I am a student at Tarrant County College, looking to transfer to either A&M or UT Austin. I plan on majoring in Psychology on the Pre-Med track, I'm looking to attend medical school or graduate school for psychology so I can become a psychiatrist. My dream is to be a psychiatrist and help children and young adults who suffer from mental illness. In high school, I didn't try my hardest and now I'm reaping the consequences. I graduated high school in 2020 and I have now found my drive, I finally know what I want to do. I want to help people who struggle in silence, feel as if they're battling their own minds. I want to let them know there is someone on their team, helping them along their road to recovery.

Bold Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Helping people who struggle with mental health is as simple as empathy. If someone has no idea how to understand what another person is going through they'll never be able to adequately help them. Knowing it will never be as simple as "making it stop" or just "growing up". Ignoring a mental health issue will almost always make it worse. I understand what it's like to struggle with mental health. I've heard it all "you don't know what it's like", "Just stop it", "stop thinking about it". These comments are just vindictive, bigoted, and rude. I want to help others by showing them that their problems matter, anyone who truly cares about them will invalidate or weaponize their feelings. Sometimes people just need to know that they're being heard. Someone just being there to help them is enough, knowing they don't have to go through it alone. People need to know they have someone to lean on, someone to help. Not everyone has that type of person in their life, someone whose only motive is to care for the other person.
At the end of the day, the thing that sets humans apart in this world is being social creatures. Humans need the social aspect of life, interacting with someone. Being able to know you don't have to struggle in silence, there is also someone in this world who will help you. Understand that no matter what someone has done to you in the past, they're worthy of being loved. Everyone no matter what kind of facade they choose to show to the world needs to be loved. Love is the greatest thing in our life. Not romantic love, just simple love.
Bold Career Goals Scholarship
I understand what it's like to struggle with mental illness. It is becoming far too common these days for people to suffer in silence from mental illness and some even choose to take their own lives. I want to help others, I want to be there for them when they feel no one else is. My dream is to become a psychiatrist and learn people's stories. I've always loved helping others, this would be the best way for me to do it. From my past, it's expected for me to fail, but I want to show everyone no matter where you come from you can be successful. I want to be there for people when they feel as if they don't have a choice when they doubt their own mental capabilities. When they feel like their mind is fighting against them I want to be the person they turn to. The person that gives them hope, restores their faith and makes them believe again. So many people struggle every day with no help, I will be there to pick them up, believe in them when they no longer believe in themselves. A philosopher once compared his teachings to a raft, the purpose of the raft is to cross a river. Once they've crossed they don't continue to drag around the raft; They leave it to help the next person. I want to be that for people, a tool to help them improve their life.
