In many ways, my journey has been one of sacrifice, which has allowed me to develop attributes of leadership, honor, and generosity that I can contribute to my peers and subordinates. Growing up in a military family, I witnessed the sacrifices my father, uncle, and great-grandfather made while serving in various branches of the armed forces. Their selflessness and dedication to duty inspired me to follow in their footsteps and pursue a career as a fighter pilot in the Air Force.
My father's deployments to Iraq, Japan, Germany, Italy, France, and Australia before I was born showed me the sacrifices military personnel and their families make for their countries. I also come from a diverse background, with my father being African American and my mother being Filipino. This multicultural upbringing has taught me the importance of inclusivity, understanding different perspectives, and embracing diversity in leadership.
As I pursued my passion for aviation, I volunteered for various community service activities, such as providing free breakfast to the poor and unfortunate through my church. I also participated in extracurricular activities like AFJROTC, Football, Civil Air Patrol, the National Honors Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars. These experiences have allowed me to develop leadership skills, learn the value of teamwork, and cultivate a sense of honor and generosity toward my peers and subordinates.
One of the major challenges I faced was attending the 79th Session of the American Legion's Boys State of Virginia. During that week, I had to step out of my comfort zone and go above and beyond what I had ever done before. This experience taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of seizing opportunities for personal growth.
Looking ahead, I am excited to further my education at Howard University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU), where I plan to major in Computer Science. I am also eager to continue my aviation journey by earning my private pilot's license at the AFJROTC Flight Academy in the upcoming summer. These opportunities will further develop my skills and attributes, equipping me to contribute to the fields of aviation and computer science with leadership, honor, and generosity.
As I progress in my career, I aim to carry on the legacy of leadership, honor, and generosity that has been instilled in me by my family, mentors, and experiences. I will strive to lead by example, inspire others to achieve their potential and foster an inclusive and supportive environment for my peers and subordinates. I will also honor the sacrifices made by those who have paved the way for me by serving my country with dedication and professionalism. Lastly, I will continue to give back to my community and make a positive impact through acts of generosity and service.
In conclusion, my journey has been marked by sacrifices that have shaped my attributes of leadership, honor, and generosity. Through my experiences and upbringing, I have learned the importance of selflessness, inclusivity, and personal growth. I am committed to carrying on this legacy of attributes as I pursue my career in the Air Force, aviation, and computer science, and strive to make a positive impact on the lives of my peers, subordinates, and community.
