battle with mental illness was to admit that I needed help. Once I reached out to trusted family members and friends, I realized that I wasn’t alone with how I felt. The hardest part of my mental health journey was reaching out, but it was ultimately the best decision i’ve ever made because it showed me that although someone’s life can seem perfect from the outside, that it can be anything but that.
Because of my struggles and experiences with mental health, i’ve decided to pursue a career surrounding helping people that are struggling with it. As a lawyer, I intend on defending and helping people with mental issues on getting a fair and proper trial while also receiving the proper treatment and support that they need for their circumstances. I’m hoping that I leave an impression on the world that makes major changes in how people with mental illnesses are viewed or treated.
